  1. I thought I'd start a new thread to help keep track of accessories and mods for the new 2017 Honda CRF250 Rally. To start things off, the rear rack bolts from the standard CRF250L are the same on the Rally. I expect a radiator guard won't be a major problem (maybe a little grinding) but I think a skid plate (bash plate) will require an all new design (required to fit into side fairings). The guys at crfsonly.com (https://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/355_358_362) have now added the Rally as a specific model you can select to search for parts. They seem to be working hard to figure out what parts will fit from the standard CRF250L. So as you find good parts and figure out mods - post away!
  2. Hey TT, I just got 2005 DRZ400E. It didn't come with any manuals that's why I'm asking fellow DRZ owners for some help. Please bear with me if I'm asking obvious and or lame questions, it's my first bike . I'm in Colorado @5280' plan to take it to higher elevations. My riding will be some pavement and the rest FSR's, maybe some super easy single tracks initially. I plan to plate it. What manual, including repair manual, can be recommended? Anything available to download? I found a manual on DRZ400E.com but it seems to be for the S model and not the E. What gas should I use? It's a higher compression motor and I believe the manual calls for 91. Although, would it be different at a higher altitude? What oil and filter should I use? How ofter should I be changing oil? What air filter and sealant is recommended? What hand guards do you recommend? Integrated turn signals might be nice but not a deal breaker Skid/bash plate. Security. It's stored in the garage most of the time but I might need some extra security when I travel. Here are some things I thing might be useful. Any thoughts? Front disk break lock with alarm Heavy duty chain and a lock Speedometer. It just came with a trip meter. What break fluid can be used? What coolant should I user? Any cool taillight hubs? Front and rear tires. I'm thinking of getting Kenda Trackmaster II K760 as they appear to be a good bang for the buck. Are Dunlop D606 that much better as the price suggests? Mirrors. Something neat would be nice.
  3. I have a 230 I just picked up a 06. I am pretty happy with it. I have been getting it back into top shape. Have a few questions... 1- The exhaust might have taken a hit at some point... Take a look at the picture... 2- are their any slip ons that actually do anyting for performance? I know they will sound louder...but im talking about a HP increase... 3- i have not yet done the powerup which I plan to do...if I put on the slip on does that change the recommend jetting? 4- how much up and down play is there in your clutch? mine seems very loose up and down but actually using it feels normal... I tried to tighten the bolt but cant seem to close the gap. Any other mods to get the most out of the bike... I do not plan to move up to MX, I just want this bike to be all it can.

  5. How is everybody doing. I just purchased a 2017 Husqvarna FE250 for 4,800Euros with only 200 hours on it as I just moved to Tuscany, Italy from the states.. I used to race motocross and quite frankly it was a different time when I used to race, mind you im only 27 but I used to ride a C125. These new amazing fuel injected sexy beasts are something im not used to... I just got back into "racing" as im now looking to compete in some local enduro and harescrambe events out here... I would greatly appreciate ANY advice on, tuning the bike, and beside getting the obvious header and exhaust pipe what other mods would anyone recommend to bang this baby up from 35(stock) horespower to about 40 or more..!? if that's even possible. thank you for the time to read this, I truly appreciate any feedback thanks again.
  6. Hello, I am looking for a used 125cc dirt bike. I am puzzeled because I do not know what I want, what would you guys recommend and why would you recommend it. Also where could I get performance mods, specifically suspension and which of the bikes have the most tuning capabilities. I've narrowed my choices down to Kawasaki kx,Honda cbr/xr, Yamaha yz, and Suzuki rm around the 2000-2005 range. I'd rather hear from people who owned one of the bikes but advice from any of the experts is welcome P.S I'm sorry for any mistakes like the wrong "sub forum" or grammar as I'm on mobile
  7. Appologies for the book but bare with me here, in need of some input... Ok, so i bought a wr250f it wasnt street legal i made it legal and got plated through south dakota. I did a baja designs enduro lighting harness kit with the stator modification. Put an fmf slip on exhaust on it and jetted the carb. I forget what jets i used and i put an air fuel mixture screw in it. Problem1.After my baja kit i put on it wouldnt start. Turned out that the solenoid under the seat was loose or something i pushed down on it when it was clicking and it started running again. Problem 2.Went riding, it ran great on the trails. Went riding for a day or 2 on the street, after a while the electric start stopped working and it became a bitch to kick over. It started making the same click noise like when the battery is dead under the seat. Idk whats up with that. Then on the street i was riding and the bike stopped having power in the throttle i would pin it full throttle and it wouldnt take off like it usuallt does. I pulled over, let it sit for 5min and kicked it over again and the power i had came back in the throttle. It did that 2 more times durring the ride and i went home. Do you think this is a computer issue, a carb issue, fuel air ratio issue. Im going to do an airbox mod on it thiss weekend maybe thatll help. Problem3. I ordered some rims and stuff from warp9 so i can sumo it out and i was curious on what size sprocket would make my gears longer and better so im not maxing my rpms out at 40mph. I can do a solid 65mph on the bike but thats like pushing it and im in 5th gear as soon as i hit like 30mph, id love 6gears but im trying to avoid regearing the bike and using a smaller sprocket in the rear and maybe a tooth or 2 bigger in the front i guess, i still wanna be able to pull wheelies. I feel like im gonna blow the motor if i leave it alone and just ride street with it. Mind you this was the wr250f=for off road use only. not the wr250r=street legal from factory, i live in nj. I should have just got the street legal one or a supermoto already done but i wanted to build one and make it custom for me. I already put alot of money in to it and dont even own it 100% yet so im not trying to get rid of it anytime soon. Im not even done with it yet.

