  1. We got my 4 year old daughter a jr50 for Christmas, my boyfriend has completely flipped the bike inside out. Yesterday we had our first crash into a fence realizing now that the handbrake is way to far for her to grab, the foot brake is inaccessible due to training wheels. any modifications or suggestions would be awesome
  2. i’ve got a 2007 rmz450 and i was wondering if anyone has put the 2019 or 2020 front fender a plate on one of the 07 and down rmz450’s some how. and if so how much modding does it take? i’ve seen people use the 08-17 fender and plate but not the 18 or 19-20. also has anyone put a new style back fender on an 07 and down rmz450? all help is appreciated!
  3. Thought I'd share this project might interest a some. I'm sure it will bring out a few haters lol. but a good lively discussion is never bad thing. I've had my 525EXC for about 16 months and have been building though out the time while still putting 200+hrs on it since I bought it. I serviced the forks and shock 5 months before this project. The forks were the last thing to be upgraded. first part of this is a very basic synopsis of what I did, with how and why I got to the choice I made. The second section is a Ride report from the first 32 miles done yesterday the 8th of Dec 2022 DEC 4th 2022 The upgrade to the forks was contemplated for quite a while different options considered and researched, the basic re-valve $200-400.00+ if i did it (RaceTech) or have someone else do it, like 707. look for used WP forks and I'd still have to rebuild them, or new forks $3000-4200.00 ouch!! or do something radically different... I went with the radically different option... I decided on intalling 2023 AER XACT Cartridges in my original OC forks. I could have done older CC, newer 4CS or Explorers but choose the 2023 AER to get the wide adjustably in spring rate I wanted plus being able to drop 4.5LBS off the bike in the process along with the 23 AER forks being far better out of the box than previous versions. in the future this set up gives me the option to go with the Coppersmith Hybrid Ohlins update if I want. but I'll work with these to sort them out to see what I can get from them, which will be miles better than 17 year old OC forks. The other reason I choose this route is everything needed to do the update was $789.00 All the parts are new 2hrs on the cartridges I bought for the project. and since new complete 2023 AER takeoff forks were running 1600+ on ebay made this an easy choice for me. the install took about 2hrs ran into a couple things I didn't expect needed to use shorter caliper bolts, glad I had some sitting around, and a compression adjuster in the old set up that didn't want to cooperate, but all in all it went very smooth. DEC 8th 2022 First Ride Repot for 2023 XACT AER Cartridge conversion I did to my 2006 525exc. If you think air forks just suck balls then this post isn’t for you move on, if your open minded and curious please read on. First things first the setting: Tire pressures Front 9psi rear 4psi (Tubliss) Air spring 130psi, compression 17 clicks from hard, rebound 15 clicks from hard (mid-point) Oil outside the cartridges volume is 280ml now this is more than spec that’s on me, didn’t remember the amount correctly it’s really supposed to be? KTM says 200ml and RaceTech says 240ml and every thing I've read says these forks are very sensitive in this area, so there is some tuning that can be done with the oil level (haven't done that for these). I’ve heard they can be run with as little as a 180ml. the Sag was set to 110mm a bit more than spec. for the 525 also ended up with 15mm of front Sag. didn't set this intentionally just ended up there. I went to Carnegie SVRA, set up some loops with lots of different trail conditions, a couple smooth flowy ones, but mostly sections with all or most of the fallowing, very narrow to wide, medium to fast single track trail types, lots of square edges with long sections 100yds + of acceleration/braking bumps 4"-8" on average. water bars of various sizes, trail conditions damp to heavy mud and loose marbles. Fast rough hill climbs and some smother but very steep with ruts and turns. and a new trail that’s all loam and super tight switch backs (mtn bike tight) and steep. I had no expectations at the start of the day. I wanted to stay open minded careful to repeat all the sections in both directions and take certain sections and repeat them at different speeds for comparison. First impressions (32miles today) This is how they felt.... F%CKING AWESOME! No arm pump, not that I ever get it. but easier to ride less work on my arms these forks are far better at absorbing hits with less movement/harshness in the bars. They were very plush, but they also could have been more responsive in the first 1/3 of the stroke. but still no harshness/stiffness there