  1. I need to replace the plug on the wiring harness that connects to the tank of a YZ450F. I've got the tools to crimp terminals, so installing a spare connector would be easy. However, I can't find it as a separate part, and don't want to buy an entire harness. Any suggestions for finding this part? KTM publishes a list of spare connectors for their bikes, but I could not find anything like this for the Yamaha. Thanks in advance!
  2. As I get my 2017 300xcw jetting sorted out I got my first estimate on fuel mileage. At a B pace in the woods I'm getting roughly 30 to 35 mpg. With the stock 2.5gal tank that should be good for about 75 miles. This is somewhat limiting in range. I am considering a IMS 3.2 gal (~95+ mile range) and Acerbis 3.0 gal (~90+ mile range) Who has put one of these tanks on their 2017 or 2018 smoker? How was fit and ergonomics?
  3. After a front end event - i have a leaky tank, seeps from the rear left hand skirt under the seat. I have used various tank products but still getting seepage, Not really ready to fork out the £1200 odd they want for a new tank - not willing to give up my LC4 adventure just yet - so seeking a solution - someone with a second hand tank - one of the aftermarket tanks (no worry about color) ideas about getting it welded or recommendations about tank repair in the UK.
  4. I’m struggling to grip with my knees on my dirtbike. Either my jeans or my knee pads are what touches the bike, and they just slip, making it difficult to accelerate and hill climb without getting thrown around. I’ve been thinking of getting rubber grip tape, and this has good reviews. What do you guys think?   5. Hi. I am looking for a replacement fuel tank for my son's XR100R Honda bike. Its a 1997 and the tank has been discontinued. I am looking for a used one or one sitting on a shelf somewhere. Any ideas where to look. I am in Canada but can ship from anywhere if necessary. Thanks
  6. Be easy on me guys, a week into owning a 2002 DRZ400S with not a huge amount of experience I just bought the clap trap of a 2002 DRZ and wanting to make some repairs and mods. It has the large after market large plastic tank, which I’m looking to replace with the OEM and replace plastics for looks.... I have the oem tank but it doesn’t have a petcoc So noticed the current plastic tank is leaking at the petcock. I just joined TT yesterday and after a quick search realized this is a common issue and went down the rabbit hole of Yamaha replacement or rebuild the OEM. I went took pictures today and I found this: it seems the old tank has a petcock without the vacuum hose. The guy that sold It to me reminded me alway turn the fuel off when I stop so that reinforces the current petcock is not OEM, so for costs, its cheaper to buy the Yamaha replacement for the oem tank as doesn’t seem to use the vacuum hose, rather than rebuild the OEM because it’s not there... So my question is: if I want to Reinstall the OEM tank what do I need in a new petcock? Will the Yamaha one work, as it seems it’s set up with out the vacuum tube? Do I need a riser piece for the OEM tank and Yamaha petcock? Besides fuel lines and clamps, (and $100 for a new oem one which I’m not doing) what do I need in a new petcock to reinstall the oem tank?   7. I have a 2005 CRF450R with a Trail Tech fan kit installed. I need a little bit larger tank and would like to know if anyone has an aftermarket tank that fits with the fan kit. I dont need a monster 4 gallon, just maybe a 2.4 or 2.7 from IMS would do fine. I talked with both the tank vendor and Trail Tech and neither could give me any answers. Thanks guys. Jake Minden, NV
  8. Hey all Thinking about picking up a new IMS tank, but have a few questions first. I have some aftermarket rad guards, could be unibiker but doesn't have the logo on it. Will the tank still fit with the guards? Since the tank is plastic compared to the metal stocker, does that mean you save weight when swapping? I do SM races so if I fill it halfway, does that mean the bike is lighter than before? If I have a gravity fed petcock now, will that still work on the IMS? How is the quality of IMS?
  9. Does anyone know if the twin headlights or the metal baja tanks from the Japanese street legal models like the MD22 and MD30 (XLR250’s, I think) will fit on an American model XR400R? If not, are there any known ways of fitting them. Both the lights and tanks are available from Japanese auctions and i think they’d look nice on a my 400R 👍
  10. After so many rides trying to empty it, I finally got it to reserve at 102 miles on the IMS 3.6. Probably add another 25 or more with what’s left. ‘17 te250
  11. prob a stupid topic but I'm interested to know more about it. I 100% always use Shell stations...no reason in particular. ...lately, when filling up, the pump won't automatically stop. I will end up over flowing. This has never happened to me up until recently, I usually always use the auto stop. Today it happened I had to tip the bike over to spill some gas out, I did use the reserve and it was getting pretty low. Not sure if my bike tells the pump to stop or if its the pump thats broken.

