  1. I have the cylinder completely apart and the right side power valve is stuck...it won’t come out. The left slid right out. I don’t want to damage anything. I sprayed some PB Blaster on it but still stuck (maybe that’s not the best for carbon). Thoughts?
  2. I can't get my gas cap to come off! When trying to spin it off, it just kinda clicks like it isn't grasping or something. Not a fan of this new seemingly unnecessary gas cap design.
  3. Hi guys, Had an interesting experience on the way to work this morning. My morning commute consists of mostly highway. I was driving in 5th gear at ~75-80 (15/41 gearing) and I got a quick choke on the engine, as if I was outta gas. Nothing huge, just a slowdown for a second. Now I'm still on the highway and everything seems fine afterwards but about two minutes later, I'm starting to see a bit of traffic ahead. Naturally I let off the throttle a little, but the RPMs stay very high, despite the throttle closing. Downshift and now the RPMs are even higher (as if I was on the throttle). At this point I pulled in the clutch, let totally off the throttle. The clutch works fine as all power was taken off the drive, but those RPMs didn't go anywhere. I've had a stuck throttle cable before and this does not seem to be the problem (from a quick glance). The throttle returns to its closed position no problem, but the engine is still revving at quite high RPMs no matter what. Relatively new (<6mo old Motion Pro) throttle cable that was properly lubed. Luckily I was able to get to work just fine, but upon turning everything off and restarting, same problem. Throttle seems to be stuck open and I have no idea what direction to go in. When the bike is off and I pull the throttle then release, I'm pretty sure I can hear the click of it closing completely, so I'm dumbfounded on this one. Apologies in advance because I'm at work and only have absolute basic tools on me, and can't get to the carb right now (also time restricted). FWIW, I can rev the bike higher than where it is stuck, but it will not go below a certain point. Like I said, throttle cable seems to return just fine, but it is definitely stuck open (maybe just the port on the throttle or something? maybe one of the springs? maybe jetting needle is fooked?) Thanks in advance, looks like I'm out of action for at least the next couple days
  4. Does anyone know how I can get this cap off of my 2007 KX250F? It’s the bigger one that allows you to access the crank in order to put the engine at TDC and whatnot for setting the timing and stuff. I cannot for the life of me get it to break loose. I’ve tried drilling holes and using a punch and various tools to hammer it loose and it hasn’t worked at all. Not sure what to do at this point.
  5. Hey guys, first post so please bare with me. After a cheeky 3 month licence suspension, I'm back on the road. However after blowing the dust off the old girl and running her in the garage for a few minutes, the bike died followed immediately by a loud noise. After trying to start it back up, it would just click and could hear the starter motor trying it turn over. I ended up taking the stator cover off to find small metal fillings around the torque limiters gear plates (from the side walls of the housing). I've double checked all bushings and washers, all intact and not worn. Running the stater with the case off, it's obvious the torque limiter is somehow off balance as leans to the side and just gets caught against the sides of the casing. It's the same even with all bolts and washers installed and tightened. I'm completely baffled and not sure where to start looking for the cause. If anyone has had this problem or has some advice you'd be a life saver. Happy to post a video or picture of it if that will help.
  6. I cannot get the steering stem to come out of the frame. I’ve hit it with a dead blow with wood I lubed it still nothing. The top clamp gave me the same problem but was able to get it off.
  7. bought a bike and shifter is set low. Trying to remove it so I can replace. I got the bolt off but I cant pull the actual shufter off the pin. It moves freeley and nothing is broken. Bike is a 2012 crf450r. Any ideas how to remove it?
  8. Today I decided to clean the carburator of my crf250r 2005. It was my second time doing it. When I opened up the top of the carburator to remove the slide, I didn't remove the throttle shaft screw and I still slid the slide out, but the control arm is now stuck. This video explain what I should have done at about 1:00. The only difference is I didn't remove the throttle shaft screw and now the control arm is sutck up and I can't slide it back down with the slide. I was still able to remove the slide. Anyone knows how to fix this? I can't acces the throttle shaft screw anymore since the control arm is stuck up.
  9. Decided to try and put together a new ssr sr170tr today with zero experience. (Skip to the end if you want the issue in a nutshell) Everything went well until I attempted to put on the front tire and realize it wont fit into the front break caliper. I started to squeeze the front break lever to see if i could see the break pads open and close, and they looked already closed. Thats when youtube showed me theres plastic shoved into there, so in my attempt to pull out the plastic it had snapped between the break pads. I began to unscrew two screws that hold the break pads into place. Break pads fell out along with the plastic. I figured success. Then i screwed the break pads back into the caliper and put the tire back on which then i noticed the break pads are still closed. So i removed the tire again along with the break pads and began pumping the front break lever which showed the calipers will push out with every pump but dont go back in - forcing the breakpads to be closed... -so my question is did i break anything? Is there a way to reset/release the front break caliper so i can screw in the break pads and have room for my wheel? Confused why it only tightens with each pump and doesnt release. Thank you for your time
  10. I've poured a bunch of wd 40 and have been squeezing kroil down in the axle for the past week and then pounding on it with a sledge hammer. I've also tried heating it up with a torch and it still won't budge. People have been telling me to cut it out but i cant see that working cause its still gonna be stuck if i cut it off. Any suggestions?
  11. Ideas of how to get stuck piston out of cylinder? Engine is out of bike. 2000 yz250 2 stroke. Have put oil on top of piston it does leak down and out. Lightly tappend on top of piston with wood and hammer while pulling up on head. Got bolts off, rod looks good and moves well from lifting and putting down block. Can't get piston to budge. Shavings and nice metal on top of piston. Seems tight at one side and not as much on other. Scrapes on cylinder wall. It's about halfway in cylinder. Thanks
  12. Hey guys! first time poster here, and having some problems with my new to me 2006 DRZ400s. Upshifting works great, but when downshifting the shift lever does not always want to return to the neutral position, making it difficult to smoothly come to a stop. What I usually have to do is come to a stop in whatever gear I got stuck in and bump the shift lever until I can get it to go down to first. This doesn't always happen in higher gears but it happens almost every time trying to go from 2nd to 1st gear. An odd technique I found that helps is blipping the throttle up as I downshift, it seems the higher the revs, the more likely the lever is to reset. I have the most difficulty when coming to a stop with the throttle all the way rolled off. Another method that helps get from 2nd to 1st is letting out the clutch slightly, which will sometimes reset the lever. What could be the cause of this?? Any help to this motorcycle noob is greatly appreciated!