  9. So I love this little 04 TTR125L. Got it in rough shape and got it back and running like a bat out of hell. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade and can fix anything. My front frocket was extremely wobbly with the lock on and on the drive so I put a washer behind the sprocket and locked it back. I was just wondering if that will damage anything or did I do right? And can I put a 15t sprocket in front?
  10. So I have been wanting do to this build for a long time. Now that I have some time on my hands and the resources I need, I am going to give it a go. I am building a frame-mounted mini rally fairing. The components will all be 3D printed for the first iteration and I later plan to laser cut a stronger version and provide flat DXF files for laser cut metal versions. I will attach pictures as I design the mounting and as soon as I finish my prototype, I will release files so anyone else can make one too. I am not sure how I am going to create the fairing itself, I do have some fiberglass experience so I will most likely try that. My prototype will be installed on a 1983 XR350R I am rebuilding and I will also install one on my '85 XR600R and I may possibly make one for my '07 YZ250F as well, so the mounting will be designed to fit multiple makes and models. The fairing will house two LED light pods and have a mount for a standard sized cell phone. I may make other mountings for the fairing like a single light version or secondary mounts for trail computers etc. I plan to design it to be completely modular. The first iterations will all be installed with large zip-ties for easier modification. Later iterations will be either hard mounted (welded tabs) or bolted. Anyone who has attempted this before any advice would be appreciated. First prototype I am printing pictured below:
  11. I know the title doesn't really explain it much, but here's the basics. I have a carbureted 2018 TE250, and I have been wanted to make my motor alot more lively. I made a thread asking people how I could acheive this, and most of the replies I got told me to swap out the head and cdi to those of a SX/TC motor. After doing a lot of research, I decided that I wanted to make my engine as close as I can to a TC250 motor. By looking at a ton of owner and shop manuals I have found that the primary differences are: head, cdi, jetting, flywheel weight, and gearing. I have already decided to do the head and cdi (ordered and going to be installed before the next trip). The gearing I am thinking about going from 13 to 12 teeth on the front sprocket, event though I know this won't get me anything like the SX gearing, at least I can link the powerband a bit better. The only other mods I have done are a lectron HV carb, vforce reeds, fmf turbinecore silencer. So my question is what can I do to make my motor as close to the SX motor as possible?

The kit is a lot more affordable for what you get compared to the bbr when you take in the specs on the bbr cam compared to stock IMO. with that being said has anyone ever bored out their 120cc big bore cylinder to say 136cc? Or what’s the safe limit you can take one to? I have full range use to a machine shop and have no problem doing it myself.
  13. Can some one explain to me the actual difference between the 2001 exhaust and the 2003 exhaust for a yz250f. When I look at the schematics for both exhaust it is the exact same picture with updated part numbers for that model year. I have read mixed reviews on if they fit or don't fit. So if somebody knows the actual reason why the 2003 won't fit the 2001 please enlighten me. Also, please don't respond to this with I read on the FAQ that they don't fit. I want the reason they don't fit.
