  1. Laced and trued my first wheel the other day and was able to get it pretty straight. I did come across about 8 spokes that had a bend at the nipple. Is this normal or should I redo/replace the spokes? Let me know. Thanks
  2. About 6 months ago the anodizing on rim wall developed a white streak around the circumference. I checked the spokes and they were a bit loose so I tightened them up. Now the anodizing has done a similar thing between each of the spokes. I've checked the spokes again and they all seem to be ok when I tap them with a screw driver. The rim doesn't appear to be deformed when I run my finger over it and it still runs true. I'm pretty sure the rim needs replacing, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what caused it.
  3. Just bought a 2015 KX 450F and I'm looking for a rim and sand paddle. I want a separate rim & tire so I don't have to worry about mounting and unmounting the tire on the rim. Looking to buy used to save some $$$$. I found a rear rim from a 2012 but not sure if it will fit my 2015. Does anyone know if this will fit my bike?
  4. So I was doing a tire change and noticed this on the inside of my rim. The outside looks fine and the rim sidewall is perfect. What is going on with the inside of the rim? It looks like it's exploding inside out?
  5. I need some insight on what the differences of an eighteen inch rim are compared to a nineteen inch rim. The bearings on my 01 cr completely went out and busted inside the hub, ruining it. I figured rather than buy a hub and deal with getting the spokes in true id just but a complete rim. i dont have much $$ at the moment and im trying to get to the track by oct 10th. I found a complete rim on ebay but its a nineteen. my CR250 has 14/53 sprocket setup and i was wondering if it would affect my performance or how it would change how the bike delivers power? i dont have money for a new sprocket too atm, what should i do?
  6. I have an 03 CRF150F that has a pretty bad wobble in the front wheel. It has the OEM rim on it, 19x1.40 w/36 spokes. For some reason, Honda is REALLY proud of their CRF150F rims, and want $125 for a new one. However, the same size front rim from an XR/CRF100 or CRF125F are only $25-$30. I realize that the spoke/nipple sizes are different, but is there any reason I couldn't use an XR100 rim and lace it with CRF150F spokes if I drilled the holes out larger? Could nipple size be an issue? Center well depth? I'm not looking for weight savings, or bling, just a straight wheel assembly. Or, if nobody knows the drop-in capability, I sure could use a lesson in spoked wheel compatability. Does anyone know a good site for learning what features really matter when trying to swap rims? Thanks for the insight in advance.
  7. At school and shopping for nitromousses. Bike´s at home and dont know what is my rim width is (mum doesnt even know what is a rim so I cant get her to take a picture). anybody know what rim width comes stock on a 2015 KTM 300 XCw THANKS
  8. Hi, I've searched high and low through forums and t'interweb and can't find any info on the differences, if any, between the swingarms. Seeing as they're near identicle bikes until the 2018 I'm hoping the 2016 or 17 models have interchangeable rear wheels. I ride in the desert with the yz450f and am looking at the fx for the bigger tank options and wider gearing but I prefer the 19 inch wheel for the 410 semi-sand tyre and reduced weight, pinch flats aren't really a problem. Any ideas?
  9. So i have a 07 250r. Ill start by saying I regularly keep up on maintenance and the bike is pretty mint. I was at the track about 3 weeks ago when my chain snapped right before i was on the face of a 60ft tripple. Thank god because when i pulled over i had not a single rear spoke still tight. This was around 2 in the afternoon not long after i got at the track and i was gonna stay there the night to so I didn’t wanna waste a day and a half of riding so i pushed the bike to my camper and tightened every spoke with vise grips. I know how to properly true a wheel and everything but I didn’t wanna go through the time and like i said I didn’t wanna waste riding time. Now i’m back home and half my spokes turn and half of them are stripped. When i start the bike and put it in gear on the stand the rear rim is pretty warped but in real good condition (no dents at all). Its also a $270 excel rim and id rather pay $120 for an excel spoke set but idk if its possible to true a rim that has had stripped spokes/turning spokes. Lmk if its worth it to true the wheel myself with all new spokes or I should just get a new rim and spokes. Thanks for reading. Hope to hear some good feedback. Also if you know anyone that knows how to recreate these red bull graphics lmk i want the same kit with numbers
  10. New here and new to dirt bikes. I bought a blown up beat to shit 98 yz125. It’s mostly restored now thanks to a lot of YouTube but my rear rim is cracked. The 98 has a different axle size than the 99+ and I can’t find any decent used or new wheels to fit. I have aftermarket talon hubs that are fine. Now to my question, are there any aftermarket rims and spokes that I can buy to go with the hub? Any other suggestions?
  11. Hi guys, I bought a 2005 Honda CRF 250X and the original rear rim was in very bad state, with all the spokes loose and the holes in the rim too wide, so I couldn't adjust the spokes and went to a shop where they replaced the rim with a new Excel rim and new spokes. I used the new rim for 3 or 4 times till I had a flat tyre last saturday, changed the air chamber and only then I noticed that all the spokes in the sprocket side seem to be bent near the head, not the disc side... I do not think it is correct and tried to see if the rim was the correct one to my CRF 250X bike but could not find any info on the Excel part number my rim has ( 401 ). For what I saw in the Excel website they don't even have this 401 reference and the correct for the CRF 250X seems to be the 411. Anybody have any info on this 401 Excel rim and what could be the reason that one side of the rim have all the spokes bent? Thanks in advance for any help and best regards, Mike