  14. Hello, I just got a quad and it rides great in first gear but when I tried to switch it in second gear, it won’t go in. I can wiggle it up and down but it cant actually go in gear. I took the cover off The gearbox and I found that it was still moving but not enough to switch the gear. Did anyone have the same issues or know what my problem is?
  15. Hey guys, ive been digging into my little TRX 200 SX and So far I have been pretty successful. I want to replace the Kingpin and bushings on both sides of the front, There is a bolt on top and a nut on bottom with a cotter pin. I have removed the cotter pin, soaked everything in liquid wrench and nothing is budging.. The bike almost comes off the jackstands 🙃 am I slow or weak or what? Do these grease nipples gotta come out or something? what am I missing here? Cheers
  16. Hello all, first post here. First time rider too. Just bought this 98 YZ400f. Not the proudest owner at the moment but we’ll see. Got it from a friend for $700 (way to much for a possibly blown bike now I realize) . Oh well. Issue is the Kickstart won’t cycle through. Even previous owner, an avid rider, who owned the bike when it was running, couldn’t kick it through. So I’m thinking it’s bad but how bad is the question . Seized piston, seized crankshaft, or Kickstarter axles and gears that whole mechanism broken?. Anybody have the proper steps in diagnosis and troubleshooting this . I saw an thread that said the kickstart comes off and you can try to rotate the crankshaft and if it moves it could be something else. Just starting to dive into this issue. Kinda want to fix this thing, might just buy a whole new engine, might try to save this one. Kinda going the cheapest /easy route if possible . Found a bottom end on eBay for 300. But I’d like to TS this engine first to see if it’s something simple . Would really appreciate the help guys!! Peace
  17. im trying to replace my clutch plates and my crank case cover will not come off its stuck above the oil filter the whole case is open expect above the oil filter. I've tried hammering around the case I hammered the metal studs around the case to slowly open it but the one stud broke don't want to break the case I need help I want to ride!!!

