  2. Bought my 2015 EXC-F brand new 3 years ago, and haven't gotten to ride her as much as I'd like, but just got back from a 4 day trip in the Utah desert, and for the first time saw some of the shortcomings on my bike. Brand new I just got basic parts installed like a grab handle, skid plate, LED blinker bark busters, etc., but nothing to modify the way the bike performs. After doing some desert riding and some hill climbs for the first time, I think it would be nice to have a little better hold-up in the suspension, and better low-end torque/power delivery. I've changed the gearing over to 13/48, which seems fine for all around riding. My local riding areas are more woods and trails then open desert, but getting out in the desert and on some of the whoops (and riding my buddies '17 suzuki 250 MX'er) I realized how soft the suspension is. So there's two things I want to look at. First would be the suspension. I haven't even touched the clickers on it since I got the bike, as I'm 170 pounds and I'm told the bike is basically set up perfectly for me from the factory. That, and I had a bad experience with my old Yamaha where I never could get the suspension set up right and I'm kind of afraid of messing with it to a point where I'm lost and can't get back to the pretty good factory feel. The suspension seems set up really nice for the trails, but it would be great if it held up a little better in any jumps and whoops. Comparing to the MX bike I feel like I have to time my body position and throttle just right to get a smooth ride in the whoops, where the MX'er you can just power through. So, if I go a couple clicks in one direction or the other, can I keep the plushness in the woods and improve the performance on jumps and whoops, or do I need to start spending big $$ to get a noticable improvement in this department? On the power delivery, when I got the bike the dealer offered to put on an Akropovic pipe and re-map the bike to match. They said it would run a little cooler and bring on more power. Since I hadn't even ridden it yet, I figured I'd put some miles on it and decide later. After talking to the same dealer last week they said they can no longer adjust any mapping, but they could put on the pipe. I don't see what the point would be of bolting on a pipe if I can't adjust the mapping to take full advantage of it. I'd like to increase the low end torque, mostly. So, what options do I have to improve the power output and delivery? Thanks in advance! And because every post is better with pics... Here's one from Swingarm City in Utah
  3. I recently purchased an FMF fatty factory and it came with a dent in it, is this supposed to be there? It doesn't look like a "clearance" bend to make it around the frame etc. Did I just get a lemon?

  5. I have a 2016 YZ250F. I ride/race MX. I'm looking to wake up the motor a bit and am looking at different exhausts. I haven't been able to track down a good pipe comparison for my bike - The best I've found is an MXA shootout for 2014. That shootout rated the Yoshimura the best but gave the pros and cons of each pipe. Is there a pipe shootout for my bike that I just can't find, or am I stuck with digging up individual reviews? If so, could somebody please send me links to some of the reviews? Thanks in advance.
  6. I have several small streams I need to cross. I'm trying to think of a EASY, CHEAP, FAST, REPEATABLE, and RELIABLE way I can make these. They need wide enough for tractor and safe for inexperience riders. If it was just me riding I would just hydroplane over everything or just put double's and soar over them like a phoenix. I want to avoid wooden bridges. A large and safe one is pain to build and I hate lowes. I am thinking of using sections of large drainage pipe or barrels. See picture. Getting a large pipe is not easy, but not impossible. But is there another way I am not thinking of?
  7. I've been looking into getting a new pipe and/or silencer and I'm wondering which ones have the best all-around gains and are suitable for all types of riding. I'm currently running a pro circuit platinum pipe with a turbine core 2 silencer which is alright but the silencer is in pretty rough shape. Any suggestions? Any suggestions are welcome.
  8. Wanting a more progressive torque curve, more traction, more low - mid range power. Not sure which ones of these pipes is better. I was told the FMF Fatty was the way to go, but reading up on the Gnarly makes me think perhaps its the gnarly? Anyone actually have experience with both?
  9. So I recently purchased a 1991 DR350 Dirt model. It has several things on it that are upgraded. It also has several things that I am fixing so that I can ride it. One being the exhaust. So my question is (I know this is subject to opinion) which way to go with the FMF Megamax can? I know there are a lot of these out there on bikes that are in the same condition as mine without any discs or end cap. I have searched everywhere and have not found any used ones to be purchased that are within a decent price range. To me the can isn't worth spending $75 or more to get the missing parts when I could put a Powercore or something else on it and have the same or better performance. On the money saving side, has anyone put the Powercore cone on the end of this pipe and made it work? I have access to a machine shop and tools. The other option is if I were to make some discs and end caps (because the material and time is basically free using ends of metal that get scrapped anyway). It would be just as easy to make 50 discs as 10. Are there that many that would be interested in getting some to fix their FMF pipes. I'm not looking to make $ just trying to help out fellow riders. Just an idea. I know this option is a lot more work. On the other hand, a tight budget and having to work more to make more money also creates more work. Let me know what you think?

Hey guys, currently rebuilding my 1998 KTM 250 that was sitting in my barn for 18 years, got it running beautifully as is but i found yesterday a 2008/2010 SX 250 frame dirt cheap and bought it so im gonna do the swap (I will also do a 2015 plastics conversion, i have subframe/tank and everything to convert it but that's a different topic). Now my question is, is the exhaust frame dependable or exhaust flange dependable? Should i get a PC Platinum 2 pipe for a 98 bike or for a 2008/2010 bike? Attached a photo of the bike as of today. Thanks in advance guys. edit: Nevermind totally different flanges, maybe i can retrofit a newer style flange somehow.

