  1. My rm125 leaks gas when sitting there on the stand with gas off. I've tried cleaning carb to make sure no dirt or anything! Please help! Also my kickstarter is tight when pulling out?
  2. So i was about to get a crf250r until i went to the ktm dealership and checked out a 2017 ktm 250sxf. i just wanted to know what thoughts people had on these bikes. I have always ridden honda but would like to know more about the ktm. reliability, handling, resale, and any known problems .
  3. Hi all, Im a little bit smaller of a rider about 5`2 or 5`3 110 pounds. I feel ive outgrown my crf150rb and am looking to go to a a 250 next spring. Whats the slimmest/smallest 250f out there. Ive almost entirely ruled out a Yamaha because i went to a dealer to look at them and they feel and look so much bigger than all the other 250s. Kawasaki seems like its a smaller slimmer skinnier bike but the Suzuki doesn't look bad either. Ktms seem huge to me and really haven't looked at hondas yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hey guys Iv been looking online but can't seem too find a specific post about this hole, i only just changed the oil and oil filter on it not even 10 mins ago on the engine, I went for a ride around the block and too my suprise seen oil weeped/leaked out of this hole, it's a 2011 250sxf it looks like a drain point if the engine is overfilled? I did also have the bike on its right side for a while too get the oil filter out, does anyone know what this might be as I'm not too sure, I didn't have oil come out from here before (it's next too the where the injector meets the engine) cheers
  5. I'm working on a friends 2007 ktm sxf250 and the bike runs like crap, I completely disassemble the carb and set it in a cleaner over night. I took it out the next morning and cleaned all the jets and passages with pressurized air. I put everything back together and it still won't start. The only way to get the bike to start is by turning the idle all the way up and turning it back down, now that the bike is started and the idle stew is turned down, you got to constantly give gas to keep the think going. I took it out on a ride and the bike ran fine until you pull the clutch in, at this point the bike stalls without any hesitation. To start the bike I need to repeat the whole prosedure to get it started. I have another buddy with an 08' and his bike is extremely cold blooded and takes forever to warm up. I'm not sure if there's an issue with the carb or the bike just needs its sweat time to warm up. PLEASE HELP!
  6. 2008 ktm 450sxf I recently ruined my head, valves, piston, clyinder, the whole shabang. So the best option at this point is an engine swap. My ? Is, what other ktm engines will bolt up on my frame? The original engine is very expensive and not all that available. I dont race so it doesn't necessarily have to be a 450. I am open to all avenues and thanks in advance.

  10. I have a 2008 ktm 250sxf and I'm having a lot of problems with it. I missed yesterday's race because it wouldn't run right. It's idling really rough. Every few kicks it will back fire really loud when I get it to run it will idle rough and when I give it gas it will bog then when I release the gas it will rev high and is hard to come down. I will give it the smallest bit of throttle and it will stick at a really high idle and I have to rev it hard and quick a few times for it to come back down. When I put it in gear and try to ride it slowly it just tries to take off and it doesn't even feel like a high idle. I have to ride the front and rear breaks for it to not take off. I can let off the throttle and put it up to 6th gear and it still keeps going. I just had the entire top end replaced. Cylinder piston rings etc. I cleaned the carb several times cleaned all of the jets and still nothing. Replaced the throttle cable even disconnected it and still nothing. If I disconnect the throttle positioning sensor it runs a little better but is still pretty rough. I used a multimeter to test the tps and it seems fine other than when it's at "idle" it's at 1.14 on 20k I give it a little gas and it sticks at 1.17 until I rev it hard a few times. No idea what it could be. Needle and seat seem fine I'm stumped on it. Please help!
  11. Hi I got a KTM 450 SXF 2017 and ride mostly motocross but I am thinking about swiching to enduro since we doesnt got any good mx tracks in my area. Tired of traveling hours to ride a nice track. I want to be able to ride both enduro and motocross so I dont want to sell the bike for a exc at the moment. The main problem with the sxf is that it stalls easy in the woods. So I googled a bit and found that swiching flywheel or adding a weight to the flywheel will do the trick. I doesnt find any flywheels but I found these 5 ounce weights from steahlyoffroad.com. Will 5 ounce be enough? Anyone know how much the sxf flywheel and the exc flywheel weighs? I saw there is a "Dungey edition" for the 13-15 bike and it has options of 8, 12 or 15 ounces. And what about the clutch, I read someone swiching out some alu plates to steel plates.. anyone tried this?
  12. i was just wondering what are all the differences between the KTM 250sxf and 250xcf? Im new to ktm so i dont know too much about them but i heard the gearing is different. i ride track and trail and could use some input on these bikes thanks.
  13. I'm new to KTM but glad to be here. Just bought a used 2011 SXF 450. It sounds different than other bikes I've had int he past. I just want to make sure there isn't anything out of the ordinary... peace of mind, really. The sound I'm hearing is more significant on the right side of the bike. There is no knocking or ticking from what I can tell, just a noisier engine then I'm used to. I hear KTM's have a thinner engine case, so maybe that's why. I also hear the timing chain tensioner tends to be an issue with these bikes. Please take a listen to the video and let me know what you think. Thanks!

