  3. I need help, ideas, thoughts, anything that might help me with the issue I'm having. I purchased the 2021 Beta 350 RRS just two weeks ago. It has already been back to the service shop and they replaced the fuel pump. Today I just purchased a brand new battery for it. #1 - went for short run (4 miles) and bike just stopped running. Engine light came on. When I tried to restart it,, it acted like a dead battery.. Pushed it home. The next morning it started right up. #2 - I had the bike just a few days, I forgot and left the key on and the head light remained on which of course drained the battery. Napa charged the battery up and tested it (yes they used the correct charger)., Bike ran great for 45 minutes and died again mid-ride, pushed it home again. #3 - Bike was taken to dealership, they diagnosed as a bad fuel pump, which they replaced. Brought it home, took it for a ride, it lasted 3 miles, then I stalled it going up a hill, tried to start it and it acted like a flooded motor, it would turn, but not start. #4 - Bike started this AM, rode 1 mile and then back, all good. Got home, put on gear and it lasted 1/4 mile and died yet again. Went and purchased a brand new battery and took it out again tonight, only to push it home for about 1 1/2 miles. Once home, I attempted to start, it turned a few times then just died again. Symptoms: randomly dies during ride. At times it will attempt to turnover, but just not start. Sometimes it dies and attempt to restart sounds like a completely dead battery. Sometimes it sputters a few times before it dies, other times it just simply stops running. Engine light comes on within minutes every time before it dies. So before I shove this brand new Beta dirt bike up the dealerships ass, and just go buy a Honda instead, I thought maybe someone on here might offer some troubleshooting ideas. Thanks!
  4. My son has a 2016 KTM SX-F. He has an intermittent problem with the bike not starting. This recently started happening about 30 minutes after he has been riding, then it will not start for the rest of the day. The next morning it starts and the same thing happens again. When the problem happens, the starter turns over until the battery dies, but it appears that the power relay output (pin 4) which is connected to Pin 1 (Orange Wire) of the diagnostic connector stays at 0 VDC. We stumbled across this when we were checking the fuel pump for power. The control line for the relay (Pin 1) that comes from the voltage regulator (Pin 1) only changes from 13 VDC to 12.9 VDC when the starter button is pressed (probably not enough difference to activate the relay). Then following the signal back from the input of the voltage regulator (Pin 3) to the starter button, this voltage goes from 0.00 to 0.25 when the starter button is pressed. I'm thinking that it may be the voltage regulator, but I don't have enough experience to be sure (of much). I'm trying to attach a schematic below with my color coded notes. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If this is answered in a different thread, I'm sorry to repost. One other thing to note is that when it is running the starter relay gets very hot to the touch and you can smell it heating up, which I'm pretty sure it not a good thing. Thanks again. Dave
  5. Guys I am new to this website. I am 17 years old. I will start from the beginning. I changed my oil. Next day I was riding and the bike died 2 minutes into riding the track. We tried bump starting the bike at the track. Never fired up. Brought it home from the track thinking it was an electrical issue. Checked the battery and it had 12.8 volts at the battery. Had power to one side of the starter relay, no power to the starter. Tried bypassing the relay, still nothing. Ran a direct hot lead from the battery to the starter, nothing. Ran a direct ground from the battery to the starter, nothing. Bypassed clutch safety switch, nothing. Bypassed the starting switch, still had the same results. Took the starter off and tested it with a battery, turns over no problem. Since I bypassed the starting relay, I don't think it could be the issue. When I tried to start the bike, the starting relay just clicks. Tried turning the engine over manually, SEIZED. Turns out I installed the oil filter backwards. Just after 2 minutes of putting around, the engine seized. Had the top end 100% rebuilt. Got the bike back, and I am still in the same position with the electrical issue. I have gone over the schematic wiring diagram, and I believe it could be either a faulty CKP sensor, faulty register, faulty diode, or a faulty main relay. Couldn't find any lose connections, all the wiring seems to be intact. Any advice would help. At a standstill at the moment. Gmoney
  6. Could use some help if anyone has a minute. I am installing some new items on my 2017 250L. Just put in a K&N air filter and now I am trying to install a TST brake light/fender eliminator kit. Had some fitment issues with bracket on my 2017. I will make a new thread for review of TST items installed. (I really like the quality and look just a few things to make people aware of). The issue I am having is finding the flasher relay. TST does not supply instructions but rather has great quality videos but not for 2017 model and the flasher relay is not in the same as in their video that is on a 2016 I think. Anybody know where the flasher relay is on 2017 ? Thanks in advance for any help for a guy with his bike tore apart staring at the wall haha
  7. Hello. So, long-ish story... I will try and include all the details I can. I have a 06 drz 400e. I replaced the battery with a Tusk lithium battery as I was having some starting issues. Put in the new battery, everything works. Bike turns over, lights turn on, etc.... So, I start tying all the wires back up... Come out the next day and nothing, dead. Battery is charged. Headlight no longer turn on when I turn the switch (it did before) I push the starter button, nothing. I did some research about the starter relay, test it based on a video tutorial from RMATV. It seems dead. So, I order a new one. New one arrives today, install it, nothing. Test it again, nothing. No ohms reading per the RMATV video ( ) So, that the hell is going on? I have no clue what to check now.... Can anyone offer some help? Thanks.
