  1. I have watched Washington State change over the years and being at a place in my life where all I want to do is ride trails, I am considering leaving Washington State. Where would you move to if you were set up in life and all you had to do was to enjoy the next 30 years riding trails? Your help is greatly appreciated. I have 3 places in mind, what say you guys? Where would you go? My ideal riding is technical single track. For instance I love little Naches, Tahuya obviously and Shelton areas. Thanks everyone who chimes in, much appreciated. PS. Pics are a huge bonus.
  2. So, I think I have this kind of figured out from the world of google and NV dmv, but wondering if anyone has any tips. I just bought an crf250x from a guy in Nevada- he had it titled in California where he lived until just a few months ago. From what I gather, I just need to bring it to a certified dealer/shop that can do a VIN inspection for me and sign off on the forms. Does this place then also check my title and then I will get a new NV title? Does the CA title get sent into the NV dmv or just the form that the certified dealer signs off on? The wording and forms are a bit confusing.
  3. Went to Vegas for Supercross finals, and scheduled a 3 hour desert ride early that morning. They supplied all gear,2019 crf450x,and picked up and dropped me off afterwards at my hotel. Great time for my first desert ride, [at 65 years old] Whole crew was great, kept ride to my level, rode part of mint 400 course,no issues whatsoever! Really enjoyed blasting across the dry lake bed near Primm, got to let the 450 all out,fun bike and likes to go fast, and thats the place to do it! A little out of my element [roots, logs, rocks and mud in New England] but thoroughly enjoyed the ride and views. Three hours with breaks was enough for me,had knee replacement last year and was my first ride in 1.5 years since injury, hands were getting tired! Thanks to Danny [my guide] and the crew, give them a try if you are in Vegas, get the hell outdoors and away from the slots!!! The rest of the tourists used the Razors and all said they were pleased with the equipment and service!
  4. We are heading to Jean next weekend and wanted to get some info on where to camp and ride. We want to ride some of last years Mint 400 course and also find some single track trails. On the map, it looks nice to the east of Primm and then north towards Jean. We want to do about 80 miles in the day and maybe have a destination to grab some food. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
  5. Myself and my son are going to be in Vegas on the 2nd and 3rd of February and we are looking for someone to ride with. We are from Michigan and ride a lot of single track trails and race enduros. We both ride KTM 350's. If we can't find someone to ride with can anyone tell use where a good place to ride is?
  6. going to vegas for supercross finals in May,and was going to do a 3 hour desert tour with admo tours the day before. Tried to book online and it wouldnt let me book any tours for any dates. Anyone familiar with them, and any good, bad things i should know? Bikes good, reliable, etc. Coming from Massachusetts and would love to try a little desert riding for first time. Sure its better than snow riding, probably similar to florida sugar sand, probably not as bad,or at least not worse, have ridden in Florida sand many times.
  7. Dream job and the pay is decent. Closes 2/13. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qCYE265wq0FDk2OfkjBe_lPX23jQNuWz/view
  8. Any recommendations for bike mechanics (08 yz450f) in Las Vegas, other than the regulars in town that charge a fortune.?
  9. anyone ride trials bikes in las Vegas NV area ? looking for people to ride with.
  10. Howdy folks- Anybody have any recommendations for riding in early spring in northern Nevada? I am particularly interested in the northeast corner of the state. Any info is appreciated, thanks!
  11. I'm heading to Reno tomorrow (Thurs 4/15) for a 1:15 DMV appointment and want to ride in the Verdi area on my way home after I'm done with the DMV. I have some verbal directions as to where to go (take the offramp where the Mexican restaurant is, go straight through the round about, and near a new housing development you'll see a paved staging area), was hoping someone can verify this or if someone wants to be a tour guide that would be better. I've got a couple hours to ride before I head back down the hill.
  12. until
Got word from some folks in the area that the area is a sloppy mess, too early in the season for Como unless you feel like mud whompin... or maybe ATV's SxS's... me... not really interested in duck paddling my bike through muck/river beds..
  13. Hey I know this may be a stupid questions but do I need someone to ride with me in state of Nevada with a permit I just got my motorcycle permit and was curious do I need a licensed rider
  14. Best In The Desert racing association is opening up new classes for motorcycles in 2020 and the years going forward so that guys (and girls) who want to race 350's, twin-cylinder adventure bikes, women and family's can all compete in their own classes. They are also starting a Pro Ironman class. If you have never raced desert before this is the perfect organization to check out and see how things are supposed to run. Extremely professional organization that puts on the best races in the country over long distances in our beautiful southwest United States. Very friendly and fun atmosphere where everyone helps everyone, and you don't have to worry about any thievery in the pits if you don't have a support crew with you. There are point to point, hare scrambles (multiple lap loop), and desert challenge races. WOT truck track to singletrack, rocks, whoops, sand, everything the desert has to offer. These races are an incredible amount of fun and you always, always get your money's worth. Below is the full press release. https://bitd.com/best-in-the-desert-announces-new-motorcycle-classes-for-2020/ LAS VEGAS, NV (Oct. 28th, 2019) – Best In The Desert, the largest off-road racing series in North America, announced today it is adding four new classes to its motorcycle division for 2020. The big news starts with the addition of the “Adventure” class for adventure motorcycles featuring two cylinders. We also added the Ironman Pro Class due to many requests from racers. A Women’s class is being added, and we are changing our 300cc class to 399cc for Pro, Amateur, and Sportsman classes. Last but not least Best In The Desert will offer a special Family class for those wishing to compete as part of a family unit. These new classes represent Best In The Desert‘s continued efforts to respond to the evolving motorcycle market, manufacturer’s development efforts, and the changing face of motorcycling. “We’ve been watching the motorcycle market closely for several years, and there’s no question where the growth is in the market. Adventure motorcycles featuring twin cylinders are the fastest-growing segment of the market, and many riders are looking for competitive events to test them in,” commented Best In The Desert Race Operation Manager Donald Jackson. Also, with women now making up almost 20% of all motorcyclists, the time has come for us to offer a 100% women’s class for them to compete in as well. Ours is one of the most exciting forms of racing on the planet, and the addition of these new classes is sure to draw additional interest and attention.” “In addition to the Adventure class, Pro Ironman Class and the Women’s class we are excited to update the 300cc classes to now expand to 399cc,” said Best In The Desert CEO Daryl Folks. “Besides giving all the KTM, BMW, Honda, Yamaha and Triumph adventure motorcycle riders a new platform to compete in on their heavyweight twin-cylinder bikes, the 399cc class will create a level playing field for this highly popular class displacement as well by combining the previous 300cc class into one class for motorcycles with displacement up to 399cc. No longer will 350cc four strokes be forced to race against higher displacement 450s. Instead, they will compete against all motorcycles of 399cc or less. Finally, the addition of the family class is sure to be a home run with those looking to compete as a family. The launch of these new classes is the latest in a long line of initiatives Best In The Desert has undertaken recently to increase motorcycle participation and address the needs of a rapidly changing market. It represents a renewed effort by the ownership of Best In The Desert to bring more riders into the sport as well as an overall commitment to continue to grow the sport of off-road desert racing. The 2020 Season is coming up quick and registration is about ready to launch. Check the BEST IN THE DESERT website often for updates.