    Hi guys I have. A 2012 ktm 350 sxf and I'm going to buy a new fuel injector for it and I was wondering if the 2013 ktm 350 sxf fuel injector will fit in the 2012?
  16. Have a 2012 ktm 250 sxf that only starts with the choke out,hot or cold, just cranks cranks cranks then after like 30 seconds it might fire then run great. I have changed the spark plug, checked the valves and they were in spec, changed the fuel filter to a 2013 one, battery seems decent. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  17. (Hey guys, I just joined Thumpertalk-I usually find answers on here but never actually joined until now. (If this is in the wrong place feel free to move the thread)) So after getting back into motocross after about 10 years, I bought a 2016 KTM 250sxf. I did the first oil change tonight and I didn't have anything to measure out the oil. I was using the sight glass on the side. So with the triangle stand, the oil level was half-way full in the glass, and completely full when I put it on the box stand. I added the new oil so that it read the same. (Half full/triangle stand; Full/boxstand). Now I'm reading on here, and it seems that people have different ideas on where it should read on the glass sight. 1. Should it be this full? 2. It's midnight in my apt complex so I haven't started it yet-will the readings be different/more accurate warmed up? 3. Free thoughts on topic/risks of too much oil ? Fisher saddle bags seat looks really comfy . Just wondering if anyone has gotten and has used a different seat .
  19. Hi, Hoping someone can help me in diagnosing the issue I'm having with my 2016 KTM 350 sx-f. Im currently on my 7th battery in just over a year, something is constantly draining them to the point its unable to be recharged. I have recently upgraded the battery tray and battery to the new 2018 bigger one and after 1 night the battery was dead. I have replaced the fuel pump relay as i thought this may have been the cause but does not seem to have solved the issue. When checking voltage and stuff the only thing i can think of is that it looks like the power is never shutting off as everything is live even 5 minutes after engine being turned off. This is with a new relay just fitted. Should there always be power? I assume not as this must be why the batterys drain overnight. Can anyone please advise on any ideas or anything I could check? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

  21. I have had my 2008 sxf 250 for about 6 months now and have only had about a month to ride it before I had a serious accident and then it snowed. I 've realized that this bike had no low end torque and hoped there is a easy way to fix this, I 've heard a bunch of ways to fix it and wanted to know if any of you know what the best method is, changing the cams , putting an R&D carburetor bowl with the adjustable accelerator pump on it, FMF exhaust system, jetting it differently? I also have a very bad bog when the bike warms up to operating temperature, I 'm thinking its getting too much fuel, the accelerator pump was played with from the guy before me. Let me know what you guys think. Thankyou
  22. Hi guys ive got a big problem. ive had a 07 ktm 250 xcf for a while and it has worked great for me. Ive always kept up with maintenance and keeping it in good shape. But my problem is, someone recently bought it from me and he is saying it is losing a lot of oil through some big black overflow tube. I have no idea what overflow tube this could be. I changed the oil pretty recently before I sold it, I didn't follow the proper procedure of running the bike for 5 minutes then changing the oil. But I forgot and changed the oil while it was still cold. Does anyone have any ideas?

  25. I can't get my 250 to run right. I'm an auto technician but I don't have much experience with the fuel injection ktm uses.It started acting weird after the last race. It only has 15 hours on the top and bottom ends and the valves are in spec. The bike was originally backfiring and running rough in low rpms and it wants to boil the gas in the tank. I have the tps set at .62, if I go any higher it gets worse. If I back it down to .56, the bike smooths out but I get poor throttle response with it shutting off if you twist the throttle too fast. I have cleaned the injector, changed the filter and checked fuel pressure and I even put a new tps on it. Still do doing the same thing, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