  14. Hey guys, can anyone tell me why my 2000 yz125’s tank and FMF gold series exhaust pipe are touching? I’m worried about burning a hole through the tank. Could it be the wrong size pipe? Is there a simple solution/fix?

  16. Hello everyone, I am trying to find a cheap replacement for the stock DRZ400sm gas cap. Zeta has one but it requires the inners from the original. I bought another gas tank to use for the woods but it didnt come with a gas cap. Looking for something inexpensive that i wont have to use the inners from my other cap for. I just cant bring myself to spend the 100+ on one off of ebay. I dont care if it locks or not either? Any ideas????
  17. What is the best option for a quality oversized tanks that fits with the least amount of mods for a 2013 SM with FCR39 that already has the high clearance choke. I plan to do the aftermarket petcock at the same time, any issues with fitment of the petcock and oversized tank? Thanks for the help.
  18. I just picked up a 2012 Beta 400 RR Enduro and I know they have a fairly short range. I tend to ride to the trail so I'd like to have the peace of mind that I'll make it back. I've looked around for larger tanks from makers such as Acerbi and IMS but can only find aux tanks for the bar and rear. Is there another tank out there that works on the newer Beta 400s?
  19. I just picked up a 2016 TE 125 and although the 2.9 gal tank is big, it is not big enough. I have found a lot of 3.1 gal tanks but was hoping someone has found something a little bit bigger. Brand names have never been a big deal to me so any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
  20. Hi, I have a 1996 XR100 which has a gas tank that I have had problems with ever since I got it. The petcock leaked really bad when I got it so I tried to take it off and the metal things used to hold the petcock bolts in the tank stripped. I have used jb weld, 100% silicone and some craft glue and nothing has worked.   21. Acerbis 3.1 gallon tank for $210 vs IMS 3.0 gallon tank for $290. Any reason to go with one over another? Is the IMS tank worth the extra $ for a little less capacity? Anyone have any photos of either tank installed on your ride?
  22. I love DIY's. Couldn't find one on how to fix the radiator shroud fixing points in the fuel tank so I thought I'd make one. My bike is a 1999 KX250. Materials: - Insert screws - M6 screw and possibly a couple of nuts and washers - Drill - Alcohol cleaner - JB Weld Plastic Bonder - Grease This is the fuel tank. Bought it recently a repair that didn't hold up: Previous repair done with a impact nut, didn't do the job: The answer is insert nuts for wood. Can be bought at hardware stores and on eBay. You also need a M6 screw the same length as the insert. Mine were a little bit to long, fixed it with a couple of washers: 1. Start by drilling out the holes to fit the insert. In my case, that's 9.5mm: 2. Clean out the holes and the inserts with alcohol or similar: 3. Add some grease to the M6 screws and washers, you don't want the glue to stick to them: 4. Mount them together, be careful not to get grease on the outside of the inserts: 4. Use a good epoxy. Fat plastics are not easy to glue, JB Weld Plastic Bonder is the only one I could find that is recommended for fuel tanks. Also available in black. 5. Mix the glue according to instructions and fill half the hole, try to get rid of air pockets. I'd recommend you to do one hole at a time. 6. Screw in the inserts and remove excess glue. Then remove the M6. If you are worried the insert will follow the screw out you could do it like this. Keeping the screw still while releasing the nut will make them easier to remove. Mine came out without any problems: Looks a bit beaten up from the last repair but I'm certain it will hold up! And don't redo the mistake of over torquing the bots 🙂
  23. Hoping someone can do me a quick favor. I have the Acerbis tank ready to go on but I know I'm going to have to cut my Flatlands rad guard to accommodate. If you have already had to do this can you measure your cut for me and post a quick pic of yours? Much obliged.
  24. Hey there. My 2007 CRF450X has had issues my last two races of stalling out when it gets to roughly 50-60% full tank. Both times, same amount of gas burned, it stalls out. I can start it back up briefly after opening up the cap and tilting the bike sideways to fill the carb. I’m thinking it’s either an issue with the tank not breathing properly, or the screen is clogged on the petcock. Any ideas? The first race was a Hare Scramble in 40° weather, stalled it on my 3rd lap, about 22-24 miles, and an hour or so in. Second time was an Enduro, but I hadn’t had a chance to stop because I sucked in test 1, falling several times, but it started stalling out on an xfer section about 26 miles or roughly 2 hours into the thing.
