  1. Hi everyone, ive got an eighties PE 175 I’ve recently restored, which I’m running silkolene comp 2 premix which is ok, but I don’t think it’s really any good, although everyone raves how good it is for older dirtbikes. I was thinking of bel ray or Castro’s as I ran these on other bikes when I was younger ( more for the smell) I’m rebuilding the engine later in the year, and if it’s anything like the bodges I seen on the rest of the bike it will all need doing so I wanna run it something that wont kill everything.   2. Hi everyone and merry chrimbo to all. Ive pretty much finished my resto project and everything’s great apart from the dim lights. I bought the bike with the problem, and thought it would be an easy fix. Nothing seems to fix the fault. So far, I’ve replaced the whole wiring harness, the rear light and wires, brake light switch and wires, front light holder and wires, speedo cable and wires. All 6v bulbs and I even had the light coils checked and replaced. So everything has been done apart from the handlebar switchgear. I had the frame powdercoated, but sanded the main earth point for the harnsess, so it’s a good earth. Even, ground two points of the five engine mounting points away hoping that might help. All the electrics work like they should including the pass light, just dim lights. Has anyone had this problem? Does the engine need to be grounded at every point? I thought if the engine had one good ground that would be enough. Really at a loss with this, and if I can’t sort I have to admit defeat and had it over to an auto electrician ?
  3. Hi, working on an 84 PE full floater, which needs a rear shock to really go off road. Looked everywhere and there’s nothing out there. Does anyone know if an RM one will fit? If so what year and model?? cheers in advance Waz
  4. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help? Have just put together a 1983 PE 175 and bike runs fine, lights are slow to come on and dim. Brake light blows when applied and horn pretty asthmatic too. If I disconnect one either light and the other goes nice bright. Other than I nailed it!! Have checked wiring against a diagram I found on the net and all the wires are where they should be. Checked the connectors on the light related wires and cleaned. Also ground the powder coating back on the earth point. Really haven't got a clue why it the way it is. Any help will be much appreciated, as I spend most nights doing the same thing over and over again which is a little underwhelming. Cheers waz
  5. Does anybody know the float depth on an 82 pe 175 with a VM34 Mikuni fitted. I tripped a post that said 27mm, but not sure if that’s too high, as I assume the measurements taken from the base ( where the gasket sits) to the top of the float. Thanks in advance cheers ?
  6. Hi all, need to flush out a thirty yr old tank that’s got propably thirty years of grit. Not sure what to use; scared of separating oil as it’s a two stroke.
  7. Hi, have an 84 pe 175 and really struggling getting the bike to run properly. Carb was thick with crud, so replaced the pilot and main jet, along with the needle valve assembly. Set the needle midway and mix at one and half turns out. Didn’t run great and raised the needle clip up to lean it out, and 2 and half turns on mixture. Runs ok, but does have a flat spot from close throttle to full open and is dumping fuel back into the box and leaving a puddle. And I can’t understand why. As I said replaced the usual suspects, checked the float and level and all seems good. And although the carb looks good, can’t determine if this worn out, Reed valves or I’m Just being stupid? Any advice would really help, as its doing my nut. Cheers

Hey there, I recently bought a 1979 Suzuki PE250 in pretty good condition for its age I'd say.However the fork seals are leaking and after struggling for a few days to get the fork caps open(they were seized) I have now come to a new problem. The Dust seal Holder seems to be stuck, in the shop manual it mentions some sort of special tool for removing the fork seal but I'm not sure what exactly it would do.The thing seems like it should just unscrew. I've tried whacking it with a screw driver and a hammer and I had some minor progress but its painfully slow so I was wondering if any of you vintage motorcycle wizards would be able to enlighten me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.👍