  14. I'm finally getting my first KTM and i'm super excited. I will be picking it up this month sometime. I've done a lot of research and have gotten a bit overwhelmed with everything I have found online regarding the newer models. I'm talking about the lean fuel delivery, engines running hot, choked up air intake and exhaust pipe ETC. I want my bike to run as good as it can without spending a fortune on new parts and mods. adjusting the TPS looks promising and My dealer can install the Euro EFI map but he says you'll only notice a difference with a new pipe. can I mod the stock pipe to be more open? I'm just looking for some advise and suggestions before I get the new bike.   15. Hey Thumpers, We just picked up another DRZ...woot My son has moved up from a DRz125L and we picked up a nice 2002 DRZ250. Still has original back tire !! We are planning on doing a few mods and are following the "Uncork Your DRZ250" how to. PDF Here: Uncork Your DRZ250 I am a little confused about the main jet sizes listed in the “how to” It states the TM28 Stock Main Jet is #127.5 (4/042 180) So the (100.604) #127.5 is the round main jet and the (4/042) 180 is the hex main jet. The how to says I need 2,3 and 4 sizes up from stock. And says I need #137.5, #142.5, and #147.5 (4/042 180) ? This doesn't make sense ? So without taking the carb apart to look, does anyone know if this tm28 use the round jets or the hex jets? We are going to remove the restrictor weld from the header and add an FMF slip on. We will then do the airbox mod and replace the airfilter with a UNI filter. As per the "how to" we will change the pilot from a #37.5 to a #40 And shim the jet needle with three .025 washers. Can anyone chime in with more specifics on which main jet will work best for our future setup? Thanks in advance thumpers.
  16. Soon as most people get a factory bike the first thing they do is take out the snorkel (myself included). However the other day someone told me that having the snorkel on actually helps at altitude (I'm about 340m above sea lvl), I'm pretty sure this is bs, but who knows. Anyone heard this before?

    I'm looking to mod out my 2015 TTR 125 but I can't seem to find anything really except for like exhausts, sprockets, rims and obvious stuff like that. If anyone could help me out with some links or just names of stuff that would be great.
  18. Hey all, New to the forum. First post here. I recently picked up a 2012 DRZ400S and am absolutely in love with the bike. Starting to do mods and make the bike my own and am looking at doing a custom exhaust. I was gifted a couple stainless steel Supertrapp Mufflers from my boss and want to make one work on the DRZ. My question is, "Is it too unrestricted? It's 2 1/4" ID and about 17" long. Pretty close to the stock muffler but I'm not sure about the ID. The plan is to either chop the muffler pipe around the footpeg mount and run 1.5" pipe right up to the muffler with a short expanding piece to get it up to the 2 1/4" diameter or just fab a whole new pipe to bolt on to the header pipe. Is 2 1/4" to big? I will run the spark arrestor at the end of the supertrapp which will definitepy put some back pressure back in the system. I dont want to lose that chuggy low end the drz has though. Suggested jet kit for this kind of pipe? Any advice is appreciated. Im happy to post more pictures and info if needed.   19. I recently purchased a 2009 Yz450f. It has a few mods done to it that me nor the previous owner knew about. It has a QS2, Yoshimura full exhaust(leaks at the head how do I fix) looks to be new timing chain, k and n air filter, airbox mod, and rejetted carb. How would I know if this bike has a zip-ty racing carb mod done to it? I love on the northwest corner of Arkansas, elevation is about 1200 feet. I would like to know what size jets and needle to get for this carb for my elevation. I have ordered a tusk adjustable fuel screw, r and d power bowl, carb rebuild kit,and a shim kit. What else should I purchase while it is torn apart? I did the o ring mod on the carb as well and that seemed to help it when I first got it. Should I purchase a jetting kit or just buy individual jets of one particular size and call it good haha. Ide like to not waste any money and if I can get close to if not perfect jet sizing and needle sizing for cheaper than a whole kit that would be nice.
  20. What's up, I just got my used ( but like new ) TTR 230 2011 for one heck of a deal (1300 with 400$ worth of equipment). Me and my friend have been riding mine and his bike past couple days like crazy, but his crf230f has got alot some acceleration on it. I'm not trying to make mine better than his I just want to explore the world of modding on a dirt bike. Also when starting cold it can take up to like 30 seconds to get it going. What are some mods you guys would suggest trying? I hear people say rejetting will help a whole lot out, if so can you link me to where you bought the jets and how I should install them? I don't want to be doing anything too pricey at the moment because I just bought it.
