  1. Was desert riding hita big rut and was gassed out from long section of whoops and didnt have enough in me to gas it over so rode thru it and stalled it in 3rd. Its locked up in third wouldnt let me shift finally rocked it loose and was able to ride back to camp. It slips/surges in 3rd gear only now. Changed oil has metal in it...

Hey guys doing my first full rebuild done crank bearings new crank my question is when putting the cases back together the transmission was spinging good however when i tightened up case bolts the sharft stopped spining its like its really tight i have to put clutch basket on and turn with force to get it to move please help ive split cases over 4 times each time looks fine nothing wrong gears spin smothly its when i put cases back together and tighten engine case bolts down
  3. My bike started to have a speratic slipping or maybe it's a miss fire. It only happens in fifth gear. At first I thought it was a miss fire, however the more I ride it it seems more like a clutch or trans issue. What happens is, I have it in 5th gear and try to accelerate at all it feals like I am dumping the clutch over and over again. Only at an allot faster pase that I would actually be posible. I took the cover off and inspected the clutch and everything is within spec. Which makes me think ita a trans issue. However I'd think if 5th gear had a missing tooth, the rest would get stripped off shortly after. Thanks for any help in advance

Hi guys recently did an transmission oil change on my bike after i finished it i started it up on the stand then put it into 1st after spinning for 5 second there was a bang and continued on spinning like nothing happened. i turned of the bike and put it in neutral and was Rowling it backwards and all the sudden the same bang sound happened again. after this i tried changing gear with the bike not running and i could only put it in first if i went from neutral straight to second then it would click down to first. the bike also rolls fine in neutral but when put into gear the clutch would not fully engaged and i would have to push harder then normal to get it to roll wen in gear. if anyone has any ideas what it could be please let me know.
  5. Alright, so I bought my first dirtbike a honda xr200r. And I've noticed some problems with the shifting. It runs through the gears fine but finding neutral sometimes is pretty difficult. You have to roll the bike back to get it sometimes. And now it's doing this weird thing where if you put it in neutral. Itll jump into gear. Not all the time but its done it twice. Its got fresh oil and the previous owner put a new clutch in it. Any help is appreciated.
  6. Was inquiring about a 2001 kx250 smoker. The guy said the only problem with it, was that once it was in neutral, it would sometimes shift out of neutral and go into first , on its own. I’m wondering if this would be like a simple clutch problem, or a nasty transmission problem , also is this a valid reason for me to stray away from this bike? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi guys, I have a 2012 rmz250 that I’ve owned since new. Ever since I got the bike it’s always had a rubber transmission. I’ve done the detent spring, upgraded clutch springs, ext. only to have the false neutrals come back. I seen someweres someone saying to swap the transmission out with a 2013 transmission. From what I have read they will swap right out with each other but u have to change the counter shaft bearing out bc the 2013 shaft is bigger that the 12. My question is, is the countershaft bearing the only thing I would have to change out to make the 13 transmission work, and by transmission I mean the gear stacks, shift forks,shift drum,shift start and the shift mechanism on the clutch side.   8. Here a strange questions, has anyone had this happen to them? I have SSR125 semi auto and when in gear I pull the throttle and it seems like the whole engine torques and twists. I've check all the mounts and they are tight. It seems like this is happening from inside the motor. What the heck is this? Thanks!
  9. Ok so ill keep it short and sweet. I had an issue with a kx250 engine locking up. I checked before i went to splitting the case. Once i did i found the culprit to be the top input gear wheel thats supposed to spin on the shaft. It was completely seized and ive tried everything i can to get it off to no avail. Is their any way to get this gear off or would i have to cut it off?
  10. hey guys i was just wondering, i have a 1999 rm125 and i nee to replace the transmission bearings in my engine case. does anyone know if the newer years from 2001-2008 rm125 bearings will fit? because i cant find any hot rods bearing sets and im only finding them for the newer models, please get back to me if any of you see this :)
  11. Here’s what’s happening. The oil plug bolt top fell of so I couldn’t take it out but no oil was leaking. So I rode it for a while took a break and when I started it up it was making a weird hissing sound and netraul wasn’t working barely. It would still move in neutral very slowly unless I had the clutch in. The hissing sound continued throughout first second and third gear but once I hit fourth fifth and sixth it stopped. A little ways down the road I downshifted and the rear wheel locked up on me. The only way I could write it back was by starting it in six deer with the clutch in because neutral was not working anymore and I had to ride it back in six gear but it rode fine.

