  1. I can't get my 250 to run right. I'm an auto technician but I don't have much experience with the fuel injection ktm uses.It started acting weird after the last race. It only has 15 hours on the top and bottom ends and the valves are in spec. The bike was originally backfiring and running rough in low rpms and it wants to boil the gas in the tank. I have the tps set at .62, if I go any higher it gets worse. If I back it down to .56, the bike smooths out but I get poor throttle response with it shutting off if you twist the throttle too fast. I have cleaned the injector, changed the filter and checked fuel pressure and I even put a new tps on it. Still do doing the same thing, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Need help! Working on a friends bike can't figure out why the bike isn't getting spark and why the FI light is not blinking or anything. Bike ran fine when put away for the weekend and we go to start alls it does is turn over. Anyone know why or can help please?? Thank You!
  3. Hey guys so I am considering powder coating my swing arm black to try and match the frame on my 16' sxf 250. I don't know much about the process or durability of powder coat or if I should go with a different method? what have you guys done and around how much should it cost? Thanks!
  4. Hi guys ive got a big problem. ive had a 07 ktm 250 xcf for a while and it has worked great for me. Ive always kept up with maintenance and keeping it in good shape. But my problem is, someone recently bought it from me and he is saying it is losing a lot of oil through some big black overflow tube. I have no idea what overflow tube this could be. I changed the oil pretty recently before I sold it, I didn't follow the proper procedure of running the bike for 5 minutes then changing the oil. But I forgot and changed the oil while it was still cold. Does anyone have any ideas?
  5. Alright guys I’m looking for some input. I’m deciding between a 2016 fc250f and 2016 sxf250. I’m coming off a 16 yz250f, does anybody have any experience or info to help me make a decision? I️ am a MX racer between novice and intermediate. Any info would be great thanks!
  6. Hi I am tired of having to warm up the battery and grinding the battery before the bike starts. (and when really cold outside I have to bump start it down a big hill) What battery could I buy instead of the tired OEM battery? Do anyone now what CCA the stock battery got? I read it was about 70cca on the older ktms but hasnt seen anything about the 2017 bike. Also saw someone mention the WPS FEATHERWEIGHT LITHIUM BATTERY 130 CCA as a better option than OEM. Is the WPS a good choice and does it fit in the stock battery boot? Is 130CCA enough to start the bike when it is about freezing point outside?
  7. I’ve been searching for the last week or so for a nice used bike and have found a very nice 07 250 sxf. My problem is that I have not found any kind of aftermarket stator to allow for lights, fan, or other electrical accessories I might add to make the bike more trail worthy. Ive googled, searched this forum, and checked several online vendors to no avail. Any info you guys have would be appreciated. Zach
  8. I have had my 2008 sxf 250 for about 6 months now and have only had about a month to ride it before I had a serious accident and then it snowed. I 've realized that this bike had no low end torque and hoped there is a easy way to fix this, I 've heard a bunch of ways to fix it and wanted to know if any of you know what the best method is, changing the cams , putting an R&D carburetor bowl with the adjustable accelerator pump on it, FMF exhaust system, jetting it differently? I also have a very bad bog when the bike warms up to operating temperature, I 'm thinking its getting too much fuel, the accelerator pump was played with from the guy before me. Let me know what you guys think. Thankyou

  10. Rebuilt my 2016 sxf450 for some rounded dogs and a bent selector fork on 5th. While apart added 6th speed to the box. transmission all works perfect but have managed to build in an engine fault. Fault: Revs build slowly, almost choked past 1/2 revs but progressively as if restricted. engine is down on power but otherwise behaves normal, start idle and low rpm no real complaints. Immediately on release of throttle engine cuts to idle - quicker than any bike I've ever worked on, but then idles fine. No strange noises, knocking, ratling or grinding... definitely some resistance in there directly related to rpm So far I've: Checked and rechecked the valve clearance. Cleaned the injector Replaced inline fuel filter No air leaks in intake Swapped to another bikes fuel tank (+pump) Advanced and retarded the timing 1 tooth either way(3 positions checked) flipped the crank 180 degrees to the cam timing. Swapped out the barrel and piston - no change Had the ecu in another bike I inspected all the components and measured IAW manual during rebuild - only 50 hrs since main bearings, conrod where replaced. Engine doesn't drag on clutch, clutch disengages and bike freewheels correct in gear. Plug out engine turns by hand as expected... Still need to measure oil pressure, if the gallery was blocked could cause excess drag at higher rpm but don't have the tool. Any ideas of what I've F'd up?!

