  1. Just bought a 2000 KX 250 two-stroke for a great deal when looking for a project bike. When I put the bike in neutral which is a little hard to find, it jumps into first gear by itself and trys to takeoff no matter if I squeeze the clutch lever or not. When I first started the bike it basically did a burnout in my garage with no throttle applied and the clutch lever pressed then it just stalls out eventually this happened for about five seconds. Attached are some pictures of my clutch disk and clutch basket from what I researched today the basket should not look this bad , but do you guys think? Is the clutch the source of my problems or is it something internal and would I need to split the case.
  2. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran AMAZING after it first bought it used and was in beautiful condition and I picked it up for only 2500. I was riding when all of a sudden it started bogging down right before the power band.i don’t think it’s jetting because the bogging just turned on like a switch and it was running perfect before it. The bike was like that for a month. Apparently the previous owner never oiled the filter so it was dry as a rock and was falling apart and got sucked into to the intake so I’m guessing my power valve is gummed up or stuck close or open. I was riding one day with the bog issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb,checked the reeds,and tried hill starting it but nothing. When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies.I don’t remember if I left the fuel petcock on but what I’m guessing is that I flooded the engine and tried starting which messed up my electronics.The reason why I think I flooded the Engine is because when I took off the reeds the intake manifold and reed were soaked in gas.I heard that starting the engine while flooded can mess with a woodruff key or your CDI or something. There is spark coming from the plug though.And yes I mix the gas with oil at 32:1 cause I’m in the pipe all the time.This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  3. So, my KTM 450 EXC started making a weird noise today. Did a full oil change filter change and cleaned out both filters under and on the side of the case via the 2 access bolts. After that, I took it for a spin opened the bike up full throttle and about half way through my rpms the bike lost all power. Happened twice. Went home checked everything and and it started making a weird noise like something was loose on the inside. Checked the 2 mesh filters, all in good condition, put everything back together, refilled the oil. Just about 1.7 liters of oil were put in (still did not show on sight glass) It’s 0.5 liters more than recommended... The bike runs fine now, but when I have the decomp lever pressed and I used the kick starter and slowly kick down there is a ratcheting type noise from the inside. Definitely not there before the oil change. I’m very confused. Suggestions? Noise if difficult to hear over video Picture of bike included just because
  4. Recently took a side impact from a utility at ~30-40kph, left hand side, bike then took a fair spill onto the right hand. Most of the impact happened between the bar (Driven sideways out of bar clamps about 25mm) , and left radiator (left aftermarket rad guard bent out of shape somewhat) the shift lever took a hard enough strike to stick a fair dent (7-10mm deep) in my TT case guard. Local dealership is insisting on replacing a front brake lever and realigning the bars only (to avoid a write off) what sort of work could I reasonably expect to restore bike to safe condition? Should the engine be split to inspect the gear box? (I only ask this as I thought I read once impacts to the shift lever of that nature require it) Sorry for no pictures, makes it hard. 2008 Drz400E 12,000km
  5. So I do most all my own work on my bikes and there are times that I need to have a little extra light on the parts I'm working on. Holding a flashlight to see close up items is a drag, then I remembered the little magnet light I bought from Amazon a while ago for my drill press. Well it seems to work pretty good for lighting up your subjects on your bike as well. Of course this will not work on aluminum, but where ever there is steel, its pretty handy.   6. So a abit of background information. bike is a 2018 husqvarna tx 125. bike had 100 hours on with apparently new piston at 60. rode the bike a few times felt fine power seemed a bit strange bottom end power was nice but top end was abit less snappy than what I expected . ( I thought this was normal as I had mx bikes and this was my. First enduro). I put about 10 hours on it (not hard riding)and seemed a little lower on compression but still started after 2/3 kicks (originally was first every time).I also noticed as slight clicking noise when the revs where at very low rpm (almost like piston slap). So...... I was out for about 2 hours not riding very hard as I intended to put piston in next ride but on the way back to van I opened it up near enough flat out (out of curiosity)then slowed down and bike bogged out&died . Afterwards it would not start! the compression is now considerably low I have new spark plug and carb has been cleaned and the bike won’t start (obviously without compression ). so my personal diagnosis is the rings have gone. My question is could it be anything else before I change top end??? Will it need a full engine rebuild & also what piston do you think would be best???? any response would be great thanks.
