  1. Ok so i know there aren't many snowmobile guys on here but its more so an motor based problem, and their are lots of motor experts on this. So i have a 1998 polaris 488 indy super sport. Its a 2 cylinder 2 stroke motor(air cooled), no power valve system and about as basic as it gets. I got the sled not-running for free and the compression was too low to start, i wanted to keep it cheap so i put new rings in it and now the compression is back to where it should be. After the rebuild it fired right up and the first time i took it through the yard it barely had enough power to make it around. I ended up thinning out the gas mixture with the needle and clip in both carburetors, and it decided to run very well. I took it up and down the yard a few times and it ran perfectly. I had it running perfect for about 45 minutes and then i parked it. i came back a week later, i was about 10 minutes into my ride when it started bogging and running like crap again. Its hard to describe how it runs but i will attach a video to demonstrate. It is very boggy at low rpm, very little throttle response. But if you let the rpms rise and get to powerband, it sounds like it should and has good throttle response. keep in mind this is in a neutral position. it will not idle without me applying little pressure to the throttle and even then it runs boggy. When you try and drive the sled here is what happens, first it bogs down until you hit medium rpm range, then it hit power band and speeds up for about 5 seconds, then if you keep holding the throttle it bogs down until it will eventually kill. It reaches close to max rpm and powerband is decent. If you don't get it started right away it eventually floods itself, it will also not run or start with the choke on. I've ridden many of these sleds with the identical motor so i have an idea of how they are supposed to run. I'm just looking for a head start of what might be wrong so i don't throw unnecessary parts on it. here are the things i have done with it since then: Cleaned the carbs, adjusted fuel/air screw, cleaned fuel pump, new rings/seals/oil lines and filters/ spark plugs are brand new and gapped Here is what i suspect is wrong: To much gas is getting to it, reason being is i can see gas actually shoot backwards out of the carbs sometimes, wont start with choke Let me know if you need more info or you have an idea, Thank you I can’t put the video on this apparently but if you want it I can dm it*
  2. Carb has been cleaned, fuel is good. Plug is good, compression is good enough to run. Anybody got any ideas? YouTube link It won’t idle and won’t get over a certain rpm no matter the throttle

Hi all, I am after a bit of advice on how to cure the running problems I’m having on my 2009 250 EXC-F The problem I am having is the bike is difficult to start once hot both off electric start and kick, spluttery when giving small blips off idle and will sometimes stall and also gets lots of pops, bangs and occasional flame on deceleration Mid range and top end performance feels good Carburettor is clean and currently set to stock factory settings and I have also tried a taffmeisters jetting kit with not much effect I get very little response from the fuel screw and the bike will continue to idle when all the way in and revs don’t seem to increase when backing the screw out incrementally to 2.5 turns out Valve clearances have been checked and are in spec Leak down test shows less than 10% leakage Air filter is clean along with new CR9EIX plug Any advice would be much appreciated Cheers Adam
  4. So I just did a bunch of seasonal stuff to my DRZ 400 (oil, filters, plug, carb rebuild, etc...) Bike ran fine before I started the maintenance. After I swapped the stock plug for the Iridium version the bike wouldn't stay idling so I swapped back to a new basic plug, same issue. Thought maybe all the maintenance caused something to clog the carb. Went ahead and rebuilt it. Same issue. Went on here for some diagnostic help. Saw a discussion that mentioned unplugging the 3 yellow wires to the stator. That worked, so what does that mean. What should I be doing next and what part may I need to replace? Any type of help here would be appreciated. Photos and step by step for dummies is a plus.
  5. Hey All, This could just be me being a dumbass but I'm 100% sure that the gas switch is on PRI when it is running and it runs great, idols fine. But then I switch it to "on" and will be riding for a little and it the engine stops running and acts like it does when something runs out of gas. Any thoughts? Could the vacuum that sucks the gas be broken? Is it bad to run on PRI? Thanks

Though I'd ask the question on here since I couldn't find what I was looking for online, just bought a 2011 KX250F bike is in really good shape and the valves were just done, got paper work, bikes runs great at idle and at every speed but if you just cruising at a low speed it's runs pretty rough. Also pops and backfires some times after letting of the gas after WOT. Not sure how these EFI bikes are suppose to run since this is my first. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

  8. My DRZ has been very slowly becoming harder and harder to shift into neutral. Sometimes it just won't. I shift all the way down to first, and try to half upshift into neutral, and it's like i'm pulling my foot up on a solid object. I just cannot get it to upshift no matter what. When i'm rolling it seems to shift easy, but stopped is a NO GO. I just did a fresh oil change today. (Somebody said an oil change fixed his no-go neutral bike). Can somebody please help me out here? Give me some ideas maybe from 'Probable the issue' to 'could possibly be'. And i'll go down the list and try to get this solved. Thanks in advance peeps.
  9. I just did a top end on an rm 125, the bike would stay running before I did the swap, now I can't get the bike to idle properly. It starts first kick and will idle for a minute but won't stay running without some throttle, also struggles whenever you click into gear. I'm running 32:1, adjusting the idle and air screws didn't help much, my float was good and I cleaned all my jets. Not sure what to try, any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