or in the entire stroke, with some clicker adjustments I'm hoping to get them a bit better in that first 1/3. Not expecting it will get as responsive as they are in the bottom 2/3 of the stroke but better, I think. I didn't end up making any clicker adj. from those stated already, a bit surprised I didn't feel the need, I will on subsequent rides. The front end tracked very well didn't deflect from any obstacle other than if I hit a larger loose rock, I did that a couple times on purpose to see how they handle it (they did just fine, but kind of feel it’s due more to the low pressure I run in the tires with the tubliss less than the forks) but no deflections off anything solid and even if the contact was hard and at an angle with a square edge. The front end would loft far easier when I needed to help it over something, have to say very nice not having that extra 4.5lbs up there. The bike felt very nimble… far more than before and far less effort was needed to initiate a turn. Bottoming out… I didn't get them to do that tried but I did get down to the what seems to be the recommended 35mm or so remaining before my Mud scrapers would hit the axle lugs according to the stroke indicators, good indication that I had the air pressure correct at least for this day’s conditions. it made landings off water-bars or whoops a dream no matter what I was landing on, a slop loose shit mud or even if it was the next whoop or a braking/acceleration bump caught the face of. what I really loved was that unlike OC original forks once they got to wherever they were going to stop and start to un-compress it was always kind a harsh, never a smooth transition. With these it was a very smooth transition. you can rally feel the air spring ramp up the deeper in stroke they got, never got unsettled and was always smooth/predicable, Rebound was just as controlled, the top out was just as smooth, and transitioned to the next compression stroke just as smooth. I did make some adjustments to the shock added a couple clicks to the SS compression and two clicks to Rebound left HS compression alone to get it to balance with the forks better… it’s still not where I want it to be but its close. I’m sure I missed something just ask if you think I did. One of the things I was wondering if I’d notice was the longer trail because of having to use the 22mm axle and it being 2mm closer to the forks than the 26mm Large axles are. (The newer bike compensates for this with 22mm offset triples instead of 20mm/pre 2014' I didn’t notice it, granted it does move the center of gravity a bit forward not a bad thing in my opinion. Hope this was informative to those interested. More than happy to answer any questions. Interesting note, at lunch a guy who’s having problems with really bad harshness with his 2018 I think, AER forks, he got on my bike and was quite amazed with how plush and smooth the travel was even just in the staging area. if anyone considers this conversion I highly suggest only use the 2023 AER cartridges don't try this with earlier versions of them.
  4. Well, I'm kinda new around here, so is adequate to present myself. I'm from Argentina as you can see in my profile, I have a Gilera VC200 Super Sport Scrambler, and because I can't last 5 minutes without doing mods to engine, there I go. This bike is basically single cradle old english scrambler style, high exhaust, knobbie tires, dual shocks in the back, inverted fork at front. The engine is basically a DR200 from Suzuki (QM 200), and I'm going to enlarge it to 236/37cc, using a Yamaha TTR230 piston in +2mm, sleeve for that piston, up in the head a HotCams LT230 , roller rockers to copy well that profile and gain some wasted power, ceramic coating to piston and chamber to increase the thermal efficiency, increasing the compression of course, a 32mm flat screen Keihin carb, the normal porting works to improve flow, oil cooling, a custom made exhaust (I designed it myself), a high power ignition coil to fire up the massive mixture, and a chassis improvement for it to be more rigid and be able to mount a skid plate (something I took from the VANVAN). The power gain I expect it to be around 22/23HP, or more with luck, since I planned all to squeeze every drop of efficiency out of there. I dropped some pictures, but I should upload more, If someone wanna know how, or did something simillar and want to share data or advices is quite welcome to do so. (disclaimer: all pictures of parts are taken from internet, I dont buy precision metals from the Chinese, the piston and rings came from Japan, also the oil cooler -not shown-, the sleeve is made here by a company called Vacrom, the camshaft is chinese, but it will be sent to be filled and re machine, heat treated and electroplated with babbit classic nickel to reduce friction.) Will try to upload more pics later.
