  1. Has anyone tried using Athena power valves in an OEM cylinder? Everywhere it states "for Athena cylinder only", yet on Amazon, it states that they're good for both OEM and Athena applications. I've seen both (not side by side, unfortunately), and they looked pretty similar. Didn't take measurements, although I should've. I have read of people trying this but not actually running it. Just was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Thanks in advance!
  2. So I've got a 1993 husky wxc250 2t , but that doesn't matter too much I just need a starting point on something that went wrong. I was about ten minutes into my ride when this happened - I was about halfway through third gear, not an excessive rpm, and I heard a very aggressive noise from the motor, I pulled in the clutch and coasted to a stop (the motor had died). I was almost positive I had blown the motor and it was going to be seized. But when I pushed the kick starter down everything was fine. I pushed it back home, pulled the plug, turned it over, turned it through all the gears and nothing felt wrong. So I figured I would just start it up and give it a shot. I started it up and it sounded fine on idle, but as soon as a gave it any throttle a very loud "clanking" noise came from the top end. Almost comparable to a rod knock, but I can tell it is coming from the top end. My best guess would be something in the power valves, I am experienced with working on motors but power valves are new to me. What do you guys think it is? I'm just looking for I tip before I tear into it. Thanks in advance - Devin
  3. I have a 99 kx 250 that needs a cylinder. I need to know if a 94 kx 250 cylinder is compatible with the 99 model assuming I use the 94 power valves? the bidding ends in a few hours
  4. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran AMAZING after it first bought it used and was in beautiful condition and I picked it up for only 2500. I was riding when all of a sudden it started bogging down right before the power band.i don’t think it’s jetting because the bogging just turned on like a switch and it was running perfect before it. The bike was like that for a month. Apparently the previous owner never oiled the filter so it was dry as a rock and was falling apart and got sucked into to the intake so I’m guessing my power valve is gummed up or stuck close or open. I was riding one day with the bog issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing. When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies.I don’t remember if I left the fuel petcock on but what I’m guessing is that I flooded the engine and tried starting which messed up my electronics. The reason why I think I flooded the Engine is because when I took off the reeds the intake manifold and reed were soaked in gas.I heard that starting the engine while flooded can mess with a woodruff key or your CDI or something. There is spark coming from the plug though. And yes I mix the gas with oil at 32:1 cause I’m in the pipe all the time. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  5. Hey everyone just took apart my 2000 kx250 bottom and top end for rebuild and started to take apart my powervalves. So i found that my main valve spring are not there at all and that shaft(gear) for upper timing don’t have dot at all and rod also don’t have that line up of those teeth..So can i run it without spring? It had a lot of power before and didn’t lack in power at any rpms and how i can do timing to main flap valve ?
  6. Been trying to diagnose pinging issue firstly got a 430 main jet to try but noticed the rc valve was lose as &%$#@! not sure if that would ever create a ping type noise at 3/4 throttle. When inspecting the exhaust valves i did notice towards the ends of the valves that touch the cylinder they was greyish I am thinking now this is defiantly pinging and its to lean on the main jet?
