  1. Bought myself a 2005 cr125r in good condition to switch up to 125 class from 85. Anyway I've got the bike jetted nicely it idles runs perfect brand new top end but now I've decided i wanna make some more horses. I don't have complaints on the power but i feel like the powerband kicks in a little too smoothly. currently on the bike is Vforce 3 reeds and cage, stock pipe, stock carb, R304 shorty. I hear the long style DEP silencers and FMF SST pipe are a great combo for top end power but i want some feedback before i buy anything. i was also considering some carbontech reeds either the 106mt/106ht but im not sure if they will fit in the Vforce 3 cage. If anybody's used these let me know how they are. im trying not to send off the engine but i hear raising exhaust ports and milling off the base works wonders but im also not trying to spend more than 5$ a gallon on gas lol. im open to any ideas thoughts whatever just let me know what you guys think is best for some 2/3 and up power!
  2. Hey guys, I'm new to thumper, but I was hoping I could find someone who could help me. HERES THE DEAL! I've been riding 4 strokes for about 7 years now, but the 2T world has recently gotten my attention! I currently ride a 2006 YZ250F. (Fully rebuilt by myself;). I ride the piss out of it and I feel like it's missing something. I've tried shaking things up like riding different terrain(sand dunes,Rocks, etc.) I thought maybe I would try a 450, I got to ride my buddies CRF450X. lol that bike humbled me. It was way to high and It felt a LOT heavier. I crossed out the 450 bc I think it would be a waste and I wouldn't be able to push the bike to its limits. With that being said I'm trying to decide between (2017 Ktm 150 sx, 2017 Ktm 250sx, and 2017 YZ250 and/or the X model). Here's me.. I'm roughly 5'8" 175-185lbs. I lift 5-6 days a week. I enjoy riding anything and everything as long as I get to ride.
  3. PRIOR INFO Hey all, before i start i want to introduce some prior info in case it helps you guys give me some feedback. I'm a south Florida sand track rider that currently rides a 2015 CRF150RB and would probably classify as a 85cc B rider. I learned to ride on this bike and I still feel it has plenty of room for me to get better on and still has plenty of power left for me to use, i usually only top out 4th gear occasionally with a 56T rear sprocket. The reason i'm considering a 125 within the next year or so is because i'm 5'7" and growing and about 130 pounds and soon i wont fit on this bike. I figured that a 125 two stroke would be perfect since i'm still able to find power with this bike and i ride sand a lot, also so i don't get lazy . ACTUAL QUESTION Currently I'm set on a CR125R because i'm just a Honda guy and from what i've heard these days if your getting a Japanese bike is pick your favorite color and ride it because most of us don't push the bikes to the limit anyway. In my area I see only 1998's 2001's and 2004's. I don't know much about the year history but i heard there were weak engines from 01-04 and the aluminum frames sucked from 99-04. You guys have any insight? The 04's look the best around here but i'm not sure they perform the best.
  4. Hi everyone, ive got an eighties PE 175 I’ve recently restored, which I’m running silkolene comp 2 premix which is ok, but I don’t think it’s really any good, although everyone raves how good it is for older dirtbikes. I was thinking of bel ray or Castro’s as I ran these on other bikes when I was younger ( more for the smell) I’m rebuilding the engine later in the year, and if it’s anything like the bodges I seen on the rest of the bike it will all need doing so I wanna run it something that wont kill everything. Thanks in advance
  5. Hey guys, I bought a 1998 yz250 that needed a top end rebuild. When checking the bike out the top end was already off, piston still on the rod. It turns over freely. I pressed the kick lever down and the piston obviously goes up and down. Basically the bike was a $700 buy that needed a top end. no big deal. new excel rims and dunlop tires, had everything to rebuild the top end already, new renthal bars, grips, etc. plastics worn out but no big deal. well worth the $700 in my book. So here's where my problem lies, after putting the top end back together, i'm finding it super difficult to kick. before i put the head cap on, the piston moved up and down smoothly in the cylinder as i pushed down on the kick lever. as soon as i put the cap on and the spark plug in, it became almost impossible to kick. I stand on my dirt bike stand to give me leverage on the kick lever and put all 200lbs of myself on to the kicker and i've gotta give it a little bounce to get it to kick. When it does drop all i hear is the piston stop at the top of the cylinder like its got all the air compressed. I'll reset the kicker and drop down on it and it'll kinda drop or get hung up like the piston doesn't want to suck back down and when the piston finally gets low enough in the cylinder i can hear a thump of air out the carb. I tried kicking this thing for a half hour with the piston getting hung up because of the compression not wanting to let it go. At least thats what i think is going on. and when i get the piston to clear the intake, it finally releases the trapped air. As far as spark goes, i've got a ngk 8es or something like that. not sure off hand. I do know its not the R plug. spark was there, wasn't the strongest spark but not the weakest either. Any idea on what could be going on? I think my next step is to take the plug out and see how easy it'll kick with out the plug in it. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
  6. Oke, so im not opening an oil topic here on what oil is best/better. but in the karts here we ride with motul kart grand prix. it smells awesome. but on the bottle it says ester. motul 800 also has ester. What is so special about ester compared to other oils?
  7. This is my new 1992 project bike. Suzuki rm125 , I plan to get it running right as it’s not pulling in the top end, fresh plastics/graphics, grips levers cables etc.
  8. For the launch of the 2018 Enduro models Husqvarna Motorcycles decided to visit Canada to experience the pioneering spirit. So we've invited 48 media guys from all over the world to Panorama, BC to test ride and experience the new 2-stroke fuel injected models.
  9. I know this question has been asked a thousand times, and I have looked through the forums with mixed opinions (mostly recommending 4 strokes or the EXCs which I totally understand, but i miss my 2 stroke when I was a kid lol) The EXCs are a little more than I'd like to spend for a second bike at the moment. I am looking for some advice on which bike to buy. I have a DRZ400sm that was mostly for road, but earlier this spring I got a full dirt setup for it. This has gotten my dad back into riding so I'm looking to get another bike so we can both ride. He has only ever ridden 2 strokes on trails but that was back in the 80s. I am currently between these bikes: cr125, cr250, kx125, kx250, yz125, yz250. I know these are all MX bikes, but are they really that bad for trail riding? We would probably be doing 70/30 trail/track. Any other bike suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm not really picky on the bike, I would just prefer a two stroke. For reference I am 6'4 about 235 lbs Thank you all for your time and input!
  10. Ive grown up on a 70cc 4 stroke and an xr100 and im looking into getting my next bike. Im thinking about the rm125. Would it be the right choice for me? thanks.
