I have a 2017 KTM 250 SX-F with 12.2 hours on it. I went to change the seals on the front forks per the maintenance schedule dictated by the owners manual. I soon found that my fork chrome plating is scored up to the point that if I run my thumb nail over it I can feel it. Has any one else ran in to the same type of wear?????? I called KTM North American Head Quarters and they seemed surprised by the wear on my forks. Stay tuned to see if they will be willing to fix the coating issue.

i bought a used 2014 ktm 85 sx for the kids. Our first KTM, possibly a mistake, but, moving right along. The clutch was draging badly, not disengaging So I pulled it, and found a disaster. 3 extra metal plates installed, 2 at the back, one at the front with all the teeth torn or ground off. Worn friction discs. Metal clutch plate teeth here and there. I havent pulled the gearbox yet - that's next. The basket is also worn to hell, notches in the fingers. KTM clearly does not make these bikes to last. Anyway. New friction discs and new plates (Tusk kit), and I havent reassembled it yet, as I don't think the stack is thick enough. The top pressure plate bottoms out, before the discs take up. Any tips on how thick the whole stack should be and how much the top pressure plate should clear? Nothing in the manual I can find other than min thickness per plate. Thanks Paul

Hey there team. On my old DRZ400 (105,000km) I've just discovered that after 40000 km since the last rebuild that the back of the clutch housing (springs especially) has been rubbing on the spacer retainer bar. There are no shims missing and I see no reason/solution at this point. Any suggestions?

Hey all, I recently bought a 2016 YZ250F as a project bike. This is my first bottom end rebuild. I am currently trying to figure out if the existing transmission has normal wear and tear or if anything should be replaced. I found that 2 of the 3 shift forks have some wear on the pads as well as outside of the pads, which leads me to believe that the forks are slightly bent or that the gear dogs are worn. I took a look at the gear dogs and there's some wear on them as well, but I don't really know what is acceptable wear for these. I have attached a few pictures of the shift forks and gear. How do they look to you? Should I run the transmission as is or replace shift forks or gears? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys, Just put around 4hrs on my brand new 2021 300rr and noticed that the inside of the frame is wearing down. I've checked my sprocket alignment using a set of verneers and it is dead straight. It seems as if the tab that was added to the slider to protect the subframe bolt from the chain (Was a problem with the pre 2020's) is rubbing the weld when the rear suspension is compressed. Has anyone else had this issue or found a fix for it? Not overall a big issue but being pretty new I want to sort it before it becomes worse 🙂

Hi all, I took apart my '86 Honda XL600r because the spark plug thread was stripped. Now I am in the process of putting everything back together but I have some questions. Also this is my first time taking apart a 4-stroke. My first question: Is my timing chain worn out? I can just lift it very slightly but it looks pretty tight and cannot move it a teeth when the tensioner is on. However the hole on the tensioner is not pointing up anymore but slightly to the back. My second question: When re-installing the timing chain I put the cylinder on Top Dead Center and tried to put the timing chain on the timing sprocket as precise as possible, however the marking stripes are slightly of when installed, if I move the chain a tooth it will be again too far of. Can I leave it like this? And is this adjusted by setting the valves?

Doing the top end on my 2009 and noticed this symmetrical wear. I think the parts are fine but I would like a second opinion. By the way the bike was running absolutely perfect when I dissembled it, was just due for a check-up. Thanks
