    Jets for ttr125

    Hello, I own a ttr125 and looking to step up the bike a little bit. A good first step to me seems to be the jets in carb. I live and ride at about 1,000 feet and live in NC so im not worried about cold start too much. Are there any jets that will "uncork" my bike a little. Thanks, Jack
  2. Hey guys I'm purchasing a 2019 yamaha tt125 and are looking into future upgrades for it. I know I should modify the airbox but should I do that right away? Do you guys know any upgrades that you like? Or anything you've heard positive reviews about. Also not looking to spend too much money. Anything you guys know would be great. Thanks, Jack

    ttr125 or yz85

    Hi. I'm looking for a bike for an almost 15 yr old boy. He is 130lbs and about 5'5. He road a ttr90 until it obviously got way too small for him. I like the ttr becuase it is a 125. Also, he will rarely be riding it on a track and 90% of the time will be on trails. But I like the 85 because it is faster and it is a two stroke. What do you think? Thank You.
  4. Hi, Folks. I am new to the forum, and I have a question about my kid's 2004 Yamaha TTR125. His clutch cable broke, and he got impatient while waiting for it to arrive. He rode it around the yard a bit while I was at work, and it suddenly locked up and dumped him. The engine is fine, and it will roll for a certain distance before locking up again. It locks up with our without the clutch lever pulled. We took off the clutch side cover and everything looks fine (no metal shavings, broken or worn teeth, etc.). If you have any insight, I would appreciate it.
  5. My dad grew up riding three wheelers and quads but no bikes, he fixes and rides quads and Atcs daily and my mom rode a moped but that’s all of their experience. My parents act like even the smallest trail bike is a death machine. I have ridden a atc350x (dads) and a kxf250 (friends) as the most “dangerous” machines I have ever ridden. I don’t understand and I talk to them about it to death. I even see an xr100r for $350 that was $600 on Craigslist right now that I can afford. I ride a 300ex daily and have ridden all my life. I just want a dirt bike for a chance and I can’t even get my parents to budge on a ttr125 or crf150. I’m 15 and I think it’s time I’m alowed but they don’t. I know I can ride good because I have ridden many bikes and have had my fair share of crashes.
  6. Hello, I'm back again. I got my bike fixed, and its not bogging anymore. Now, the throttle was sticking and I took it to the shop and they said I needed a new throttle assembly and cable, because it was obviously broken. Now, I have bought a new assembly and cable, but the cable that came with the assembly will not fit on my carb. There is no locking mechanism for the carb cap like there is on the old cable, and it would just be stuck in there loosely. Does anyone have a similar experience, or know any ideas?
  7. Hey everybody, first post after years of lurking. Saturday I traded my johnboat for another bike. A very rough 2006 ttr125 with a 150 big bore kit. (no idea who made the kit). She starts first kick no matter what, idles and runs great until about 7/8 to full throttle where it proceeds to fall on its face until I let up. Bike has an "aftermarket" carb that i'm having trouble identifying. The only marking on it is an "M" cast on the side of the body. the insides look brand new but the jets dont have sizes on them. I can post pics as soon as I get off work but without knowing what size jets I have i'm not sure what kit to purchase. Starting to think a new mikuni would be the best course of action. Any Ideas or discussion would be great. Thanks a ton in advance. -Ricky
  8. Hi, I am looking to get my first dirt bike, female 5' 2" 125lbs.. I have experience riding quads, and a little experience just playing around on pit bikes and kids bikes.. Checking out the CRF 125, KLX 140, and TTR 125.. They all seem like a good place to start, especially being short and new to the sport. I think ill pick up riding pretty quick but want a bike thats gonna be a good starting point, not to big/tall/heavy, yet reliable and fun.. Ive looked at the CRF and KLX so far, I like the idea of a little extra power with the klx.. but like the kick start option of the CRF and in general kinda like Hondas.. Another friend recommended the TTR so just want opinions/comparisons and input from anyone willing, thanks so much!
  9. Hey Guys! I encountered a problem when working on my 04 ttr125. I was rebuilding the forks, and one of the oil seal clips (3v3-23156-00-00) was gone? possibly why the seal failed? and the other got severely bent when I removed it. Problem is I can't find the part and neither can my local yamaha dealer. Same part was also used on the dt50, ty50, and xt125. I managed to find 3 ebay listings but all were $20 per clip after shipping. anybody know where to get one, if a different part will work maybe? I also considered bending a new on with wire and heating it to harden it some. thanks!!!!

