  1. I have a friend that I'm trying to help get his bike started. He bought it not realizing the entire harness had been gutted down to new CDI, stop switch, headlight, new stator, rectifier, TPS, primary coil. Everything checks out as far as testing per the service manual, but there's no spark. I've been thru harness and checked all connectors and all wires. It was running now we're stumped!
  2. So I'm putting together a pit bike and I ran into a problem with getting no spark but when I held the ground wire I got a shock any ideas I'm not good on electrical
  3. Hello everyone, I am new here so i apologize if there is already a topic about the Honda MT250 Elsinore dirt bike. I am just now starting a restoration on my 1976 MT250 Elsinore and I am trying to go through the bike now and see what is re usable and what ill need to replace. Im having trouble finding a good source for parts, possibly because they are now hard to find? im not sure, but i was hoping someone could shed some light on this. Im pretty sure my wiring harness is shot, and needs to either be remade or replaced if i can find a new remake of it. I also know ill be needed new bushings, seals, chain etc.... One more question! haha........ My bike doesnt currently have lights or a speedometer ( im not sure if it ever did, or if it was removed). Do i need to do any upgrades to the electrical system to add lights and a speedometer? Any info would be greatly appreciated
  4. Hey everybody, let me start this off by apologizing for not only beating this dead horse, but pulverizing it into a thousand little pieces. I have a 2007 WR450f and I am converting it to a supermoto. I've purchased a tusk wiring harness, Headlight Head Lamp Bulb Socket, turn signals , flasher relay, horn, brake switches, a handlebar switch (with hi/lo, horn, and turn signals) and I also have a keyed ignition switch. I decided to order all of these parts because they are the same parts as the guy from THIS VIDEO. I did this so I could just follow his steps and not worry about anything. The first issue came up when I found out his method of using that headlight socket to get power to his relay wouldn't work because 1) His bike is newer than mine and uses a different headlight bulb etc and 2) It appears his bike has a headlight relay and my '07 does not. He uses that relay to cut the power to his electronics just by using the factory push on/of switch. So killing power to the electronics without a switch isn't possible because I dont have that relay...okay thats fine. I wired my stock headlight to the hi/lo beam on my new handlebar switch and it worked just fine for a bit...and then it would only work on the low beam and when I turned the switch to hi it would turn the light all the way off....not sure why it worked fine one minute and the next minute this happened but OKAY I can live without hi/lo beams. Here is what I did step by step with links to what I watched/looked at to guide me. I took off all my plastics/gas tank etc and ran the harness through the bike. I installed the handlebar switch, horn, turn signals, ignition key. I wired the new headlight socket up but had to take that out and rewire it back to stock (kind of?) and in doing so the hi/lo worked for a minute but then only hi/off worked. I plugged in the turn signal, horn, flasher relay plug from my handlebar switch to my TUSK wiring harness. I took the wires coming from my stock tail light and ran them through and connected them to the tusk wiring harness. Plugged the turn signals into their respective places on the harness. I then connected the tusk wiring harness to my battery using the supplied connectors and double checked everything was in the proper place etc etc. Turn on the bike....NOTHING works. I mean nothing (except the headlight) Before I put the blinkers and everything on I had already hooked up the pressure switches to the front and rear brake and had it working fine. After I switched the brake pressure switch plugs into the tusk wiring harness the brake lights didn't even work.... THE FUSE!!! After I got over being bummed nothing worked... I started going through everything to see what was wrong and the little fuse thats included with the TUSK wiring harness was blown....but why? I followed instructions from the TUSK install video itself...why did the fuse blow?! Do I just get a new fuse and try again?! The only differences between this video install and what I did is I didn't use their "kit tail light"I kept my factory one I just cut their harness plug off and wired them individually and I also didn't get front turn signals only rear ones. ANYWAYS....Since I wanted to go riding the next day and needed my brake light and headlight working I unconnected everything and put everything back to how it was when I started (after I had put in the front/rear brake pressure switches. I am now (not before) getting my headlight power straight from the battery (I think) which is spliced into the brake light with the pressure switch wires. As of now the headlight works, the running tail light works (very dim) and the brake light works (very bright). I know someone is going to say I need a stater/rectifier upgrade but according to everybody, I dont. Lots of people have done what I am trying to do without those upgrades and using the same parts I have but for some reason I am just coming up empty with this install. At the end of the