  15. My mechanic has retired and I'm looking for someone that can do a top end on a 450r. Thanks in advance for the recommendations.
  16. I saw Facebook posts this morning, Sept. 11, 2019 and it was snowing on Mt. Rose. Any chance the valley floor got rain?
  17. Event website @ https://aimexpousa.com/ There you can find what vendors will be exhibiting. You will see new product unveils. There's also demo ride opportunities and activities. Don't show up on the Thursday or Friday before, as those days are dealer only. Consumer days are on the weekend. Buy tickets: https://ingoexintel.lpages.co/2018-aimexpo-advocate-start/#/select Hope to see you there! We'll be spectating and covering the event, but not exhibiting.
  18. Hey, I am a somewhat new rider that is located just south of Carson City. I ride a Drz400s and am looking for others to ride with.
  19. 3 of us to ride near Vegas maybe 2 days, head to Barstow/Johnson Valley 3 days, then north somewhere. Any GPS coordinates or advice is greatly appreciated. Can't find the GPS for the B-29, have the Husky monument and the x-15. Can't find the petroglyphs GPS near the husky either for some reason. Used to have it. Never rode near vegas, been to Cal City many times. Thanks in advance!
  20. Mark your Calendars! This will give you something really fun to do March 31-April 1, 2018 in White Hills AZ... Great entertainment... come on out and watch the Motorcycle, Quads and Side x Side races... More info will be posted at azopracing.com
  21. Is anyone from TT attending this year's Nevada Mystery 250? This will be our 9th in a row and we would love to meet some of you! We are planning on shooting a little video about the ride too so let me know if you will be there so we can say what's up! For anyone that doesn't know, the Mystery 250 is a ride that starts in the Wellington, NV area and heads over to Hawthorne where we stay the night at El Capitan. They put on a banquet with a sweet raffle and we party and have a good time. In the morning we wake up and ride back. In total it's about 250 miles (hence the name). It is put on by the Sierra Trail Dogs which are a great bunch of people. Here is more info: http://www.sierratraildogs.com/mystery-250-sponsor2.html
  22. So I was in MotoSource and RMS in Reno this past week and both stores had a Flier about a new proposed MX Park off Johnson Lane in Minden NV. They are supposed to develop 160 acres of land for tracks and camping. Does anyone know anymore on this sites development?
  23. Where we go on this ride may be determined by conditions, however it's generally around 5000' or so and most of the low lying areas can be avoided. Meet here at 9am: https://goo.gl/maps/JQ9UUoZj9Cz I'll hang around there at least until 9:30, longer if I know someone is coming. From there I'll be trucking my bike to the 'real' staging area 10 miles further in: https://goo.gl/maps/aEFKsXrD51m Goal is feet up by 10:30am or earlier. We can certainly start the ride at the first location, but it adds 20 miles of nicely groomed dirt road that's not really all that interesting. I'll have 5 gallons of high octane gas, on the off chance anyone is riding in.... extra tie downs as well if anyone wants to hitch a ride. Image shows my usual 'roundabout'. This trip we'll probably head around clockwise to MGL and see how people are doing as far as fuel goes. Schoolbus canyon isn't too much further.
  24. We are looking for a camping area in Nevada that has good gps tracks for riding and also utv’s. I live in Los Angeles but we have family in Las Vegas and are trying to find a good riding area that we can camp and ride for a 3 day weekend. We like to do destination rides to eateries and any cool scenery like mines and such. We ride usually in California city, big bear, and Parker Arizona. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  25. I have been planning a ride for the beginning of October in central Oregon with family and friends that live in WA... With the fires and air quality creating conditions that are somewhat less than optimal, I'm looking for an alternative spot to ride. I have my eye on Northern Nevada in the areas north of Winnemucca and Elko. While Im sure there is tons of riding out there, it would be great to get recommendations on a spot that would facilitate a group of 4-5 with skills ranging from beginner to intermediate. I will be pulling a small, 20 ft, travel trailer, so that is a consideration as well. While I would say that single track is preferred, we aren't looking for your SSS... More of a spot that would make a nice place to ride for 2-3 days that isn't over run by the SXS and/or quad crowd. Any help is appreciated.
