  1. I have a 1989 RM250 that I just finished rebuilding and I have some questions about the gearing and torque. First off, I am 6'2 and 225lbs if that makes a difference. Right now it has a very good top speed and decent acceleration with the 50/13 or 3.84/1 gearing ratio it has right now. As a track bike it feels OK but because I do a lot of trail and enduro riding and need to be able to pick up the front end a bit easier to get it over logs and such. I prefer to stay away from clutch wheelies if I can so even if I crack the throttle in 1st the front wheel only likes to raise a few inches off the ground and I cant sustain a wheelie like I can on my 83 KDX175. I was planning to re-gear the bike with a 54 tooth on the back. I am hoping this can be changed with the gearing ratios and its not a power valve or carb problem. I am hoping that this would up the torque a bit but I am new to re-gearing and I don't know If it would be a big enough difference on the trail. If anyone knows anything about the topic I would appreciate any information.
  2. I have had my 2008 sxf 250 for about 6 months now and have only had about a month to ride it before I had a serious accident and then it snowed. I 've realized that this bike had no low end torque and hoped there is a easy way to fix this, I 've heard a bunch of ways to fix it and wanted to know if any of you know what the best method is, changing the cams , putting an R&D carburetor bowl with the adjustable accelerator pump on it, FMF exhaust system, jetting it differently? I also have a very bad bog when the bike warms up to operating temperature, I 'm thinking its getting too much fuel, the accelerator pump was played with from the guy before me. Let me know what you guys think. Thankyou
  3. How's it going new to website, changing the clutch on an 06 ttr125 wondering if anybody has clutch spring torque rating? I heard 6nm but just want to confirm
  4. My wheel has some pretty serious lateral movement. I dont have a truing stand but my buddy could lend me a spoke torque wrench. Would I be able to eliminate the lateral movement only using the the torque wrench ? regards
  5. So my negligence has left me with several hooked teeth on the balancer drive sprocket (directly behind the flywheel on crankshaft). I need some help on replacing it. 1.) The manual states that i need special tool 09917-23711 (ring nut socket wrench) in order to remove the old one and torque down the replacement. I've seen the Suzuki branded tool for $114 - 180. There's also an undbranded one on ebay for $60. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Cranksh ... 2630!US!-1 If I can help I'd rather not have to purchase a tool I'm only going to use once. Does anyone have one they can lend me if I put a deposit on it? 2.) The manual also states that I need a Conrod Holder #09910-20116, I'm guessing that would stop the crank from spinning during removal and reinstallation. Is there any way I could get around this as well? I've seen a youtube video of someone locking up the piston by feeding a shoestring through the sparkplug hole. I'm not sure I trust that not to go wrong and have dirt/fabric in my cylinder. If I put the bike in gear and ratchet strap the rear wheel to the frame or something more stout, like a tree, would that prevent the crank from spinning? 3.) Also part # 12662-37402 Suzuki balancer drive sprocket usually runs about $130 new. Does anyone have a used one in decent condition they'd be willing to cut me a deal on?
  6. There is no forum on how to tighten these nuts. Only how to take them off with an impact. I dont want to put an impact on it to tighten it because I want to torque it to correctly with my torque wrench and dont want to &%$#@! anything up. How do you do this without buying the oem honda gear holder tool? Can I buy that tusk clutch holder tool and grab the clutch basket when it joins with the primary gear to stop it from spinning?
  7. Hey guys, I bought this YZ85 and came to realise the clutch wasnt working, so I drained the oil (Jet black) and pulled the plates out and cleaned them. I assumed finding a torque wrench would be easier than it has been. Does anyone know how to torque the clutch springs to spec without a wrench? Any insight helps.
  8. I have been riding for about two years now. I'm 15 and 5'6". I'm used too the torque on the ttr125. Will a ktm 85sx have enough torque for me? I ride at Whane National Forest and it has some moderate hill climbs. The ttr125 does great on the climbs. With the 85 have the torque for me? Give me all your advice!!
  9. I'm considering buying a spoke torque wrench. I see they sell for about $90 on up, depending on brand and other voodoo. I've used the plink test to identify spokes that are too loose: gently ping a screwdriver against the spoke as you turn the wheel, should go ping at the same tone. But my focus was on having the wheel be true and round, not the torque on any given spoke. Are they a useful tool?
  10. Hello! I added a front disc guard to my bike, and I'm looking for the recommended torque setting for the brake caliper bolts (Brembo). The screw for the front wheel spindle apparently requires 35 nM. Wondering about the other bolt directly in line with this spindle that affixes the caliper to the left front fork. Thanks for your help. -Mike
