  1. Carb only leaks fuel when bike is running out of the overflow tube inside the carb, which causes the fuel to leak out the bottom of the tube because that is where the tube leads to. The bike does not leak with the fuel on and the bike not running. this means the float is not the problem. Could it be the petcock? Drain screw shouldn't be the problem because if it was the fuel would leak all the time.
  2. I need some help. Had my second one of these bikes stolen from me back in 08 and just replaced it last month. It has sat for awhile so needed a carb clean. First thing I noticed is a bolt screwed into the overflow tube. Okay I figured this was from buddy so he could sell it with a stuck needle and seat. Low and behold when I popped open the float bowl the overflow tube is missing. I'm okay with fixing this, as I have already tried with a stainless pen tube, but I think i have guessed it too short, or since my needle and seat haven't arrived yet the fuels not shutting off, as it still overflows. I will admit I didn't check the required 8mm on the floats as I don't have my rebuild kit here yet. So here's my questions..... Can anyone get me the measurement of the tube and I'll cut a new one and install, or does anyone have a parts carb and wants to sell the float bowl for this carb. Thanks in advance, Art. Tator Fabrications, Langley B.C. Canada.
  3. hey so i encountered a problem so i drained all the coolant, and checked the valves on the bike and it was all in clearance, put it all together filled up the coolant, fired up, let it sit in the garage for a bit noticed coolant leaked out the over flow and i went ahead and topped it off and let it sit for a while and i just looked at it there was what looked like probably most of the coolant that was in the bike on the floor anyone have any idea what i should do next? the store is closed so i can't buy anymore coolant atm i use engine ice.
  4. We purchased a 06 yz 125 recently, was running good until we switched the fuel mixture to what we were running in our 05 yz 250. So we switched back because the mixture used in the yz 250 was way to rich for the yz 125. We drained the old stuff out the gas tank and carb, then flushed it with the new fuel mixture. The previous owner was running ipone samouraï racing oil(between 50:1 and 45:1) we were running in the yz 250 between 40:1 and 32:1, so we switched back to what the previous owner was running. It runs perfectly. Although, now it’s starting to spray gas out the overflow. We had this problem with the 250 and we just tapped on the carb and it got the needle to unstick. We tried that, it didn’t work, so we took the carb off and cleaned everything in the float bowl. Still didn’t fix it. We checked the needle, it seals as we blew air with a gas line through the gas intake and it stops letting air through when the floats closes the needle. So that brings us to believe it’s float height, is there any way we could adjust it without using the “special tool” that everyone says we need. Could it be anything else?
  5. I have a 2004 RM 125 that I cannot get to start. I rebuilt the carb with a Moose rebuild kit. It started the other day (first kick); and when I went to put my boots on to ride/ tune it, it wouldn't start again. We noticed gas pouring out of the overflow. I tried new plugs and nothing, not even close to firing. I set the float in water to test for holes and there seemed to be no issue with it. I will admit that we didn't have a spark plug gapper at the time, so we went with what it came with (i am going to buy a new one tomorrow!!). When i took the spark plug out; it seemed to have good spark. The plug was clean but smelled strongly of gas, also when I kicked it over, you could smell it coming out of the head. When rebuilding the carb, I set the pin on the middle groove, and I took the jets to original settings. I've contemplated taking it to a shop, but I haven't given up yet. I am wondering if you guys have any thoughts of where to begin my troubleshooting.