    ttr 125 no spark

    I have a 2005 ttr 125LE that ran great up to a few months ago. Now I have no spark. Here is what I replaced: 1. new spark plug 2. new coil and spark plug boot 3. new CDI module I replace one at a time and it made no difference. Engine cranks over fine but no spark to spark plug. What else do I need to check? Thanks in advance. Chris
  11. I took my ttr125 out for the first time in a year and it would not get up and going. I took the bowl off the carb and it was green and varnished but the jets weren't clogged. After I sprayed them with carb cleaner anyway I finally got it to start but it still runs poorly. It wont idle and it wont start unless I lay it on its right side to the point where gas is leaking out of some tube. Im wondering if my carb is just bad because I think its some chinese knock off. Any suggestions on what I should try to do next to get this bike to idle and start easier.
  12. I've been looking and looking and can't find full info on this anywhere. I see setting for the bottom screw (mixture?) but not or the top (idle?) screw. I've checked the manual and they only mention the one mixture (they call it pilot air) screw. Can anyone tell me the factory turns from seated on the two screws? I know the mixture screw (bottom) is 2-3.5, but what about the top?
  13. Hello. I am a 19 year old female, looking for a dirtbike to learn to ride on. I am 170cm and weigh 50kg. I'm looking at two bikes atm but don't know what one would suit me best. Is a Honda CRF100 better or a Yamaha TTR125 ???. I don't mind if the bike is a little small as I am just wanting a bike to learn on and muck around on a padlock. Thanks.

    TTR125 rims?

    I did previously post this in the TTR section, but not much help. Hoping that this section would be more appropriate. OK, so looks like I'm going to buy a beat up 2005 TTR125 to use for MiniGP racing. The rules allow a 16 inch front wheel, or I could go with a more easily obtained 17 inch. Where can I get rims and spoke kits for upgrades? I need to check on the rear specs. and see if I can put on a wider rim since it only seems to have a 1.85 inch wide rear rim (but need to keep the stock swingarm). I also need to keep the front forks, I assume this will also limit the width of the rim and width of the tire. Tires??? What can I do without going to a $200 race tire? Guidance would be most welcome in this endeavour. The rules can be found here: https://www.nyminigp.com/mini-gp-racing/race-classes/ This would be in the stock100/125 class.
  15. Anyone bought the Niche Genuine Real Mikuni 26mm Pre-Jetted Race Carburetor for TTR125 with BBR150 kit? Is this carb really what they say it is?
  16. I have a 2007 TTR125LE with a few mods, and it's developed a frustrating starting issue... Engine mods: BBR high flow air intake kit, BBR 150cc big bore kit and cam (installed ~10 hrs ago), Dr D exhaust. Carb 1: VM24. Starts and runs well. Reliable with the VM24, to the point where I can go ride ~20 miles and it'll only sip some gas. Problem is, this bike with the VM24 is pretty gutless. Can barely wheelie. It'll go 45-50mph, but it's too gutless to be fun on trails with anything steep. Jetting is generally a 20 or 22.5 pilot, a 190 main, and the 5DL31 needle with the clip in the leanest position. Carb 2: VM26. If I drain the float, it'll start up once or twice. If I get on it and ride ASAP, it'll run for a minute or two. Noticeably more power up top in the revs than the VM24- bike is actually fun. However, the bike will only start after I drain the float, and it's sporadic at best if that'll do the trick. This happens for a 17.5, 20, or 25 pilot, regardless. Main jet is a 190, and I'm running the 5DL31 needle with the clip in the leanest position. Carb 3: VM26-TTR from Niche Cycle. Bought it brand new, bolted it up today with it's stock jetting. Same exact issue as the other VM26 I have. Bike started up on first install, and jetting actually felt a bit off, but after 2-3 minutes, the bike died and I can't get it to start again. Could the petcock be dirty, and thus lodging junk into the smaller type pilot jets that the VM26 carbs use? Compression feels good, top end is basically new. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
  17. Hi everyone, I am new here. To all you TTR125 owners out there. What is everyone doing about heat shields on their after market exhaust pipes? I have a TTR125 with a Pro Circuit T4 pipe and would like suggestions or your personal solutions on how you adapted a heat shield to your pipes. As Pro Circuit does not make one. Thanks for your time and help. Look forward to what you with experience with this bike has to say. Pics would be a big help
  18. I just bought a 2001 125. I'm 6'1 200 lbs, I know, I know, it's too small, but I have never owned a bike and at 40 years old I didn't want something too powerful to start with. It needs pretty much all the basic things replaced, but it runs very well and I guess my question is what should I do to make it a little better for my size? Don't have a lot of money, but have had a blast with the bike since I got it last week. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks

