  1. Hello, I was rebuilding my bottom end in my 1999 wr400 because the crankshaft broke on it. Bought a 1998 yz400 crank to put in it and after measuring them, the can chain timing gear on the crank is ~0.5mm different between the two along the shaft. The rod bearings on the yz are also bigger but that shouldn't be an issue. Should I be ok or do I need to buy a wr specific crank off of fleabay? Thanks for the responses!
  2. Hi guys, I have a 2000 wr400 supermoto. I was wondering if anyone has herd of an oil pick up mod. I had a buddy that blew up his wr250 because he was stunting and doing wheelies, apparently oil wasn't reaching the oil pump with the front wheel up. Anyone know if this is an issue for the w400 and how to fix it.
  3. Hi, my stator on my 99 wr400f sumo needs a replacement but I cannot seem to find any here in Ireland and I need it ASAP so 3 week deliveries can't do, will a stator from any other dirt bike fit right in as a replacement? No wr400 s here so I need to look for other ones for breaking, thank you!
  4. Hello, I have recently bought a 1998 wr400 with 2002 yz426 top end and keihin FCR 39 carb. I have an odd issue with idle, not sure if it is carb or what, i have checked and shimmed the lifters to no avail. It will idle either way too high or way too low. If I give it gas, it will idle as high as 3-4 grand like this untill I slow the motor down using the clutch or kill switch, then it will idle so low it wants to die. if I let it die, it is an ass to start afterward. gotta give it a super fast kick and hit the gas hard to get it going again. As you can imagine this makes it very difficult to ride in trails as it doesn't engine break at all, just pulls. Other than this, It runs great, quick on a hit of throttle and lots of power. The carb looks clean inside upon me taking it apart, doesn't appear to be anything stuck that I can see. I'm stumped on this. One other thing is it backfires pretty good when trying to start cold. I've always been pretty fond of the two smokers and don't have a tonne of experience with 4 strokes but I have been into a couple of motors. I know there's already an article on hanging idle but I think there's more to this than hanging, it will very seldom come down by itself whatsoever. Next plan of attack for me will probably be just replacing the pilot jet, its a 45, probably put in another 45.
  5. I've read an article on TT about this already, but that was posted in 2006. I want to know that if I buy a 2001 WR426, can I make it street legal? If so, what do I need to buy, what forms do I need to fill out, what is required?
  6. Hi, a rectifier in my wr400f died and I'm looking for a replacement, I'm green in electrics topic so does anyone know what kind of rectifier can I fit in as I can't find any wr400 specific ones for sale (in europe). Can I fit in any that has the same wiring? Thanks for help much appreciated!
  7. I'm fitting gold valves to my 2000 wr400 RT recommends that a check plate be fitted to the rebound valve. Many years ago I had the forks revalved but they were never any good. When I pulled the rebound apart I had to use a razor blade to take off the valve shims as they were loctighted together ?. My question is - has the tuner already fitted a check valve to the rebound valve? You can see a shim under the spring and cupped washer, pic as removed from cartridge. Cheers
