  1. My son has a 1998 ktm 50 adventure and the kick start spring broke. We have called everywhere and the part is discontinued and we cannot find anyone who would happen to have one laying around. Is there a different part that I could use to replace this?

    Spring weight 96 cr250

Can anyone help? I've got a '93 cr250 that i'm stripping down and sorting out with powder coated frame, new bearings and newer suspension off a '96. The '96 shock and fork need rebuilding which got me thinking would it be wise to fit new springs as the originals, being 20 years old, could have lost some of their original firmness, i'm interested to hear opinions on this. Also any suggestions on weight springs, oil and oil level to use. I'm about 12.5 stone (79.5kg) without gear on. Cheers, Rob

    YZ85 Clutch Spring Torque

Hey guys, I bought this YZ85 and came to realise the clutch wasnt working, so I drained the oil (Jet black) and pulled the plates out and cleaned them. I assumed finding a torque wrench would be easier than it has been. Does anyone know how to torque the clutch springs to spec without a wrench? Any insight helps.
  4. What's up all? I recently bought a 2009 yz450f and I have a few questions about sag and spring rate. The rear felt super stiff before I adjusted anything. After setting my race sag to 100mm and free sag to 25mm (which denotes a correct spring rate) my rear was super soft and washy. I jacked up the high and low speed compression, but it didn't help. Rebound is slightly slower than stock and feels good. I added pre-load and now i'm not sure what the race sag is because i have no one to help me measure it, but the free sag is set to 20mm and its somewhat better but honestly, I liked how the bike handled when it was super stiff. Should I get a stiffer spring? (maybe this one is worn out) Is it reasonable to ride with about 90 something mm of race sag and 20mm of free sag? Or maybe I just don't know how to ride. Any help is appreciated.
  5. Hey guys and gals, finally looking into getting my suspension set up for my weight, I've found the spring calculator and all that jazz, my question is when do I need to revalue it's stock at .46 in the forks and I'll be moving to a .50-.52 will this require a revalve? Would there be anything to revalve on the rear? I'm going to up the print rate back their also, thanks for the help!

mn riding opening for spring 2017

Looks like Arkansaw MX wins the early track award this year; https://www.facebook.com/arkansawmx/ Meadow Valley is holding off another week. https://www.facebook.com/Meadow-Valley-Motocross-634265140007012/
  7. Hi, I'm new here, I've been searching around here learning things for the last week and though I'd join. I got an 84 xr350 (dual carb) not running for $500 aud (380 usd). Apparently it'd been sitting for 4 years so I took off the carbie and gave it a clean since it was completely gummed up with old fuel I did notice that the primary carb wasn't returning fully and the spring was a little soft. I found that it didn't spark and cleaned up all of the connections with sand paper and got that working. Yesterday I managed to kick it over and get it started. It was a little rough at first, only just idling then over a minute it slowly revved up and was idling fairly high. When I touched the throttle it revved up a lot and stayed there I shut it off then because I had to go to work. Now today it started up after a few kicks and revved up again, I turned the idle screw so it'd idle lower and it worked a little. I then used my fingers to close the throttle manually on the carb. When I did that it settled right down, down enough for it to stall. I re-set the idle needle and made sure the throttle was closed and it started up and idled really nicely. I decided to actuate the throttle by hand directly on the carb and when I did it sounded like it was alright then I did it again and got some exhaust pops and sounded rather lean. I closed the throttle all the way but it was stuck idling high. That's as far as I got, I feel like I might have to replace the throttle return spring, but I might also have an air leak. It's really eager to rev up and is pretty unstable. This is my first bike so I'm not exactly a master but I kinda know a few things, mainly from RC cars and full size cars. Am I on the right track? Does anyone with more experience and the time to read this essay know what's up?
  8. Advice please! I'm upgrading the springs on my KTM exc as they are standard and I'm too heavy for them. Not sure if I should go for standard linear or progressive springs? I mainly ride enduro/single track/dirt/loose gravel etc. No jumps for me. A couple options I was considering were Race-Tech or Q-Springs. Any advice appreciated. Cheers

    KTM 85 powervalve disassembly

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to take the powervalve governor out of a KTM/Husqvarna 85. I’ve bought a new spring for it and I don’t know how to fit it, I’ve heard the spring is in the same spot as in the bigger KTM’s but after I take the cover off the bolt underneath (pictured) just keeps turning. Does anyone know? Thanks heaps.