  6. The plastic overflow on the side of the carb on my son's ktm 65 sx broke at the nipple that the hose goes on. It's not a listed part on the diagram. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks
  7. Hey guys, just looking for some help on this overflowing PWK carburetor. I noticed while out riding about a month ago that the carb was leaking from the float bowl gasket area all around the carb. Finished riding that day and ordered a new gasket and once installed, the carb poured from one of the overflow hoses. I inspected the float and float needle and tested it to make sure it sealed and it did. The floats had a couple of nicks in them so I assumed the floats may have had gas in them causing them to leave the needle stuck open. Just replaced the floats with brand new ones and now the carb is overflowing from TWO of the overflow hoses, sometimes all three. Very typical of me working on a bike only making things worse haha. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Here’s a video showing what I mean https://youtu.be/aaKP1SO0reQ
  8. I own a 1998 Honda XR100R and I've noticed that fuel pours out the overflow when I revv the engine, it also doesn't require any choke to start it cold. I have the carburetor apart at the moment. I'm wondering if the fuel is related to float level and I also heard somewhere that being able to start with no choke cold means the fuel mixture is too rich? Hown do I fix these issues??
  9. I have a Honda xr650r that i bought. I converted it to street and it was running perfectly for 3 months. Fuel started pouring out of overflow one day but it would still run fine. It was intermittent and when it was pouring out of overflow, it would drain the tank if stopped, but if I was riding it wouldn't leak so it was just at stoplights and when starting it. Also, she had always started first or second kick, no choke needed since I'm in hot Texas. Other times, I would open the petcock to start bike expecting it to leak but it wouldn't, next day it would overflow.. you get the idea. But other than that, it ran perfectly. I rode fine for a few more weeks and then I rebuilt the carb using the same settings. 68S pilot, 175 main, B53 comp needle. I noticed several of the screws were stripped, gaskets were bad.. so I got on partzilla and ordered all new internals for the carb. But all the parts were the same OEM parts that i was replacing. I also replaced the entire petcock assembly and fuel filter (also OEM). However, now it will not start at all. Not even a whimper. It is getting a spark, compression is good. Have tried for 2 weeks. Fuel is also still pouring out of the overflow which is what prompted me to rebuild it in the first place. The float height is what is should be but even when I adjust it to where it should be shut off, it will still pour. I havent changed the tang on the new OEM but Ive been experimenting using the old float setting different heights and it has fuel poring out when set at 25mm and when I go the opposite way to 8mm, so it doesnt make sense. The needle and needle jet are not jammed with trash as I replaced those parts as well and have verified everything is clean. I wish I would have gotten a new 2019 XSR900 but Ive already spent so much money converting this to sumo and upgrading suspension and rebuilding other areas of the bike. Im about to just sell it and cry because I feel utterly defeated. pics to show example of my work. Also tried attaching them to this post https://imgur.com/a/S2PFlV9 Im pretty meticulous and exacting which is why Ive never had anything like this happen. Any Ideas?
  10. tldr; looks like my radiator overflow hose was burned or something...or not? Pics: On Friday I changed my oil and noticed that the 2" of coolant in the overflow tank was down to about 1/2", and saw some sticky stuff on various parts of the engine case. Figured I had a leak somewhere but wasn't sure where. Then on Saturday I rode for a while offroad, and when I returned home I saw coolant leaking to the ground. Traced the leak and saw that the hose leading to the overflow tank was leading to nothing but air, and found the other side dangling and dripping coolant. It looks like it got melted through. As far as I can tell this is Part 21 here: (source: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/suzuki/motorcycle/2006/dr-z400sm/radiator) What's confusing is that they show the hose with a split in the middle. Is the hose supposed to be split, and did I just lose some kind of connector? Or is that just a quirk of the diagram, and my hose just melted? Anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? Thanks for your insights.
  11. hello got a question my drz400sm has a fcr slant installed and im having trouble with a gas over flow problem. i love to do wheelies but everytime im far back it just dump gas out of the float drain and the hoeses from the top. the funny thing is if i ride normal or sitting there idling it does not leak. if i leave the pet cock on pri it will also not leak. my buddy has a fcr mx version and when he does wheelies i dont see gas drain from his. i know sometimes the gas can drip and extreme angles but mine dumps full the min i go up an incline. if i roll stoppies does not leak. i checked the float hight and replaced the needle seat and needle also the oring i dont understand what could be causing this. any idea what it could be?