Ok so here's the thing, replaced top end and bike ran perfect then at the end of the day for some reason the kickstarter started getting stuck, it gets stuck on the compression stroke but if you put steady weight on the kicker it'll slowly start going down and then it'll kick fine until it gets back on the compression stroke again. Also if i take the spark plug out it'll kick perfectly fine. Any ideas i cant seem to figure it out. Thanks
  19. So my left side power valve on the CR125 won't slide back into the seat. Pretty sure my son was riding it too hard and had the RPMs why high (although we won't admit it). Now the left side power valve won't side back in. I checked for obstructions but nothing. Could he have warped it? I was looking with the naked eye but could not see anything. I'm sure it wouldn't take much as these things don't have too much room fitting in the seat. Before I looked for a new left side power valve anyone have any experience with this? Oh and the H.P.P. was cracked too!

So I was riding my dirt bike and everything was working fine but then I went to shift into third gear and I couldn't shift, i could shift it back into first gear but it was very hard, and when I shift into first gear, my shift lever gets stuck down, same with shifting up into second, it gets stuck in the up position. If you need a better explanation I can give it, I have the motor out right now, just don't know where to start looking
  21. So i know there are lots of discussions about stuck wheel bearings, but my problem might be a little worse. My hub is completely frozen onto the shaft, bearings and all. I've tried everything from pounding, heat, and a gear puller. but even better, my hub is also stuck onto my A-arm, neither of the spindles will seperate. I know everything is off that is supposed to be off, and the only thing i can remove is the A-arm from the quad. And lastly i cant just keep the old bearing in because my hub is damaged. I'm thinking the guy who owned it thought "i should JB weld them on so they don't fall off". Yes that's literally the only logical conclusion i can come to, its that stuck. if you have an idea, please help. Otherwise should i just bring it to a shop? if so what kind because i just rebuilt the top end and and dont want to spend tons of money. how much do you think this will cost? And i don't want to have to replace the A-arm because they are an expensive aftermarket pair. Also, the reason i have the theory about the previous owner; he has a record of forgetting things like washers on one head bolt, or sealing the head with silicone seal, or striping out the oil drain plug. Yea that guy is an idiot But anyways if you guys can give me some input, maybe you have had a similar problem or sum, at this point anything helps. Thank you (Its a 2008 polaris outlaw 450 with rath A-arms) not a ton of hours either

Hey there, I recently bought a 1979 Suzuki PE250 in pretty good condition for its age I'd say.However the fork seals are leaking and after struggling for a few days to get the fork caps open(they were seized) I have now come to a new problem. The Dust seal Holder seems to be stuck, in the shop manual it mentions some sort of special tool for removing the fork seal but I'm not sure what exactly it would do.The thing seems like it should just unscrew. I've tried whacking it with a screw driver and a hammer and I had some minor progress but its painfully slow so I was wondering if any of you vintage motorcycle wizards would be able to enlighten me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.👍

So I got my bike running well after adjusting the valve clearances and installing a new to me FCR39MX, however it has developed the problem of getting stuck in gear on the test rides since I got it running. At first it was stuck in 5th gear, I managed to clutch it up to speed and get her home, where after awhile my dad was able to get it out of gear, He took it for a little spin and it got stuck in 3rd gear, came out at some point and was stuck in 2nd gear. Anyways, wasn't much data about where to start with this from my searching. It appears that this could be caused by debris that fell into the bottom end during the valve clearance adjustment? Maybe a loose valve shim would be the right little bugger to gum up the transmission? Any recommendations for where to begin my hunt? Take off the side case? It's worth noting that the cam chain had been stuffed into the bottom of the motor, while the motor was turned, however we were able to free it up and get the clearances in order. Somewhere in that stupidity, something went wrong that is allowing the transmission to get locked up in gear.
  24. I have just put a new transmission in a 2005 kx85, and everything spins freely while the case bolts arent tightened, but as soon as i tighten the case bolts the transmission and crank suddenly become very stiff and hard to move, what could be causing this?