    TTR110 softer rear shock

Looking for recommendations for an adjustable softer rate shock for my girls ‘15 TTR110. I’ve searched numerous web stores and forums not finding much info except doing major mods. She’s 8 and about 65 lbs. and has complained of her “front butt hurts” because the stock shock is too stiff.
  11. I put the add-on kickstarter on my 2017 EXC 350, and it doesn't return correctly. It has some binding near end of the return, and stops short of the solid stopping point. I lined up the mark with the spring hole like it's supposed to be, and the spring wound about 1/2 turn. It wouldn't really stay in its hole in the case very well, but I got it together that way. The instructions say to make sure the spring is centered on the shaft, and it didn't really stay put that way. Does anyone have any experience with this. Is the spring supposed to wrap around a full 1.5 turns? Thanks, Toby

    Merge Spring Installation

How do you do it? I have the old spring out and have hooked the Merge spring around the arm. Either I'm weak as a girl or that spring is too thick. Also as you tighten it, it binds on the post and then you can't fit the plastic lever into it. There has to be a trick, otherwise this is $20 wasted and I'll just re-wire it.
  14. So the other day I notice that the rear shock spring on our 1994 xr200r had cracked and separated about 2 coils from the top. No big I thought....just go on Ebay and pick something. Well, after a few days of looking I can't find ANYTHING used or aftermarket! The stock Honda spring #52401-KT0-691 is "no longer available". Can anybody lead me in the right direction to get a replacement spring for this bike?? Thanks in advance.

    Shock Spring Minimum

I saw this somewhere but can't remember where. So if I have the shock with "no load" on it. Is the minimum length from top of spring to bottom ( for safe use) 9.75 inches ? If I set the sag and its shorter than that, I'm guessing I need a heavier spring than stock. I'm at 10.25 inches now but I may have to tighten it up a hair. So I'm wanting to be sure. Thanks
  16. curiosity I have a honda cr 125 2004 dismantling and revising. On the part of the machine. Left case lifter, clutch this has a spring, looking list of parts I do not find the spring available for the year 2004. The spring comes from some previous models in its majority steel frame. you have the spring or without it. what do you think about
  17. I have a 2018 KTM 250 SX and I have found my way to this forum because my ktm dealer is the only one in a two hour radius and does not know a lick about their own bikes. Also all of my family and friends have never had KTM's or Husky's. I race motocross and am in the Intermediate/B Class, I weight 185 pounds. So I was hoping I had some KTM gear heads on here to help me answer some questions. Warning: I am about to ask a lot of information so if some threads are already created just please point me to the link. My main goal is kind of crazy in my mind... I need more longer wrap out time in 2nd gear but need 3rd gear to be snappy out of turns so I do not burn up my clutch. I ask this because a lot of the tracks I ride at in Missouri have pretty good size jumps right out of a sweeper or sharp turn. I dont like to hit them in 2nd right now because I get the Ronnie mac air boner affect in the air (because 2nd gear is very snappy and short). 1. Does anyone have any recommended adjustments for the RED power valve spring? (turns out/turns in?) Also what is the tool/socket I need to adjust, Robertson? What size? 2. Any recommended suspension settings other than the manual? 3. My manual says the bike has a Performance ignition map that can be plugged in? Is that correct or is that only for the EXC models? 4. What rear tire has everyone seemed to run on this bike, 120 or 110? 5. Hate the long silencer exhaust, Should I run the FMF Shorty or the ProCircuit Shorty? 6. What size rear sprocket seems to work best for motocross with this bike? 49? thanks for the much needed help!