I ride a 2007 DRZ400s with 7,000 miles on it. i bought it 4 months ago with 6,000 miles on it, it has been ridden off/on road and has been well maintained from the looks of it. about 1 month ago i was a mile from home coming up a sandy hill at about mid RPM's (i think i was in 3rd) when i suddenly lost power to the rear wheel i immediately pulled in the clutch and rolled to a stop. while doing so i looked down to see if my chain was okay, of course...it was not, it had broken in half and lodged itself around the sprocket on the engine. upon looking at some photos of the bike i think i can see the master link c clip was installed open end in the direction of rotation by the previous owner, maybe thats why the c clip came off but regardless of why the c clip came off the master link, evidently the master link wiggled halfway out of the chain while riding that day and then under the stress of acceleration up a hill it snapped. i got the bike home bought a new chain and while installing i noticed that there was some sort of light resistance on the driveshaft sprocket that hadnt been there prior to this happening. i decided to go ahead and finish installing the chain. after installing the chain i attempted to take the bike for a quick spin but it would NOT go forward. i attempted 2-3 times in both 1st and 2nd gear to get the bike to go forward under engine power and it would not go. during these attempts i noticed that he bike didnt want to shift properly either. i finally decided something was probably wrong in the transmission and began some research on the drz transmission and how to tear down the engine (first time taking one entirely apart). i assumed it was the all to common C/S problem with the drz's but upon splitting the crankcases i found that was not the problem, instead 1/3rd of the 3rd gear had broken off and was loose in the crankcase as well as 1 of the 4 dogs on the 4th gear had broken off and the driveshaft was bent. all of this to ask the question why did that happen. my only guess is that when the chain stopped the driveshaft sprocket suddenly and held it so it couldn't move and the engine was still applying force that the gears then broke. second opinions?
  13. So ive had this ongoing problem with 4th gear not working in my 03 yz 125. Ive split the cases several times and have replaced everything from my entire clutch assembly, shift forks, and several tranny gears (3rd, 4th, and 5th gear pinion). I replaced all circlips and spacers in the tranny assembly as well and tried different gear oils. After all that 4th gear works to some extent but pops outta gear after cracking the throttle and is progressively getting worse (before it just went into a false neutral until i shift out). The only thing i havent done is touch anything on the drive axle side of the transmission and figured i didnt have too since upon inspection, 3rd and 4th gear pinions were the only gears that had any wear (the dogs were worn down) and seemed to correlate to my issue with 4th gear not working. im hoping i dont have to split the cases yet again but if i have to i will. Im desperate at this point and open to any advice and help anyone can give
  14. Hi, I've been slowly rebuilding a 1972 Honda xl250 over the last few months and I finally got it started and idling today. But I quickly ran into two problems I hope you can help me figure out. 1. The bike won't shift out of neutral. It feels/sounds like it shifts into 1st and 2nd, but nothing engages and the neutral light stays on. I've taken apart and cleaned just about everything inside the right crankcase and installed new clutch and throttle cables before I ever even started it. I have noticed the bike was clearly layed down on its left side (broken clutch lever, bent shift pedal), so maybe the external shifter mechanism is bent? Where should I start figuring out the shifting issue? 2. not as important, but I'm noticing an oil leak out of the engine fins on the left side. It seems to be originating from about the 3rd fin down. Any ideas where this is coming from? Thanks for the help.
  15. I just bought a 2007 Rmz250 and it needed a complete motor, I put a stroker crank and big bore on it with all new barrings everywhere, I rode it for the first time today and it won’t shift. When I stopped riding it today I checked out the shifter and it will only shift while rolling backwards, someone please help I’d give advice I literally have no clues what it could be
