  1. Hello everyone. I am looking to get a set of white(European style) plastic for a 1979 YZ250. I see it for a 78 but not 79. it seems like the tank design is the issue. Any leads or advise would be appreciated. Matt
  2. Hey gents! I just picked up a 1986 CR250R barn find and thought I'd post a few threads with the clean up/restoration process. I have some experience in frame off restorations of quads (all 2T's), but I'm also smart enough to know that I don't know. That being said, I invite any and all feedback on techniques and specific process critique with regard to this specific chassis. I've never done a bike, but I couldn't let the winningest bike in motocross history go to the junkyard just yet. Here are some pics of the initial eval and disassembly! Let me know what you think!

  4. Hi, I’ve picked up a Suzuki ds 100 with a 125 top end I believe which I am in the process of re building. Before I took it apart it would start and run very rough and spray fuel out of the intake and would rev up and down on its own. I have had a look at the reeds and they seem fine. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

  7. Hi, I recently bought a 1980 YZ125. The previous owner got it on barter for a job he did, said it had been sitting for quite a while. He said he put in fresh gas mix and said it fired right up. Rode it around for a few minutes then shut it down and put it up for sale. Now he did call me on my way there to tell me he tried starting it again and it wouldn't start. He quickly installed a new spark plug an still wouldn't start. I really had no reason to believe he was lieing about it running and I'm fairly mechanically inclined and wanted it so I bought it. Now I have it and I can't get it started. LOL. I checked the spark by laying the plug threads on a head fin, kicked it over, nice spark, definitely a new spark plug. I checked the compression, 165psi. I drained the tank and put new fuel in it (I think he left the old fuel in it, smelled really bad) I cleaned the carb (it really wasn't very dirty or gummy although the float needle was sticking a bit) changed the fuel filter, and tried again. Nothing. Not even a pop. I pulled up the choke lever, checked the petcock was open, I could see the new fuel filter fill with fuel, full throttle and kicked it over 10x's or more. Nothing. I pulled the spark plug expecting to see it soaking wet from flooding and it was bone dry! So I sprayed starter fluid right in the cylinder and kicked it over again several times and nothing. Didn't even pop once. Why would a 2-stroke with good compression, good spark, not even try to run on starter fluid? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm super new to this forum. for starters i'm 6 foot 5, skinny, 15 years old and getting into bikes now. my dad used to ride bikes in his prime (he always talks about his glory days when he rode his old yz490 with his friends). i just picked up a 1982 yz125j for 1000 cad. it runs with gas in the cylinder. the bike is odd because the frame is perfect, the front forks aren't chewed up(obviously hasn't been mx raced). the engine runs, no clicks, it just smokes a bit much but I think that that's because i mixed it roughly 40:1 and its vintage. the only issue with the bike is that everything but the engine is weird. the throttle cable is broken, the plastics have all different screws, almost like someone just picked up random bolts and used them instead of oem. the engine drain bolt was just a normal bolt that someone cut down(i put an o-ring around it as a short term fix just to stop it from leaking), the coolant is just water (no ethalyne glycol). I can patch up everything/get replacements but after spending countless hours scouring the internet and even going so far as to contact every local Yamaha/vintage dealer near me, the oldest engine gasket kit i can fin is 1992, not even in the 80's. currently the engine seems fine but i will be riding this thing pretty hard and will have to rebuild it at some point. Do any of you guys know how to obtain vintage mx gasket kits? or would I have to figure out the exact bearings and go to a bearing store and use gasket maker/rtv for the rest. anything helps guys.   9. Hello. Just bought a yz250 and its 4 stroking really bad. It doesn't rev out unless its within the first few mins of running it and even then it doesn't rev all the way. What jets would yall recommend? I'm at 30 feet elevation
  10. Hello everyone, I need the plasics for a 1990 kx 80 (same plastics as 1989). I've searched online for hours, but I only found the radiator shroud. I need al the plastics but the most urgent ones are the left side panel and the rear fender. I really hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