Just into top end rebuild on 2006 250 sx-f because of too much oil consumption so i removed valves,cleaned them(it had a lot of carbon deposites under exhaust valves and seats.So put it together and poured gas in ports to test for leakage and yes exhaust ones leaks a lot(seats look very clean as well as valves)What should i do ?

My friend recently got his chain adjuster bolt that threads into the swingarm stuck because the previous owner put loctite or something on it and the bolt broke and is almost but not completely flush with the swingarm. he tried drilling it out and it didn't work, tried an easy out and the easy broke and is stuck inside the bolt now. Any tips to avoid buying a whole new swingarm?

  17. i was just wondering what are all the differences between the KTM 250sxf and 250xcf? Im new to ktm so i dont know too much about them but i heard the gearing is different. i ride track and trail and could use some input on these bikes thanks.
  18. I have a 2008 ktm 250sxf and I'm having a lot of problems with it. I missed yesterday's race because it wouldn't run right. It's idling really rough. Every few kicks it will back fire really loud when I get it to run it will idle rough and when I give it gas it will bog then when I release the gas it will rev high and is hard to come down. I will give it the smallest bit of throttle and it will stick at a really high idle and I have to rev it hard and quick a few times for it to come back down. When I put it in gear and try to ride it slowly it just tries to take off and it doesn't even feel like a high idle. I have to ride the front and rear breaks for it to not take off. I can let off the throttle and put it up to 6th gear and it still keeps going. I just had the entire top end replaced. Cylinder piston rings etc. I cleaned the carb several times cleaned all of the jets and still nothing. Replaced the throttle cable even disconnected it and still nothing. If I disconnect the throttle positioning sensor it runs a little better but is still pretty rough. I used a multimeter to test the tps and it seems fine other than when it's at "idle" it's at 1.14 on 20k I give it a little gas and it sticks at 1.17 until I rev it hard a few times. No idea what it could be. Needle and seat seem fine I'm stumped on it. Please help!
  19. Hi I got a KTM 450 SXF 2017 and ride mostly motocross but I am thinking about swiching to enduro since we doesnt got any good mx tracks in my area. Tired of traveling hours to ride a nice track. I want to be able to ride both enduro and motocross so I dont want to sell the bike for a exc at the moment. The main problem with the sxf is that it stalls easy in the woods. So I googled a bit and found that swiching flywheel or adding a weight to the flywheel will do the trick. I doesnt find any flywheels but I found these 5 ounce weights from steahlyoffroad.com. Will 5 ounce be enough? Anyone know how much the sxf flywheel and the exc flywheel weighs? I saw there is a "Dungey edition" for the 13-15 bike and it has options of 8, 12 or 15 ounces. And what about the clutch, I read someone swiching out some alu plates to steel plates.. anyone tried this?
  20. Have a 2012 ktm 250 sxf that only starts with the choke out,hot or cold, just cranks cranks cranks then after like 30 seconds it might fire then run great. I have changed the spark plug, checked the valves and they were in spec, changed the fuel filter to a 2013 one, battery seems decent. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  22. Hi, Hoping someone can help me in diagnosing the issue I'm having with my 2016 KTM 350 sx-f. Im currently on my 7th battery in just over a year, something is constantly draining them to the point its unable to be recharged. I have recently upgraded the battery tray and battery to the new 2018 bigger one and after 1 night the battery was dead. I have replaced the fuel pump relay as i thought this may have been the cause but does not seem to have solved the issue. When checking voltage and stuff the only thing i can think of is that it looks like the power is never shutting off as everything is live even 5 minutes after engine being turned off. This is with a new relay just fitted. Should there always be power? I assume not as this must be why the batterys drain overnight. Can anyone please advise on any ideas or anything I could check? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

  24. I’m in a pickle between these two bikes, they have them priced for the same, and they are both fuel injected. The rmz is spotless and kept in this girls house. The ktm is also very clean but not as much as the Suzuki. The rmz has an fed exhaust on it. I don’t know which bike I should get, they both have rekluse clutches, and I Do trail riding, ramping, and road riding so I like to be able to go fast. Which one should I get? Pictures are below.