  12. Hello! I bought an old Husky 2 stroke and the pipe is pretty busted. Stock pipes are hard to come by for these bikes so I was wondering if it would be possible to repair this one for less than the price of an FMF. I was thinking a good welder (not me) could cut sections of the pipe and fabricate new ones to weld back in place. Has anyone done this and can tell me how impossible it is and how much of a cheap a-hole I am? Thanks!
  13. I feel like ripping my hair out! I bought a 2005 cr125 years ago, brand new. From day one it was a fouled. Eventually I had it tuned kind of good. A couple of years ago someone stole my bike. Obviously I recovered it. My crank bearings were shot. So I split the cases and changed them and both seals. After assembling the bike it smoked and bogged like crazy. I thought I may have fudged up the right crank seal when I installed it...nope changed it and still smoked and bogged and fouled. It sat up for about a year and I just broke it out again. It doesn't smoke as bad. If I idle for about 10 seconds it'll blubber and shoot out smoke before fouling a plug. The strange part it that it rides pretty good on the pipe, but out of the blue with blubber and eventually die. Now After cleaning the spark plug and kicking it, it'll turn over for a sec and die. The spark looks weak so I check it with a new plug and it looks good (so I'm assuming it's not the ignition system) anyone else have this problem? I'm beginning to think this bike is a money pit...but on the same hand I feel like it's something small causing all of this. Oh and also it's dripping that black crap from the tailpipe and plugs are always wet. I went down a size on the pilot...didnt help.
  14. So I went to start up my bike, and after a bit there was black oil dripping from where the header meets the cylinder. The seals are brand new. I figure it’s because the header is mounted a bit strange since it’s an engine swap. But just to be sure, do you guys think somethings wrong? Maybe i’m running too rich? P.S if you guys need a video of the bike running to see the exhaust smoke let me know.
  15. Hey I'm wondering if anyone knows whether chrome powdercoat can hold up to the heat of an exhaust? I was thinking of doing this because I love the look of chrome pipes and I got a yz250 swapped blaster with a modified pipe, which I cant swap with any other pipes because it would cause fitment issues. Also, would it look as good/shiny as a FMF/pro circuit chrome pipe?
  16. I just received a new FMF Fatty Pipe in the mail for a 2001 YZ125. Should it have dents? One looks like maybe it's factory, but the other two I wouldn't think so but not sure.
  17. I was wondering how would I go about converting a KLR650's single exhaust tip into dual twin tips for under 200$ (example picture below). Is there a pre made system already made?, are there converters and other pipes pieces I can put together to build it?, or is something I have create entirely on my own by cutting and bending pipes? thanks
  18. I have an '08 200xc. I absolutely hate gnarly pipes. I like the KTM/FMF pipe (which is pretty much a fatty pipe I think) but now they are really hard to find. Some pipes say they will fit 06-10 or 03-04 or 04-05 or 06-07 or 00- 06 or 00-05 or 04-15... you get the idea. Whats the real deal here? Ideally I just want a fatty pipe on this bike or just something that isn't focused on low end torque.
  19. I purchased this for my 2005 Honda CRF450X and need to know what brand or mfg it is. It's a full system with carbon fiber end cap, spark arrestor and long header. It's way too loud and I need to ID who makes it so I can see about getting a quiet core insert.
  20. My 2011 YZ250 is undergoing a full engine and chassis rebuild and I have decided to go with a 300 kit (the bike needs a new cylinder anyway so this is a good time to do it). The current YZ250 power curve/delivery is good so i'm not aiming to create a torque monster that doesn't rev, just looking to add more power throughout the current range. I primarily ride MX, intermediate level. My questions for those run an Athena 300 kit are below: Has it been reliable? Is there in increase in bottom end/crank problems? What pipe/jetting do you run/recommend (for MX, 0-1500ft altitude)? Anything I need to watch out for during install (I've heard Athena circlips are bad)? Did you have custom porting done and if so who do you recommend for that? What octane of fuel do you run? Thanks in advance!

  23. So I just got done rebuilding my 2000 rm 250 bottom and top end. Its bored over 2.10mm to be a 265 (I believe). It has a Pro circuit header, FMF shorty silencer, and vforce 1 reeds. Its just barely broken in maybe an hour or two on it so far. It keeps fouling plugs and sounds a little rich. Its running a 160 Main (2 up from stock) and 48 Pilot (1 up from stock) with the needle clip on the stock setting. Should I change my needle clip position? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Hey guys I have 2019 ktm 125 xcw, I live on a small farm but my neighbors house is close to the trails I ride and they complain any help in trying to make my bike quieter it’s stock, I’d like a silencer option that will actually make a difference like the Q stealth but it doesn’t fit my 125, thanks guys 🤙🤙
  25. So I went to change my oil today and after trying to get the Allen key into the bolt head (and stripping a couple times) I gave up. The bolt on the top right of my oil filter cover is completely blocked by the header pipe of my exhaust! Luckily, I just changed the oil filter so it doesn't need it just yet. But what should I do? Do I have to get a new pipe or should I just try to bend it back? And if so, how do I bend it back? Please help!! Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