    hey guys, I have a 2003 TTR 125R. The throttle housing is cracked and needs to be replaced. it is hard to find new aftermarket parts as well as pre used parts. does anyone know if it has to be exact? is there a substitute I could use instead? also, anyone know of the best place to get aftermarket parts for an 2007 Apollo 160cc?

When i kick my TTr 125 it makes a clunking noise, I opened the case and found out my kick start gear (the only gear on the kick axle) was sliding to far from my kick idle gear (the gear the kick start gear is connected to), but still catching the edge thus making the clanking noise. Does any one know how to fix this
  22. Wondering if anyone knows if a WR250 2003-2006 gas tank would fit on my little 2000 ttr125... I found one on craigslist for over half the price of a new one! https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/mpo/d/yamaha-wr-wr-acerbis/6162155245.html i'm crossing my fingers but kind of doubt it'll fit I've already tried to JB weld it.. that didnt work so i tried rapid fix and it worked for a week or so but i think because the cracks are so big and maybe the tank flexed a bit that it soon started leaking again.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂
  23. I have an 01 ttr125 and the connector rod seems melted to the crankshaft LOL. it won’t move. I broke my flywheel trying to get to it. Well, everything is removed from the cases and I need a new crankshaft. I need a new flywheel too but they seem easy enough to find. I AM having trouble finding a crankshaft with connector rod though. This is my first time rebuilding a motor. Shit. It’s my first Dirtbike. Yikes. I was considering getting a whole bottom end rebuild kit. But they are also seemingly hard to find for this year and model. I will need new gaskets for top end but that is all. I didn’t notice any gaskets on bottom end. I don’t think it’s ever been taken apart, judging by how hard it was to get the flywheel and crankshaft off. Is it normal for it to not have any gaskets if it’s never been opened? Please help guys. I know I have a lot of questions. Sorry.
  24. This is my first topic post so forgive me if I am doing something wrong here. I have searched all over for forums, and I have found similar situations to mine, but not quite the same. My TTR125 ran great when I test-drove it. I cleaned the carb and adjusted the float, and then took it out the next day for about 30 minutes of riding and it ran great then as well. A few days later I am having issues with it starting. -- Here's the issue: The bike starts up first kick with the plunger choke pulled up, normal rpms, but then when I put the plunger choke back down the bike revs very high for a solid 3 seconds or so and then dies. -- Some things to note about my bike: As previously stated, I recently cleaned the carb and adjusted the float, and it ran fine the next day. (It was a few days later that this issue started) My exhaust did not have a spark arrestor/baffle, but I installed the OE assembly today and that did not fix anything. I checked for vacuum leaks, and there do not appear to be any. From the looks of my spark plug, the bike is running lean. I ordered a new main jet and pilot jet to help it run richer, but it just seems hard to believe that that could really fix this odd starting issue. (We'll see) -- Any ideas? Could it also be something as simple as replacing the spark plug? (I am going to try that tonight, but again, I doubt that it could be something like that) Thanks guys

    2007 TTR 125

    Hi i have a 2007 ttr 125 small wheel. If i'm correct stock gearing is 13 up front and 54 in the rear? I would like to get a bit more top end speed out of the bike, as my friends is jetted and just want to be able to almost or even keep up with him. Him bike goes just around 95 kmh. Can anyone suggest what teeth amount and a brand. Thanks