day all I REALLY want is a working headlight, brake light, and turn signals. If someone can tell me step by step instructions on how to either A ) Make everything work or B ) Make my headlight, brake light, and turn signals work...I will be forever grateful. I am honestly willing to send you money if you can help me figure this out.... Again, I am so sorry I know how much people hate old problems being brought back but I genuinely need help. I am not an electrician and know only the VERY basics so after I follow instructions and shit still doesn't work.... I am just lost....PLEASE HELP ME I DONT KNOW WHY THIS IS SO HARD FOR ME TO DO!!! Here are links to each part, video, and diagram I used: Install Videos: Video I used to order parts from/attempt first install from Official TUSK enduro kit install video Handlebar switch for headlight hi/lo  (I used the diagram they show in this video and it worked at first but then only worked as on off/hi beam switch) Parts: Wiring harness Turn signals Flasher relay Handlebar switch Brake switch x2 Horn Ignition Key Headlight socket (not using anymore but was installed at one point without bulb)
  5. Hi all, so I recently was gifted a 1990 DR350S and it was in pretty mint shape from PO less than 4k and change on the clock, but he did a hack job on adding in led lights and, he was not great at jumpering things to bypass the side stand switch. I have recently added a new large capacity fuel cell, non vacuum petcock the Yamaha 660 raptor model specific as suggested by people. Now it was running great when I managed to get it kicked over last fall, now it acts like it don't wanna pop over at all. And I've replaced the OEM ignition coil and a new plug with new motobatt, had to go through the wiring on it and well I'm not a electrical genius. But when things are held together with tape and wire caps not a factory job at all. So I got a diagram spent 14hrs on it on two occasions now. I am at whits end, not about to give up cause I love the bike dearly. But I need to locate a new or used harness for a 90 DR350S I'm not rich but I k now these things can be somewhat expensive. And during a pandemic lockdown I would rather be in the woods riding than sitting looking at a wall all the time. So could anyone please shed some light on this or by chance have or know of where I can get a main harness. it's the kicker model with batt and no electric starter. Has all the controls and modules just need the wire harness that brings these lovelies together. Please help I love my bike and want her to live again but I am dyslexic so bare with me.
  6. I have a 2020 yz250fx that needs a headlight. I would like to do a factory style harness mirroring that of the wr250. Anyone have any recommendations on where to splice and pull power from? Im not crazy about connecting directly to the battery and would prefer to run it through the electrical system already in play. Does anyone know of a company that makes a good harness or am I going to have to wire one up myself? Details/ideas/pics are greatly appreciated!!!
  7. Hello my fellow motards! So after finishing up the free power mod and removing some of the electrical nannies from the bike, I found this connector in the wiring loom behind the front fairing. Any idea what it's for? It would be awesome if Suzuki provided an unused auxiliary connector for us to accessorize, but I'm sure that's just a pipe dream lol. Anyways thanks in advance.
  8. I recently swapped frames on a banshee. I have a 2002 banshee and now that I have everything moved over to the "new" frame I'm no longer getting a spark when I try to start it. Actually, when I ground my body to something on the frame I get a spark (it shocked the hell out of my uncle). Otherwise, I get nothing. I've replaced the wiring harness to no avail. The original has this model #: 3GG 82590 20. The one I replaced it with is 5FK 82590 00. The harnesses look similar but some connectors don't plug in. I've gone online and took the advice of someone who said to plug the orange and black wires to coil and I grounded the coil mount to the cylinder head. I moved the coil ground to a clean spot on the frame, disconnected the voltage regulator, disconnected the TORS all to no avail. Again, the only time I get a spark is when I ground my body to the frame. Any suggestions? I've spliced my new wiring harness in a few places so am going to buy a new one if needed.
  9. Hi guys ! My bike is a 2003 DRZ 400 S. I'm looking for a wiring harness for that bike. That seems quite simple... but : I first bought a 2003 DRZ 400 E (electric start) harness from a US seller on eBay, but unfortunately the small harness CDI plug doesn't fit my CDI unit (2 female connectors on the harness, 4 male connectors on my CDI unit). I thought it was because the E model harness does not fit the S model, or because the US bike model harness does not fit a european model. So... I bought a DRZ 400 S harness, from an Italian seller this time... and this harness... still doesn't fit... Same small CDI plug problem I watched DRZ 400 CDI units pictures on the internet, and it seems that all CDI units I saw have 4 connectors on the small plug... so I'm pretty lost. Maybe it would be easier for me to by a new CDI unit but... from what bike ??? So guys, do you know why there is different types of CDI small plugs... and different wiring harness CDI plugs ? Thanks a lot ! JP.
