Hi, I'm late 30's dad whos looking to get back to desert riding with my young kids and I haven't had my own bike or barely ridden in 15 years. As title says I'm a big guy(6'5" lil outta shape but working my way down in lbs) and I want a fun reliable bike I can throw into my truck and ride around the S.California deserts (El Mirage, Ocotillo, etc.) I have zero interest in street riding so I hadn't even looked at the XR650's and have been focusing my search on WR450's & CRF450X's only but after watching a video or 2 about the XR and seeing only a few but better priced options then the other 2 choices I'm wondering if the XR isn't exactly what I want. I've read some riders don't like how tall it is and heavy, and it isn't the poppiest motor for a 650, but since I'm so tall n heavy and just looking to have reasonable desert fun what are your thoughts? Also read alil about people removing and minorish mods done to the XR to make it lighter and uncork it more. Anyone have experience stripping away street stuff and only leaving it Ca. desert legal? Thanx in advance for your opinions, I'm looking to spend @ $1500-4000 on the bike I chose, hoping to keep it as cheap as reliable /fun allows
Hello, I've been looking a lot for a pitbike for myself. I really want a Kawi klx110L or a Suzuki drz110 but the problem is i'm just a teenager going to get a part time summer job so money is a big issue here. There are lots of chinese pitbikes out there with very mixed opinions. I've been looking around and found a good bike to take a look at, Its a Orion rxb125, I really like this bike because it has disc brakes, inverted ajustable forks, 4 speed manual, and 14''/12'' wheels with a seat height of around 28'' which is similar to a klx110L. Its also under 1,000$ brand new. It looks like a great bike for messing around and hitting some jumps with. They have plenty of replacement parts on Orionpowersports website, I just wish it had the avalibility of upgrades like it's japanese counterpart, like fmf exhausts, big bore kits, etc. I'm wondering what you guys and girls think of this bike and if its worth it. They do have some upgrades like cdi's flywheels, stators, and stuff like that but i'm just not sure if I should get it or save up to get a used japanese 110. Thanks as always😁 Link to bike https://www.orionpowersports.com/orion-rxb-125cc-manual-pit-bike-free-shipping-fully-assembled-tested/
Hey guys, Im looking to buy a new Yamaha 2 stroke within the next couple weeks but i cant decide whether i would be happier with the 2018 yz 250 or the 2018 yz250x. Heres my riding background. Ive been riding for 15 years, I raced in the A class for 5 years until money got tight and i gave up racing all together. Since i then I realized how much fun single track riding is and just free riding with the buddies. I still occasionally ride tracks but about 80% of my riding is trails. I live in Michigan and if you have ever ridden in Michigan then you know the trails can get as rough as a motocross track. My local trails have sand whoops that i would compare to REDD-BUUUDDDS sand whoops. Ive never owned a "trail" bike ive always taken my race bikes and made them into "trail" bikes. My last bike being a Yz125. That being said i know all the mechanical and technical differences between the 2 bikes. Im a bit worried that the 250x just wont have the racey feel when im riding. Im also worried then when i do take it to the track the suspension will be a bit soft and the mellow hitting powerband will not allow me to seat bounce the big whoops. But now the standard yz250 might not have enough low end to help me skate through wet black slick dirt and the suspension might be a little to "non responsive" per say in studder bumps. Can you guys give me any sort of guidance. If you would like to check out my riding style on YouTube check out : "Yz125 2 stroke Shredding Michigan Enduro Trails." Thanks Guys
