  1. Hello everybody, I've got some issues with my WR 450 F, it's the '12 version with fuel injection. I noticed the speedo wasn't working, its reads 0 when riding. checked the speedo cable, looked fine. A mechanic friend checked it and said the cable is working. I checked all the connections, opened up all the sockets and even mesured resistance of the cables that go from the speedo cable too the dash. Nothing seems abnormal. Still reads 0 &%$#@!ing annoying. Anybody got some tips? thanks!
  2. I have a 2008 Yamaha r6 I bought with the speedometer not working but the turn signals indicators, brights indicator, and neutral light work but no RPM or MPH Can someone who has had a similar problem mind helping me out ? Thanks
  3. Hey so I just purchased a brand new 2018 fe 501. Awesome bike so far. One problem I noticed is when I rode after dark this evening, I could not read my speedometer because it does not stay backlit by itself. The light only comes on when I push a button on it and then it stays on for only about 2 seconds. Is there anyway to change the settings to make it stay on? Maybe auto come on when it’s dark? Or do I have a defective unit? Any help appreciated thanks.
  4. G'day Guys, I have a 2004 WR450F and I have been given a 2009 WR450 digital speedo and wiring harness and I would like to fit the digital speedo to the 04 model. Has anyone successfully achieved this and may have any tips etc you could share? I have tried searching the forum with no success Cheers
  5. Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently bought a 2002 WR 250. It's my first big 2-stroke and I'm really excited to get it out into the wild. Before I can do that, I need to fix a few small issues tho. The previous owner didn't care much for silly legalities, like lights, a speedometer or mirrors. I, on the other hand, really enjoy not getting pulled over to be forcibly seperated from my hard earned money. Luckily, the original wiring loom and most base components like the regulator are still on the bike, although I'll have to make a few fixes here and there. I found out it makes good power, a quick hardwiring on the headlight worked perfectly. I ordered a new universal handlebar switch and will be wiring that in according to the wiring schematic I found in the manual. Hopefully, everything will work without having to completely redo the loom. Now for my question, I want to install a dashboard on my bike, with all the control lights etc. My bike has what seems to be a magnetic pulse counter for the speedo on the forks, there's no wires on it tho. It also has a speedomount, but no speedo. The dashboard wiring is all there (Not sure if it's all good tho). I'm thinking about ordering a cheap Chinese digital dashboard with magnetic pulse drive, and wire all that up to the original loom. (Like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LCD-digital-dashboard-motocross-tachometer-gauge-speedometer-of-racing-motorcycle-replacement-Refit-sensor-C0024-Car-styling/32817409209.html or this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/WUPP-Motorcycle-Meter-LED-digita-Indicator-light-Tachometer-Odometer-Speedometer-Oil-Meter-Multifunction-With-night-vision/32953485118.html ) Why such a cheap one, you ask? Well, because I'm a man of simple needs. And also I'm a cheapskate and I don't like the idea of paying 150 euro's for a Trail Tech with all kinds of functions I won't use. I'm open for suggestions on a good cheap tacho / speedo dash if these are rubbish. Does anyone have experience wiring something like this up to a WR? Since I have a powersupply without a battery, will these things have issues with resetting or voltage spiking etc.? Can I add a small battery to fix that? There's only one wire from the stator to the rectifier. I'm not familiar with that system, but I can imagine it's a bit less stable than a 3 fase stator and rectifier and it might not be suitable for wiring in a battery. Or should I drop this idea completely and try to source an original dash? A 2nd question I have is about the brake light switch. My bike doesn't have one and I can't find where it's supposed to go. Can anyone tell me where it should be and maybe even give me a part number? That'd be awesome.
  6. I noticed on my XR the other day that underlying the speedometer is some sort of tach gauge. Is this there to give the rider a rough idea of RPM when cruising in 5th on stock gearing? Any ideas?
  7. Hey, I've just bought a CRF 450 L from 2019, and I'm waiting for it being delivered. I want to rebuild it to a supermoto as soon as possible. I've already bought some 17" wheels but I'm facing a problem with the speedo. Furthermore, I saw some people use the SpeedoDRD calibration device from 12 O'Clock Labs but its pretty expensive and I want to keep it as simple as possible. I've heard that warp9 equipped their wheels with some ABS pulser rings that fix the speedo. As already said I have some different brand wheels, but I still would like to get that ABS pulser ring, but I can't seem to find one. I've search on the internet, but I didn't find anything about that. Does somebody know which pulser ring I exactly need and where I can buy one? I already wrote warp9 and asked if there is a way I can buy such a ring separately but I'm still waiting for an answer. I would really appreciate some help!
  8. So I've noticed something curious and wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. '18 300rr. I mangled my speedo signal wire and front brake hose in a stack a while back. I've been riding for months since then. replaced the brake hose but left the speedo inop. cause I can't see it behind my flexx bars anyway. before my last ride I checked the hour meter 40 hours. rode for about 4 hours. with breaks I had to have put at least 3.25 hours on it. Meter still reads 40 hours. Now that I'm thinking about it I feel like I checked the hour meter in the fall and it was at about 40 hours back then around the time I broke the speedo signal wire. Anyone else experienced the hour meter not properly counting the hours without a functional speedo? Todd
  9. Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum, but I have been reading other topics for a while now. I'll give a brief description of my problem first; My speedometer and headlight began flashing and would stop doing so when the throttle was released, the footage I linked is not mine, but it is exactly the same problem I was having. To explain in more detail, I was on my ride home when I first noticed the headlight flickering, after watching it I noticed the speedo was doing the same. I got home and messed with the bike a little, and when I would open the throttle above a certain rev the speedo would begin to flicker like in the video attached. When I first encountered the issue it was day time and the speedo backlighting was not on, after I left the bike for an hour or two I came back to check the bike again, at this point it was night time and when I turned the key the speedo backlight did turn on. I tried to e start the bike and the starter wouldn't turn over, then the speedo turned off completely and only the neutral light was lit. I assumed this was due to a dead battery as I had read on a thumper talk topic (linked below) where this video was taken from that his battery was a dud and had to be replaced. At the time I thought this could have possibly been due to an overheated stator and the battery was drained from my ride home and a parastic drain from the wiring. After testing my battery I found it was 13.3 V and was basically fully charged. This makes me think the stator is not fried as the battery would have drained from riding if the stator wasnt charging the battery. I plan to go through the wiring harness and test all the electrical connections, see if there are connections or ground wires that have vibrated loose. As this will take some time, in the mean time I figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas on what the culprit could possibly be or where I should start to look to fix the problem. Any response is much appreciated, Cheers Original topic where I obtained the video:
  10. hey guys i chucked a set of SM wheels onto my 04, 400e the other day and i noticed my speedo is out by about 10-15 KM. is there a way to fix this with the stock speedo drive or will i need one for a SM model? cheers!
  11. So my 2015 KTM 450 EXC is chewing through the odometer batteries waaaaaaaay too quickly - as in it will only be a couple of rides until I get the R03 code on the speedo. Not sure if there is a relay somewhere that shuts off the battery power to the odometer or if there is something more nefarious going on. Can any electrical experts chime in and let me know where / what I should be looking at?
