  1. So I have had my 2005 Honda CRF 150F for around 4 years. It always gave me a hard time when it came to idling, but now the bike will just stall from idling for 3 min. I have to constantly rev the engine just a bit to keep the bike running. It runs great but when you come to a complete stop and put it in neutral, it dies. I preform regular maintenance on the bike but have not taken the whole bike apart myself. I was wondering if it would have something to do with the fuel/air mix screws.... i dont really know which one is which, i might have turned them too much(yes im a bit confused). I have attached a picture and if someone could tell me which one should be adjusted and how many turn out they should be. ( i have adjusted the bottom screw - near exhaust pipe and the middle screw..) Is there anything I could do to see if it will fix the problem before I would need to take it in to be serviced.
  2. So I have a 2007 Yamaha YZ450f that I bought a few months ago. I took the bike out to desert for the first time, it was running PERFECT I was riding it for about 30 minutes and then all of a sudden it just started popping and was backfiring no matter what RPM I was at. I came to a stop and it just died, I started it up again, and I found the only way to keep it alive was by using the throttle. When I got home (sea level) I looked at the carb and noticed that the fuel screw fell out and was MISSING! I figured it must have fallen out while I was riding, So right away I bought a new Factory Effex fuel screw. When my new fuel screw arrived I installed it, and adjusted it 2 turns out. When I started the bike up with the new fuel screw, NOTHING CHANGED the motor wouldn't idle unless I had my hand on the throttle and was constantly backfiring on every RPM. So now I have the carburetor removed and taken apart, I could clearly see all the jets were clear. There is one thing that I noticed, a piece inside the carburetor was chipped off. When I took apart the carburetor the chip never fell out so I'm assuming whoever was working on the bike last must have dropped the carb and chipped it. After that I unscrewed the sparkplug, the sparkplug came out WET with fuel, figure this is due to such a rich mixture. I'm beginning to think that when the fuel screw fell out a piece of dust may have gone in it's hole and gotten into the circuit. Here's a picture of that chipped piece I was talking about. The fuel inlet needle looks good
  3. hello all. recently i picked up a 2017 ktm 250sxf with bad crank bearings. the bike has 240 A rider hours on it but i got it so cheap that i couldn't help myself. I brought it home and completely rebuilt the engine. the only thing i reused was the valves(they were still good). the bike fires right up but if you chop the throttle it bogs so bad that most of the time it kills the bike. The other issue is that it will be idling strong and randomly die. when i first rebuilt it it ran fine for probably 10 minutes before this started happening. cranked it a little bit and the battery died fast. I ended up putting a new lithium battery in it and it then ran perfect for around a half hour before it started acting up. only this time the battery wasn't dead. when the bike isn't running the battery voltage is about 12.8 volts. when running the voltage is around 13.3 volts. I made sure to check that it was charging when the bike was hot and acting up(that means it's not the stator right?) also, the EFI light isn't throwing any codes. any ideas? i'm at a loss here. any help is appreciated!
  4. Hello! I am working on a project, I replaced my 250cc air cooled engine for a 250cc water cooled engine. I have no mechanical experience but it is a lot of fun. The problem is that it wont idle very long. When i start it choked, it idles but it looks like when the engine warms up the rpm go down, it should go up right? When i half choke it, the rpm raise but then drops down again, and when i open the choke it dies. Also one time when i cold started the bike it was rapidly warming up the cylinder and it was hissing from the exhaust port. And there is some water coming out of my exhaust, is this normal? or is there a coolant leak somewhere? I got it on video so it will be more understandable: https://youtu.be/amFgKbViy34 Some information about my carb: Knockoff PZ30 carb. Slow jet: 38, main jet: 100, needle clip middle position. Fuel screw 2 turns out, idle screw 1.5 turns out. Elevation 23ft. Do i have the correct jets and settings? I read somewhere that i cant tune the carb when the choke is closed and when it is not heated up properly. So i need to get this fixed so i can tune the carb so i can finally test ride it. Hope we can figure it out! Greetings, BamiCrosser from The Netherlands

  6. I took my ttr125 out for the first time in a year and it would not get up and going. I took the bowl off the carb and it was green and varnished but the jets weren't clogged. After I sprayed them with carb cleaner anyway I finally got it to start but it still runs poorly. It wont idle and it wont start unless I lay it on its right side to the point where gas is leaking out of some tube. Im wondering if my carb is just bad because I think its some chinese knock off. Any suggestions on what I should try to do next to get this bike to idle and start easier.
  7. I have a 2011 ktm xcf 250 that is fuel injected, and it runs like a champ. After doing some tight trails and the bike gets hot it will bog a little on the low end, and it won’t idle. If I pull the cold start knob out it idles, but if that isn’t pulled out it won’t idle. I already tried replacing the fuel pump and filter but that didn’t seem to change anything. What should I do?
  8. I just began working on my dads 2006 XT225, it was parked for a few years due to the engine dying whenever it warmed up. im currently having issues with the idle, the bike will not run without some throttle input. even after running laps around the yard for about 15 minutes the bike would die seconds after the clutch was pulled in. The bike used to idle with no problems, but there is also a noticeable drop in power. takes off ok but struggles uphill and isnt as peppy when you throttle it. any tips for trouble shooting, or recommendations for replacement parts would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Nat
