  1. Hey. I just got a 94rmx with a complete rm makeover, but I don't have the tools to fix it yet so I've not ridden yet. I was wondering if anyone has tips about riding. And if anyone has some spare tool they could give a beginner. I'm pretty poor so could be some time till I get them myself. The pics my beaut
  2. So I stripped one of the screws on my reservoir cap for my front brakes. Anyone have any techniques for taking stripped screws out? I'm planning on replacing the whole reservoir cap with an aftermarket one, but I still need to get of the one I have on now. Thanks The aftermarket cap if anyone was curious: http://www.motosport.com/ride-engineering-front-brake-reservoir-cap?mmy=yamaha;yz450f;2017
  3. I guess this is kind of a novice question but may as well ask. Does anyone have any little known tips/ secrets you used to get faster offroad/ enduro races. I find that I mainly struggle with confidence in the wide open type stuff (40-45 mph) and cornering. All help is appreciated? thanks.
  4. I'm changing out my sprockets/chain, so thought I'd change out the chain slider on the swingarm while I was at it. I was able to remove the old one, but am having trouble putting the new one in. There are 2 little rubber "nipples" that have to pop into holes on the swingarm. My fingers aren't strong enough apparently to push these in. I tried putting a dab of dish soap on them first, but still no go... Any suggestions or tips on how to install the stock chain slider on the swingarm?
  5. I have been riding for about a year and a half to two years and want to take my riding to the next level. I raced my first enduro a little while back, loved it, and plan to race (hopefully) my next this coming weekend. I feel like I am getting better quick, but I could be getting a little more out of my riding. I feel like I struggle with my riding stance, as it can look pretty awkward sometimes?. Is there anything I can do to improve/tweak it? I am 6'2 and haven't done any changes to bar height/foot peg height. Thanks for any help I get. If you guys have pictures of yourselves that would really help too! P.S. Sorry the photo is really grainy because it was taken on a phone and then blown up.
  6. *pic is my goal if I can or at least as close* Hi there, I'm currently looking at buying a second hand KTM EXC 450 and converting to supermoto. I have converted a DRZ400E but everyone knows they are piss easy. I have read a bit about exc sumo rim sizes and have found a few people struggle with chain rubbing on rear with 4.25x17. Just wanting any tips or advice from someone who has done it before and what works best. Also any other tips or advice for converting to sumo (etc. exhausts, steering dampers, handbrake setup, frame sliders/protection, hand guards, any thing else that is a must for this model). I live in New Zealand and don't mind spending a bit on parts but would like to buy the rims here as it would be faster/a lot cheaper. Any advice is appreciated, cheers.
  7. I'm not sure if this is asked a lot, but I haven't found much on this. How do I learn to crash/dismount the proper way?! I have been riding for three years now, and I've picked it up quite quick (Not to brag, just from what other riders tell me). That being said, I think I could and want to be learning faster. I ride mainly enduro (technical/trails) and desert (so no mx atm), and while I ride often, I don't crash often. I believe that is a good think for the faster stuff (i don't want to roach my body at an early age), but I think it is holding me back from progressing in the technical aspect. I see videos of people trying (and failing) at some crazy stuff, and they usually seem to be able to jump off the bike w/o tearing their knees or spraining their ankles. Is there a way to "practice" this? I feel that once I figure this out I could progress my technical riding immensely because I will be able to push myself and try new things. Thanks for any help you can give! P.S. Haha is there a way to properly crash at speed? That would be helpful too. Cheers!
  8. Okay... So... I have ridden now for probably four or five years, yesterday on my 16th birthday I got spoiled rotten from my family and I was gifted A 2017 CRF450R. I was just wondering what the differences are like from a 2 stroke... The biggest bike I have owned before was a 125cc two stroke. I have ridden a 450 and a 250f and decided I liked it. That's how i ended up with it.. So I only really know stuff from 2 strokes, like changing gears.. What kind of noise am i looking for? Any tips when hitting jumps? Corners? Please just any and all information is helpful Thank you.
  9. I want to start racing hare scrambles next year but I need some start knowledge before I do so. I will either be on a YFZ 450r or a TRX 450r. I get that hare scrambles start from a dead engine but how do I actually start the quad and get going like what gear should I start the quad in and that kind of stuff if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Also how do you use the clutch in the corners for a better drive in the corners?
  10. So I just recently bought a 2005 Yamaha Yz85 and I am new to two strokes completely. I was riding it around my yard and kind of getting used to the power band. I've heard this about the two strokes that the power is all or nothing. I learned this while riding, but I struggled in the turning around and things going around trees and stuff like that. Once you hit the power band and you let off the throttle, you can't get back on the throttle without extreme bogging. How should I corner so that I can maintain some speed. Keep in mind that I'm not riding on a track, I'm just trying to learn how to make turns and not bog out and loose all of my power. Any advice appreciated.

  12. I have a 98 cr 250 I’m looking for some insight to adjust my suspension for my weight I’m 170, 5’7” I’m a pretty modest rider single track, woods, trails. Mine is a brute to ride. Feels way to stiff for my weight and I don’t know where stock settings.
  13. I have been given the opportunity to ride a new Yz450f on a daily basis. I will mostly ride on street but I will also ride on fields and other minor rough terrain, but not on mx tracks for now. I've rode a yz85 (2 stroke) and some four wheelers over about 5 years. I'm looking for tips on riding the 450 as it is a more powerful bike than I usually ride. Thanks for any tips you've got.
  14. How to I gain confidence to stand up wheelie? I can get to balance point sitting down, hold it for a bit, and can bring it down with the back brake when I go to far (still learning to tap it gently though). But when it comes to stand up wheelies, I have some trouble. I feel like the farther that it comes up, the more it pulls my body back, hence making me pull the throttle more, etc. How do I bring them up without feeling like I am going to whiskey throttle? Thanks for the help.
  15. Hi, I am 13 years old and I am trying to decide what bike I want to get (two stroke of course). I'm 5'2 - 5'3 tall, and I weigh 125lbs. I'm a beginner at this, meaning this is my first bike but, I have ridden a dirt bike a few times. My choices are the yz85, cr85, kx85, kx100, sx85, and the sx105 (Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, or Ktm). I am not interested in the rm because I just don't like it. It seems like a cheap crappy (sorry if I offended you) and it doesn't seem to have the speed and power that I want ( at least that's how people describe it to be). So please don't include it in. I am going to buy a used bike on Craigslist or somewhere because this is my first year and I'm not the richest of families (in case that helps.) Right now, I'm confused about which bike to get because they're all good brands. I want to be fast on the track (obviously) and I want to be aggressive. Which bike will fit that role? Can some also explain what top end and bottom end power is and what it helps with when you are listing a bike? Can you include the pro and con of it? I'm also not sure if an 85 is the right size for me, as I want to grow into a bike and have it last me. Maybe I should get a 125, if is so, which one (again, no Suzuki rm)? I'm going to a dealership to sit on some and try some (not too sure about trying some) Saturday but I just want thoughts about this. I don't know ANYONE with a dirt bike so the internet is my only friend here so I am really counting on you. My mom doesn't know anything about dirt bikes or the sport so I have to really look at this stuff myself. If you have any tips, please leave some as they will be helpful for me or any other onlookers in the same situation as I am in.
