  1. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran AMAZING after it first bought it used and was in beautiful condition and I picked it up for only 2500. I was riding when all of a sudden it started bogging down right before the power band.i don’t think it’s jetting because the bogging just turned on like a switch and it was running perfect before it. The bike was like that for a month. Apparently the previous owner never oiled the filter so it was dry as a rock and was falling apart and got sucked into to the intake so I’m guessing my power valve is gummed up or stuck close or open. I was riding one day with the bog issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb,checked the reeds,and tried hill starting it but nothing. When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies.I don’t remember if I left the fuel petcock on but what I’m guessing is that I flooded the engine and tried starting which messed up my electronics.The reason why I think I flooded the Engine is because when I took off the reeds the intake manifold and reed were soaked in gas.I heard that starting the engine while flooded can mess with a woodruff key or your CDI or something. There is spark coming from the plug though.And yes I mix the gas with oil at 32:1 cause I’m in the pipe all the time.This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  2. I am looking for advice, my yz250f 2009 has had a issue for awhile now were as I can turn the bike over with my had quite easily. I have yet to do a compression test but am confused, the bike altough low compression does start eventually. easy cold but sometimes first kick hot but other times I'm there got 10-15 minutes. when trying hot it wants to start were it is almost starting everytime but I feel it just needs more compression to start. I have put new spark plug in and jetted carb to where I think it is not longer the problem. no shavings in the oil filter, what should I do ? put new piston and rings in it???
  3. Hey I have a Crf250r from 2004 I live in Arizona and I have been riding in about 95 degree weather but my bike is showing temps of 212 F if it stalls at that temp it will have a really hard time restarting and I often have to bump it what could this issue be

I Have a 2005 kx250f that i bought and the shop i took it too did a compression check and it got only 60 pounds when im kicking it air is coming out the crankcase breather and oil i checked the valve clearence and they were good i took the head off and did a leak test with the valves and they were good and i look at the piston looks brand new with no carbon And cylinder is mint with good crosshatching i have no idea why its doing this could it possibly be the rings and also the bike has been timed perfectly.
  5. I recently encountered a problem with my 2009 kx250f. One day the bike started to bog and backfire soon resulting in the bike to stop running. After trying several common repairs on the bike (New top end, new valves, a whole new carburetor, new stator and cdi box) the bike still will not seem to start and run. If anyone has an idea of what could be the problem i would appreaciate the help. Thank you!
  6. Hi guys, I just bought a new-to-me 2007 KX250F and I am having some trouble getting it to run and was hoping someone here could give me some insight. Here's what I know about the bike. -Previous owner says the guy he got it from put new piston, rings, and gaskets in it, but didn't do valves so it didn't run right. So he put new valves and springs in it and had a shop shim the valves. He then proceeded to tell me that in his honest opinion, the shop did a shitty job on the shims and it should probably be re-shimmed. He also said the guy before him who rebuilt it put new jets in it trying to get it to run right because the valves were bad. The guy I got it from said he took the carb apart and tried figuring out which size jets were stock but eventually gave up and sold it because he had a 450 he was more interested in fixing up. -When I got the bike, it would start with full choke but it backfired like hell, both on startup and decel. -I took the bike apart and noticed the hose clamp on the intake side was completely missing, and the clamp on the slip-on exhaust was loose. I tightened that and it doesn't seem to backfire like it was now. -The throttle cable in the housing was mangled so I ordered a new throttle cable. -Going to order a carb rebuild kit tomorrow, any recommendations? -I also turned the mixture screw in about a half turn but it's difficult because there is no aftermarket screw on it so I have to disconnect the carb to adjust it. With all that being said, it is difficult to start, and when I do get it started, it won't idle without the choke on, hoping it just needs the correct jetting? Seems to have very good compression in comparison to my YZ250F, although I don't have a tester. Any input on this topic would be highly appreciated! Also, should I buy a feeler gauge and put new shims in myself or pay a shop to do it considering I've never done it? Thanks.
