  1. Has anyone tried using Athena power valves in an OEM cylinder? Everywhere it states "for Athena cylinder only", yet on Amazon, it states that they're good for both OEM and Athena applications. I've seen both (not side by side, unfortunately), and they looked pretty similar. Didn't take measurements, although I should've. I have read of people trying this but not actually running it. Just was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Thanks in advance!
  2. Good Day, Can anyone recommend a replacement chain, and both front and rear sprocket to replace the OEM's? No hard riding done at all, half street and half dirt...just lazy rides on roads and trails. Brand names, etc. Thanks Chargerman
  3. Whats up everybody, Just want to hear everyones preference on clutches. My clutch is gone, and in looking to replace am trying to figure out OEM vs Aftermarket. I see a lot of good things about Barnett but would love to hear about what TT riders think. I am a woods/trail rider and will probably never do MX, which I am not sure would affect which clutch would be best for me. Thanks homies
  4. hi 2 stroke lovers , im restoring my 93 kx 250 and im trying to use nos oem parts , where is everyone getting their vintage nos parts from these days , iv been scouring ebay , facebook , and a few other sites and been able to track down a few bits and pieces , i know there getting old and parts are hard to find but i know theres still a lot of good stuff out there its just knowing where to look , any help appreciated , if anyone one on here has any nos parts for sale let me know , thanks for your time
  5. My 2001 rm125 has a terrible clutch feel. Compared to my friends bikes (both 125s), the clutch pull is heavier and no where near as smooth (slightly notchy throughout entire pull it feels like). Are these crappy breakaway levers the cause of this, or is it that my basket is notched a tad bit, or is it something else? Cable was replaced with a new one and has similar feeling to before but a little better.
  6. Hey guys I saw that a bunch of people on ThumperTalk have the 2015 Pointed Front Fender. So I went on eBay and look for one. I found a Cycra Front Fender (Pic Below) and bought it. I have a few questions. 1.) Will it fit my 2001 YZ 125? 2.) Does the color match with my OEM tank and plastics? 3.) Is their logo removable? 4.) Is there pre-drilled holes?
  7. Seized my engine last weekend because i put in my oil filter one backwards... i'm a dummy. Needles to say I need a new cylinder and a new piston this is what i'm ordering or at least planning to order.. Piston : https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/974/3784/Wiseco-Piston-Kit?v=533&s=47466 Cylinder: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-KAWASAKI-KX250F-OEM-CYLINDER-JUG-TOPEND-TOP-END-KX250-KX-250F-250-F-RMZ250/192304125998?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 going used on the cylinder to save some money. My question is.. has anyone done one of these and if so do you have a step by step how to? or know of a video on how to do it? on a bit of a budget and want to get back riding as soon as possible. Thanks for looking!
  8. First off, I know that there are multiple posts on the cast/forged piston debate. I keep jumping between being firmly decided on one to the next. Here's my situation. This is the first bike I've ever owned (1999 KX250) and have ridden it for 2 seasons now. I use it for mostly trail riding with a few visits to the local track to display how much of a noob I really am. I noticed piston scoring through the exhaust port and not knowing the history of the bike I opened up my can of worms. I am at the point where my head was sent out and re-plated (due to small chips in the plating) and I found play in the crank bearing so the case is now split in half. I ordered the Hot Rods bottom end kit (CBK0055) and swapped out my input shaft and output shaft first gear with a '97 transmission as found in other threads here on TT. The crank was a wiseco, but rebuilding it was not an option anyways as some previous owner decied that the crankshaft threads on the stator side were too long and cut off all but a few threads 🤦. So now that leaves me with the decision: What piston to use? Wiseco? Vertex? Pro-X? OEM? I know that many people like the wiseco/forged pistons for longevity. People stated that the forged pistons didn't need as much clearance as in the past, etc but these posts were back from early 2010's. I am leaning towards Wiseco as I assume if anything forged has become even more versatile but my thoughts keep thinking "How likely is it to cold seize? Is it more likely to score my new cylinder than a cast?" and "If more clearance is needed for forged should I be running a cast in my recently plated (stock size) cylinder?" I just tend to over think things sometimes but the last question is the one that is bugging me. Thanks for any opinions/help. Also, is the case sealant just like a high quality silicone? I hear people mentioning HondaBond and YamaBond is good for this. Is this the same stuff you use on for grips?
  9. ConnorMoto

    TTR 125 Mods?

I'm looking to mod out my 2015 TTR 125 but I can't seem to find anything really except for like exhausts, sprockets, rims and obvious stuff like that. If anyone could help me out with some links or just names of stuff that would be great.
  10. I would like to know what the best place is to get OEM parts new/used besides ebay or RMMC. I need a new clutch assembly for my 2001 KTM 250 EXC.
