  1. I lived in Idaho my whole life except for 10 years of college and travel. I got my first motorcycle at 8. I rode MX track and dirt roads until I went to college. When I moved back I got into sport bikes and ripped the mountain and river roads on GSX-Rs. It was awesome. But last year I bought a dirt bike again. After putt putt-ing around on an XR250 for 2 months I bought an '06 RM250 and began modding it for trails. Back to my 2 stroke roots. Mods include: Steahly 10oz FWW, FMF Gnarly Pipe, Moose Reed Spacer, G2 Throttle Tamer, ASV 1 finger levers, hand guards, skid plate, Uni Air Filter, Fast Away Evo 4 pegs, Fast Away Kick Stand, Pro Taper high bars, Tusk bar risers... At this point I've chased down some minor jetting issues by dropping the pilot jet down to a 45 and the bike runs real smooth. It tracks like a MoFo, lugs hard in the first 3 gears but can pull and growl into mid range with wheelies every time. Top end, although I rarely get there on the tight trails, screams like all good 2 strokes are meant to do. Turning and maneuverability is on point, ducking and weaving tight trees and tractoring sharp switchbacks like a boss. I am so pleased. This bike is so much fun. I've finally got a tool to explore the lifetime trails out my door in my home state. Although I wouldn't say we have much true woods riding, we do have sections of trails that duck and dive through tight trees. All this and I'm still under 3K for the bike and mods. Everybody has drank the Orange Koolade (EU Manufacturers), but I think this RM gives the best of them a run for their money. And at a fraction of the price. None of my KTM buddies want to even ride it... they afraid. Work I'm planning to do: Grease the shock and swingarm, Wisco clutch basket and plates, 13-51 gearing with x-ring chain, top end rebuild over winter, bigger tank, high rise seat... Are the newer bikes that much better? Are the new bikes ANY better???
  2. Here is my XR100R build from a barely running and slightly crusty parts getter to a fully capable woods machine. I have a ATC200X carb with drilled out exhaust and intake, custom made lift links (I have posted about these before), Battery powered LED headlight for night riding. I am really happy with the way this bike turned out and I wanted to share it with you all. Let me know what you think. I have a picture of it sitting next to my YZ250F and my XR600R so you can see how it sits higher than a normal XR100. I will be taking it out riding the next couple weekends to torture test the lifting link and will take pictures and post more updates of how it goes. Thanks for all of you who have continued to show interest and support to this project, you guys made me fall in love with this little bike and its probably my favorite of my three now and has sparked more ideas for other modifications and even put some visions of creating a business making these components into my head. [I have also received requests for people wanting to purchase the lifting link, I am working on making a large batch of them and will keep everyone interested updated]
  3. Hello, I am curious about what you guys think I should get as a woods bike for riding tight single track in south Missouri (Chadwick). It will be for rocky single track riding in the woods. I have ridden a 2011 kx250f on these trails and found it very difficult to navigate the rocky terrain with a heavy bike. I am 5’ 11” and weight 135 lbs and get very tired when I have to muscle the bike around in the woods especially on long hill climbs. I would like something lighter and I’m debating wether I should get a crf150rb and outfit it for the woods or just use a 2005 yz125 as my bike of choice. Upside is that I have a really nice yz125 I can start to covert for woods riding. I have heard good things about the crf150 but I’m afraid there will be to much modification required to make it comfortable to rip in the woods. What do you guys think? The crf150 will be lighter than the yz125 which is a plus.

  5. What’s up my guys !! First post ! So I bought this bike in a garage sale last summer. He bought it brand new in 1997 to ride with his son. Well hi sun never really got into it and they stopped riding. The bike went in the garage 2005 and saw daylight in 2020 when I bought it for $1000 dollars. After cleaning it up and cleaning the carb. I realize that I just bought a god damn cherry ! I’m in absolute love with it and have just completed my first two enduro races on it and it’s time to make some adjustments to make it more woods friendly. So what do you guys think ? I will follow up with some work and minor things I have changed in the past few months ! Something about these 90s 2-strokes that just is badass !! -cleaned carb, new back tire, changed fork seals, new air filter, changed gear oil, grips, chain guard, and some serious cleaning. Runs like a god damn beast. The previous owner babied it it’s whole life and she is back to life and ripping !
  6. I have a chance to buy a 2002 ktm 250 sx for $2000 and was wondering if this would be a good woods bike?
  7. Hey guy's long term lurker here, I'm replacing seals on my bike and have decided to revalve it. I been searching and reading anything I can find about this mysterious art and would like some opinions on the situation. The reason I've decided to do this is my fork can be harsh on square edged hits, I'm an intermediate rider and have been running my compression clickers all the soft but would like a bit more cush. Any suggestions on my shim stack?
  8. I have a 98 cr 250 I’m looking for some insight to adjust my suspension for my weight I’m 170, 5’7” I’m a pretty modest rider single track, woods, trails. Mine is a brute to ride. Feels way to stiff for my weight and I don’t know where stock settings.
