  1. hi all, just wondering i've narrowed it down to these 2 ktm 450 xc f and a honda 450 rx both 2019 all i really need is low to mid power just want to know which one has more low to mid, thanks Archie
  2. So, I found an absolutely beautiful klx300 yesterday on craigslist for $2400. Has roughly 50 original miles. I got it from the original owner who spent the past several years building it. Has all stroker pars including carb, cam, full exhaust system and other little odds and ends. also has brand new factory connection suspension set up for my weight, baja lighting kit, and a street title! Wondering what are the must haves to make it a dual sport like tires etc. It has DOT knobbies but it will be a bit aggressive for the street. thanks
  3. I rebuilt a crf 150r that broke down. It locked up due to no radiator fluid and who knows what else. I bought it and rebuilt the piston, bearings, etc. basically the whole bike. The bike isn't running yet. I need the clutch hub and a few other things but the engine is on but the transmission shifts from 1-5 but I can't shift into neutral. I don't know the problem. Any ideas?
  4. Hello, I just bought a 05’ (bone stock) crf450r today, and besides the bike being fun as hell, my neighbors don’t take to it very lightly. Very lightly as in getting the cops called twice, just by starting it in my garage... So with that being said, does anybody have any experience with how to quiet down these bikes as quiet as possible? I am rocking the stock muffler, however I feel the packing is shot (stock mufflers don’t crack & spit flames??). Is there any mufflers (or inserts) that I should buy that are quieter than stock, or any good recommendations? (Performance doesn’t matter, lets be real a 450 has more than enough power, 5 horsepower isn’t going to make much of a difference) Thanks!
  5. Hi! I have a 2008 CRF250R that wont kickstart, it bumpstarts very easy and runs very good when running! Anyone know any solutions? It is not the valves because those has recently been checked and the carb is not in need of cleaning! Thanks
  6. I know a little bit about these bikes, but I bet nobody has ever had this issue. Within the past month I have been having issues with my 2011 fuel injected honda crf450. The issue originated with the fuel pump filter. When I took it out, it was completely black. Completely clogged full of whatever gunk. I not only replaced the fuel filter, but I replaced the fuel pump as well. I ordered the 60$ kit from ALL BALLS last week. It arrived a few days ago, and I put it in 2 days ago, put everything together, seals oiled and everything, assembly itself was spotless, wires in the right places, hooked it up to the wiring harness and the fuel hose. Kicked it over 6 times to get the pressure built up in the line and it started perfectly. I was able to successfully let it idle by itself until I held the killswitch to kill it. And I kicked it over again and every time it would start excellently. Revving was no issue. Yesterday I took it on its maiden voyage to the main trails we have up here, I unloaded it, kicked it over, started 3rd kick without fast idle knob. Let it idle for 4 minutes and off I went. I drove it down the trail to one of my buddies houses, parked it, and went inside to visit. Back out I came and he was getting his bike ready and I kicked it over, it started and then stalled itself 10 seconds into idling. It would start later that day once and only for 4 seconds. I’m completely baffled. The gas tank breather is clear, the tank is clean, the pump is clean all around, I took the pump apart today and found no dirt in it. Put it all back together, filled the tank with 1/5 of a tank of 93 octane and it fired right up. Nothing bad on the MIL light. Stayed on orange for 3 seconds and then shut off. Then the bike stalled itself. And it has stayed dead. Every time I take the fuel pump apart, and put it together again, the fuel pump wants to turn on for me. And when I fill the tank up all the way the bike will not start. I’ve never seen anything like it.
  7. So I have a 1982 Honda xr200r that was running. Long story short, it was ran without oil and while riding, it went dead. Tore it down rebuilt it. With new OEM piston, rings, and cam. I've gotten it back in time. But here is where my problem is. The intake valve is not seating all the way and it's causing air to come back out of the intake. The cam lobes are down at TDC. Checked the valve/ tappet clearance. I've looked at prices for new valves. My wallet isn't my friend right now, but before I spend the money on new ones. I want to know if you can get valve shims to fit. Because there is not a push rod on these motors like a lawnmower I can't just use the same kind of valve cap type shim.. I don't know if that is the correct name for it but I'm sure you get the point. So the question is, do they make shims that work with the xr200r motors? Anyone know of another thing I've over looked? I feel like I've pulled a stupid and over looked something.
  8. I have a 2015 crf450r and it has about 17 and a half hours on it. When I start it, it runs at an abnormally low rpm for about 20 seconds and then idles up to normal speed. It does this even after the first ride of the day. Pretty much every time I start it. I checked the valves and the exhaust valves are right on spec. The intake valves are on the low end of the acceptable clearance. Maybe just a tad out on the low end. Would that cause it to run like this when it starts or is it something else?
  9. Hi everyone! I'm new to this set of forums, and I have a few questions. I just sold my 2007 Ktm SXF 250, because it had too much power for the trails I ride. I live in New England, usually riding at 0-1000 feet above sea level, and I typically ride slower trails, but I have plenty of space to open her up. I sold the KTM, because to be honest, it as too. much bike. It was made for the track, and on single tracks, the thing killed me. I picked up a 08 250x instead, with hopes to make it into an r. I absolutely loved the power of the Kim, but the ergonomics of it we're just not there. I looked into getting an r head, and just swapping that in, jetting it, and throwing a Q4 slip on on her, but after looking at more and more peoples opinions, they say that the r head only gives it more top end. I'd like to hear everyone else opinions, because now I'm thinking of jetting it at 155 and 42, cutting up the airbox (already did) and throwing a cam in. Everyone is bullying me now because I bought a pu$$y bike because I can't handle a real one!!! All jokes, but I still want that power back. What's the best way to make easy power on the 250x's that will give me the torque to wheelie in every gear like the r??!! Budget doesn't matter, but don't anyone say buy the KTM back. Also, one additional question; where exactly is the pink wire for the pink wire mod? I've looked all around, and can't find it. Most said behind the left rear number pane, but I didn't see it. Anyways, any help is appreciated, and feel free to ask me anything about the bike, I can answer most questions if that helps you figure out what I should do. And one last thing, the stock seat is wayyyy to firm and skinny. Where can I get a soft wide gel seat like the old guys throw on their Suzukis!
  10. If I sit on flat ground in 1st gear with the clutch all the way in the bike still wants to roll forward like its still slightly in gear. Any ideas on the problem, or how to fix it?