  11. Hey all im looking to get some new fenders for my 1998 KTM 250 EXC does anyone know where I can find them? I searched e-bay and Kiiji in my local area thank you.
  12. Picked up an 04' YZ250 with a cooked engine for $400 the other week, appears that the previous owner attempted a rebuild and advanced the timing WAY too much and detonated until it fried a hole in the piston. Pulled the cases apart last night only to find a Wiseco crank installed. Crank threads on the flywheel side are flattened out as well. Im a huge fan of Ken O'Connor's work and I have followed his guides through several YZ250s with tremendous success. I rebuild these engines 100% with OEM parts, albeit using a Wiseco piston. So heres the issue, honestly for what it costs to rebuild the crank and have it trued ($110 after S&H) and the parts ($160) as well as having the threads fixed, or even sourcing a scorched crank off of ebay ($50). It looks like its worth it to just purchase an OEM one from the factory ($285). Anyone had any experience with this? Not 100% sold on it making it to me with the precision that Ken has put into the cranks he's fixed for me. Realistically its one of the few OEM parts im not certain of the precision of. Any feedback would be helpful.
  13. I purchased Excel 2.15 x 19 rims for my 2013 CRF450r. I ordered aftermarket Moose MX1 hubs which on their web page say bolt to OEM rims. However moose have 36 spokes, and stock have 32. I have both front and rear moose hubs and would like to keep. Moose said their hub bolts to their rim but I don't want moose rims. Is there a 36 spoke excel i can purchase thet will bolt up. Or is there a quality aftermarket hub that has 32 spoke holes and will be just as good? Thanks!
  14. WTB white plastics with 2008 OEM blue decals. I have a 2012 black dizzer. Set up for trail bashing. It has black plastics, suitable for trail -- I could trade you these plastics (if you are interested) plus cash. If you don't want those, I can just pay cash. I'm looking for the stock tank and all plastics with stock decals in good to great condition. I have attached a photo of the color scheme I am interested in. I'm hoping to find someone who swapped out their tank/plastics and have these extra ones and are willing to sell. Let me know. nathan.r.moser@gmail.com
  15. my 06 250x is in for a rebuild and I'm not sure what crank to use. I rode mostly trails with some roads, never at or near rev limiter and maintain it well. i got over 200hr out of the stock engine (valves, piston, rings etc) and i am only rebulding it because its winter and its smoking. valves are still good. i run a stage 2 cam and a jardine full exhaust, ccc mods and backfire screen removed. the stock crank has a little bit more side play than id like and for peace of mind i want to replace it and all the gaskets and such. i have a top end already to go with kibbklewhite ss valves a and cam chain as well as every other little gasket and oring and clip i need. with the cam and pipe should i run an 08 13.5:1 r piston? I've heard these are better. also im not sure which crank to use. will a 2mm stroker add much power? is OEM better than hotrods? I've heard hotrods are poorly balanced but that was on old posts and I've heard nothing recent. I'm mainly concerned about longevity and reliability. the bike won't be getting driven all that much but as my second bike i don't want to have to work on it all the time. its the classic "do it once and do it right". overall i would like a little bit more power but mainly more bottom end torque. it will be my bike for traveling with slower quads and maybe a couple big trips (>800km) and friends to drive. sorry for the long post but i can't find much recent info on this.
  16. Blew top and bottom end last week and my cylinder, piston , crank , head are all destroyed, not sure about anything else yet . I wanted to know if anyone knew where to get a brand new oem cylinder, everywhere has shown that they were out of stock or not able to be added to my cart. If anyone knows where I can get a new oem cylinder please let me know where and a price if possible , thank you
  17. I have a 2013 yx160 gen 3(best generation) motor and the time has come for a new set of friction plates and steels as i wore the original clutch out finally. I want to know what kinda plates would work. Looks like a klx110 but has a crf50 mounting system. I have searched online and all i can find is oem plates and edc braking clutch plates. Was wondering if anyone out there would have any recommendations? Or should i stick to china oem friction plates and steels?
  18. I scrubbed the threads and couldn't find anything about this- anybody have experience with new OEM pistons for a 2000 CR250R and what they typically look like?? Aftermarket ones always look perfect. I ordered an OEM one from rocky mountain that look haggard, sent them photos and they sent me a replacement. Replacement looks the same. Anyone know if this is just what they look like for some reason or did quality control miss a batch?? Very hesitant to put this in my bike unless someone can confirm it's normal. Thanks in advance!
  19. Looking to buy a good condition exhaust for my 1990-1991 KX125, either a Pro Circuit works pipe, or OEM. Also if you have any lightly used parts that you are interested in selling, let me know! Thanks!