  21. Hey guys, alright so first things first. I bought a 2012 DR-Z400S Modded to high heavens (8K Miles) from a dealership in VA that did a trade in with the previous owner for a leftover new 2018 Beta I was first taught to ride when I was 10 on a tiny old '68 Yamaha DT50, I rode that until I was around 14-16 -__- lol and I was just about ALWAYS too tall for the bike I never owned my own bike and this is my first, it took me FOREVER to decide on what Make/model, but it all kept coming back to being able to hit the dirt, and hit it well. (with of course flexibility to hit the roads with my street biking friends) I had 0 clues as to what was installed on the bike when I bought it, but I knew it had a full exhaust, and a mixture of other mods that I could see but not 100% certify, but the dealership was a really nice mom and pop place that answered my questions and showed me the bike running/etc. and being as I was in New Jersey, it was important to me to find a place that wasn't just trying to push a bike on me. I did a lot of research prior to picking a DR-Z as my first bike and once I saw this gal with a bunch of mods for such a stellar price($3,900), I knew I had to go for it. I really am not sure why no one scooped this up prior to me because it was listed for a couple months and honestly it seemed like the dealership had her for around a year. I know the classic Suzuki Yellow the previous owner converted her into is not the most sought after, but that's just a couple bucks and some plastics exchanged. What I was more interested in was a bike that was taken care of with at least some of the mods that I had wanted to do done already. What I wound up getting is something that basically covered almost everything I had wanted. I just finished buying most of the additional stuff I wanted to do to her from this point and am extremely excited to start adding on and replacing things. I have yet to get her registered and get my riding permit (I need to go to two separate DMV's right now because of this COVID stuff in NJ and each one has had insane wait times the past 2-3 weeks after they first re-opened) so that is holding me back for now, but I've stripped her down to clean her up and install all of my new stuff(honestly it's really all mostly cosmetics at this point). Basically I am curious if you guys would help me out identifying some of the mods already done to her, give me your opinion on what YOU guys an gals(much more experienced than I) think of the bike/the mods done and planned to be done. Or maybe just share a little wisdom you learned with your DR-Z. I'm honestly open to anything and just so excited to have been riding her for a couple weeks now. It feels SOOOOOO good to be back on two wheels like this, she's just certainly a lot more power than I'm used to! Also, I'm not extremely new here, but definitely new to posting so feel free to let me know if I could be doing anything differently there too. I have more photos and a video of her running to so I'll try to get those added a bit later when I have some more time. Questions about the bike: Is there any way for me to tell if there's been engine work done? Hotcams/explosions/etc. The discoloration in the engine pieces makes me wonder what is going on there Is there any way for me to tell if there's been suspension work done? Is there anything you would suggest I do right off the bat with her? (take to mechanic for review/change oil/etc) I know she's low on rear brake fluid and coolant so guessing a coolant flush would be in order along with brake fluid Is there anyone in the NJ/PA/NY State areas that have some suggestions for riding locations?! I've downloaded OnX and some other apps to help me find spots, would love to get your guys opinions.   23. Hello all, Just bought 1st new bike of my life. Chose WR450f for its softer suspension over the FX and 18” wheel. Understanding I can upgrade the motor with ecu, controller, map switch when ready. I had read a lot about the “free mods” before purchasing but I didn’t realize the 19 and 20 were different design. Not a lot of info out there 2020 specific. Removed the airbox snorkel last night, picking up security torx bit for throttle stop. Question on the throttle stop. I have read the upper part of the shaft is not threaded and just to cut that part off leaving only the threads. If someone had the length the replacement bolt is (from the shoulder” that would eliminate any questions! Second question is the baffles, I did not remove end cap yet, hoping that will be self explanatory once I get in there but I also read there is three other baffles throughout the exhaust, should these be removed? I do plan on doing full exhaust and electronics in the near future but just want to make the bike rideable for now! Any tips related or not to my questions greatly appreciated!! Hey all, Through out the years of dreaming and envisioning the prefect dirt build (perfect to me), I have finally came across the mods that I think make this the best possible DRZ dirt mod list on the cheep. I am a young married college student so my budget is slim to none, however I'm a motorcycle addict. Due to my tight budget and big imagination I had to do some selective purchases to revamp my 2005 DRZ-S. When I bought the bike it was pretty much bone stock, except the seller did hook it up with 3x3 mod, correct jetting, and yoshi RS3 full system. While I did love the bike in its 'almost' natural form, the 320lb scale weight and spongy trail performance was quickly hindering my off road capabilities. In short, I wanted to drop some pounds, give her a face lift and tune the suspension to my taste. What I ended up with was exactly what I had envisioned, and I did it on the cheep. What I want to do here is throw down a list of all the parts I used to make my bike lighter on the scale, prettier, and all around better. The mods I did made a night and day difference with off road performance, it sits just a hair over 300lbs now and had no problem keeping up on hard trails, single track, and wicked hill climbs.   25. I recently bought a Honda XR650L 2017! im looking to upgrade it quite a bit! So far i got ProTaper handle bars...which is a must and i think i need bigger pegs (my boots are MX boots) ,full exhaust? Or just muffler? Alsoi want to rejet it and anything else? I ride in Nevada n going to be riding in SoCal. But i would love to know what other XRL owners have done that they loved! Racks and or anything helps ... Have a pretty nice size budget but love good deals! Question=does it use metric or standard tools? My dad just got a 2017 KTM690R enduro and we ride together and his tools dont fit my bike?