  8. So I bought a Baja Designs Squadron Pro and want to install it. It has a 12v Adapter on the end of it(pic 1) and comes in a headlight holder/cowling (pic 2 below), and the lamp itself is installed in the cowling on a screw in plate (pic 3 closeup). The factory DRZ headlamp has a turn signal relay in it and that is attached by a small metal tab in the lamp housing of the factory headlight. I can find no videos or detailed post, or god forbid documentation from Baja Designs on how to do this on a DRZ. The dimmer switch does have decent documentation, Here is what it appears they want you to do? Let me know if you agree: 1) pull the old flasher plug and relay off the old light 2) remove the old light 3) cut off the old cabling (a dark yellow wire, light yellow wire, black/white and a white) 4) wrap the flasher plug and relay in some kind of waterproofing 5) It does come with an adapter that gets you from the adapter shown below to raw wiring. 6) Presumably your supposed to take a multimeter and locate a 12v supply line? Any ideas what would be the best answer for that source? 7) I have the dimmer kit and the kit (from Skene) has good doc. But I want to try it without the dimmer first.
  9. Hi all. First post here. 🙂 Bought a crf250l 2017 a few months ago (Thailand) and installed a DRC edge tail with rear LED blinkers. The fronts are still stock (non LED), and now I would like to fix the fast blinking with a plug and play relay that a shop recommended. However, for the life of me I cannot find the location where the relay needs to be plugged in. Is it still somewhere around the horn? Including the pics where I was searching below.
  10. Has anyone ever replaced their signal relay with a non-suzuki one? Would a cheap/generic 12V, 23W one off ebay or amazon work? Any input would be appreciated on any experiences with a 3 dollar one vs a 50 dollar one.
  11. Can anyone provide some guidance in how to wire a KTM 250 xc-w for lights. I have already purchased a rear brake light and blinkers. My understanding based on some of the kits I have seen which I don't like because they include lights and blinkers that I do not want. These are the parts I have assembled but need the wire harness and a diagram on how it all connects to battery including any fuses or rectifiers or anything else I would need. I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Below are some of the parts I found: Motorcycle 2Pin 11-15V LED Turn Light Flasher Blinker Relay Signal Controller ($5.92) Motorcycle 2Pin 11-15V LED Turn Light Flasher Blinker Relay Signal Controller 6107931728455 | eBay Motorcycle Rear Set Hydraulic Pressure Brake Light Switch Banjo Cable 10x1.25mm ($7.99) Motorcycle Rear Set Hydraulic Pressure Brake Light Switch Banjo Cable 10x1.25mm | eBay 2pc lights Strip 6LED Baomabao Mini Strip Black led motorcycle Turn signal Universal Amber (1.99) put these in inside https://www.amazon.com/lights-Baomabao-motorcycle-signal-Universal/dp/B075WRKH8N/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1524592870&sr=1-11&keywords=turn+signal+motorcycle Dirt Enduro Bike LED Rear Fender Brake Tail Light Turn Signal Off-road For KTM(12.31) Dirt Enduro Bike LED Rear Fender Brake Tail Light Turn Signal Off-road For KTM | eBay Pair Universal 7/8' Motorcycle Handlebar Switch Horn Turn Signal Light Control(11.49) A Pair Universal 7/8' Motorcycle Handlebar Switch Horn Turn Signal Light Control 970232175893 | eBay 12V Waterproof Loud 105dB Universal Motorcycle Car Bike ATVs Horn Black (6.50) https://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Waterp...651699&hash=item33e6a5501d:g:26YAAOSwEsRaxvq3. As you can see getting all the parts separately is a bit less that buying a kit which has parts I don't want. What I am missing here is the main wire harness to connect everything together and a diagram on how to do this. Also need to know where I need add fuses or anything else so I don't drain my battery. thanks for any help piecing this together. John