  5. Hi, I have a 2002 Honda XR250R and I love the bike but the gas tank but, let's be honest, it is quite bland. The seat also dips quite low in comparison to the top of the gas tanks so cornering is more difficult compared to other bikes. I was wondering if there is any street bikes (such as the newer xr250 or the cr230) who's gas tank and seat is interchangeable with my older XR. I have looked at aloop kits and such but they are just too expensive. Not the older XR has a single beam to the handle bars while the newer Hondas have a "double wishbown" frame style. Thanks so much
  6. Got about 250 hours on my 18 EXCF-450. I've got my suspension dialed in- im a big rider. 1st gear wheelies effortlessly in any situation -as it should. 2nd - 4th gear cant wheelie at all, which is where I need it (mostly 2&3). Its utter shit. My 16 XC-f 350 would wheelie if a light breeze caught the throttle tube in any gear. I ride singletrack/Enduro. I only do practical wheelies to get the front up over logs, small pits, jumps-kickers etc... Dam thing flames out on quick throttle blips. I went down on the front sprocket from 14 to 13- Not much help, but 1st does respond quicker. Looking for advise to get the front end up with a blip and zap. -Praying that the $1000 Vortex ECU isn't the answer. HELP!
  7. I have a 2008 CRF150R Expert and am trying to find a way to get more power on straights, any ideas for modifications?
  8. Some mods I've done to my 2022 KLX300 dual sport. Leaning it towards the dirt bike side of things. Thanks to everyone who has posted with information on these dual sports. It was very helpful in choosing the KLX300 as my dual sport. Hope some of the information on my video can help you and return the favor 🙂
  9. hey, so just got the apollo 125 x 18. 2018 and am wanting to know. how to improve this bike best exhaust, carb, levers, ect ect. what Japanese bikes closely match this bike parts wise. where some of you shop for the stuff and have had good luck. tips tricks. just kind of a catch all share all of what you got, where you got it, or if you found a successful diy mod....how was it done. it would really help people like me who have combed the internet for hours. looking for things. thanks!
  10. Hello guys, I'm the proud new owner of a 2020 RMX 450Z. I just bought the bike brand new and got a great deal because it was sitting on the show room floor for the past two years here in Morocco. My riding conditions are very similar to Texas / Arizona / Nevada riding with a lot of wide open trails, also a little of mountain riding (on tighter trails) and occasional riding in the dunes in the Sahara desert. Firstly I'm going to have to break-in the bike, does anyone have a specific procedure for breaking in this engine? Also what is the oil / oil filter do you use and what is the interval of the oil changes. Thant being said the bike is shockingly slow and through some research I saw there was a couple things I could do to it to make it better. Through research I had a lot of questions that came up which I was not able to find an answer to. I'm new on this platform so bear with me 😃. Here is compilation of what I'm planning on doing and I would love to have your input of what is best to do on the bike to really unleash its full potential. Remove the air restriction in the airbox (Should I upgrade the filter as well?) Remove the spark arrestor and the baffle in the exhuast (Is there any advantage to opting for a aftermarket exhaust) Removing the throttle stop (Should I just cut the end the is not screwable and put it back to seal the hole?) Ordering a JD Tuner (Does anyone use dynojets Power Comander 6 or a VORTEX ECU? If so what is betteror JD Tuner is enough?) If I were to choose a JD tuner how would I know which settings to set it up on? Can the bike run with the throttle stop removed and the exhaust baffle out (Will it make it run too lean?) Any input or advice you guys may have is very much appreciated as I'm trying to mod this bike in the right way from the start!
