  1. Hi guys ive got a big problem. ive had a 07 ktm 250 xcf for a while and it has worked great for me. Ive always kept up with maintenance and keeping it in good shape. But my problem is, someone recently bought it from me and he is saying it is losing a lot of oil through some big black overflow tube. I have no idea what overflow tube this could be. I changed the oil pretty recently before I sold it, I didn't follow the proper procedure of running the bike for 5 minutes then changing the oil. But I forgot and changed the oil while it was still cold. Does anyone have any ideas?
  2. Whats up guys So I've done a stupid amount of searching today just to have no luck at all. I don't know if I am just blind or if I'm actually not crazy, but I have been trying to find a graphics kit to fit my specific bike for at least a week. I am just stumped. So I bought my bike with the seller telling me it was a EXC. When in all actuality it is a 06 XC (I believe). It doesn't have the same tank design as the EXC and it also states "XC" right in front of the number plate (I know I'm an idiot but I also didn't have much knowledge of the models). I have no problem what so ever finding graphics kits for the same year bike, just none that are made to my bikes body design. Does anyone know of different years or models that have the same body style? I can have a kit custom made, but that just seems like such a waste when I feel as if there has got to be pre-made kits already available. I keep seeing kits like this: http://www.ktmworld.com/product/54808190300.html Which is a beautiful design to the graphics, but the picture that is shown is a EXC model. The XC model looks as though it has more space to cover. I've attached pictures of both the 2006 models. The XC and EXC and you can tell the XC has a lot more plastic to cover and different angles. Has anyone ever run into this problem? Does the graphics kit come ready to fit the XC and need to be cut or "modded" to fit the EXC? Any help would be appreciated!!!
  3. Preparing my 2011 KTM 250XC to convert to 300 XC-W, big bore kit... but more difficult is the transmission. Looking at the catalog it seems to me that to change the gearbox from XC to XC-W wide-ratio is about the changing: 1. Main shaft T=14, 54833201000 2. Idler gear 1st T=32, 54833211100 3. Idler gear 2nd T16, 54833202100 4. Idler gear 2nd T=26, 54833212100 Is there anyone who has done this successfully?
  4. I have a 2020 KTM 300 XC and I just got back from a 30+ mile ride in the mountains. Mostly single and double track. Low rpm stuff with occasional braps. Just cruising. When I got back I noticed a ton of blow off oil from my header/ expansion pipe. Is this possibly the result of the low rpm riding and the oil not burning off? Or do I have a a more serious leak at the pipe connection? Possible an easy fix with new rings and some silicone? Let me know what you guys think. And since I know you're going to ask, all stock bike minus spark arrestor insert from EE and running manufacturer recommend 2T oil.
  5. Good day I have been having a problem with my spark plugs. Every 0.5-1 hour of riding the bike will begin to miss fire due to the spark plug insulator being cracked just below the electrode. (exactly the same everytime) The plug has some oil on it as, expected, but nothing close to causing oil fouling. 2018 ktm 250 xcw (carb) nothing has changed with the bike, the problem suddenly started at random. I have been through roughly 8 plugs (ngk br7es) and it continues, bike runs perfectly with a new plug until the it breaks once again. All jetting seems good and as I said this problem started suddenly and randomly as the bike had been running without a single problem since I have had it. a new piston and rings were installed at 60 hours and the problem still continues exactly the same. Thanks in advanced 50:1 oil ratio (moterx) as I have always 55 hours on 1 plug and then 8 within less than 10 hours??? this isnt my spark plug but the damage to the white insulator is similar
  6. Hey guys, I just sold what was my first bike ever (YZ250f). Was getting higher on the hour meter and was worried about putting on more seat time. needless to say it was kind of pig in the tight single track and slow moving trails. It seems like the majority of you enduro guys use 2 stroke ktms (xc,xcw). Im looking at either buy a YZ250X or a KTM 250XC TPI. Ive always been a yamaha fan and id like to stick with them just for reliability and cost. Other than TPI,brakes and the hydraulic clutch is there any other advantage to buying a KTM? here in canada a brand new KTM is close to 12k in my area. Im highly considering the yamaha over it as ive seen 19 models for 8 grand. Let me know what you guys think. Appreciate any replies. Still a fairly new rider so please keep that in mind. im not even use a big bore 2 stroke is the right call..

  8. Hi everyone, I purchased a 2003 200 EXC a little while ago. The guy I bought it from said it has a rekluse clutch in it, but that is all I know about it. When I got it pulling in the clutch seemed to have no effect on the bike so I opened up the maser cylinder to find it nearly empty. Filled it from the bottom up and bled it with magura blood. Now when i'm driving in gear it functions normally but any time the bike is off or in neutral it is very hard to pull. The biggest problem is when I come to a stop even with the clutch in the bike stalls. It idles fine in neutral and can be put into first gear and idles fine but the problems happen when coming to a stop. I do not know where to go from here. Any help is appreciated, Thanks. Also considering just going back to a standard clutch, seems like it would be easier to trouble shoot and more reliable for the future?
  9. so i have been riding my cr 125 lately and have decided to finally get a new bike. I am going to get a ktm 250xc. My girlfriend and i only ride trails and she is on a crf150r. So last time we went out i had her ride my cr125. she loved it because of it being a full sized bike. and she now likes 2 strokes and would like to get a ktm 150xcw or a250 xcw. She is 5'5 so it is really hard for her to ride one unless we lower it. So i was hoping to get youre guys input on what bike she should go with. ARe the bikes easy to lower ? She is not the fastest rider so Would the 250 be better for more low end and lugging around ?

  11. Currently ride a kx250f. Wanna get a 300xc because I ride rocky trails and it’s better in them, also wanna make the bike street legal in the future. I don’t ride 2 strokes, is this a good idea? Also, how is the power and on these bikes? If I get one I’ll probably put a weighted flywheel on and an fmf gnarly.

  15. Hey blokes, I have a 2018 ktm xc250 and I am chasing better suspension settings so I don’t need to spend any money on it just yet. It has the WP AER 48 fork and the DDC monoshock with linkage. I weigh 75kg with my gear. I am running the clickers slightly softer than standard and the fork pressure on a lower setting. I ride mainly enduro with a mixture of rocky gravel tracks to sandy stuff. I’m happy with the rear of the bike but the forks seem to be aggressive in action and I jar my hands and get very tired arms towards the end of a race. Has anyone found the sweet spot to tune these things but keep them stock? And if not what is the best option without spending rediculous money? Cheers ?
  16. Been riding for a number of years, on and off road. Not a serious dirt biker for the last few years but would like to get back into riding off road. Riding consists of: Mostly NW trail riding and log roads, something I can ride straight out of my garage. Occasional although very rare track day, and occasionally paddle tires in NW sand dunes Important features: somewhat light weight, torqued high (KTM in mind), looking for power and speed readily available when I need it on a straight away, versatility. Would like to make street legal if possible (just for getting around from trail to trail) but not a necessity. Like the weight and balance of many 250's and 230's but thinking I should probably look for something a little bigger. Long time fan of KTM and have not rode but really liking 300XC-W. Can anyone provide a little guidance or direction?

  18. I have a 2010 ktm 250xc and as I was changing the chain and sprockets today I spun the rear tire and noticed a wobble from side 2 side. It wasn't that bad but it's noticeable. Long story short I cut my chain 2 short and it was very tight on the bike I cranked it and ran it for maybe a min in first gear before realizing. I took the chain off and spun the tire again and it seems like the wobble has gotten worse... it's not the bearings because I just changed them and they only have one ride on em. I didn't change the spacers tho. I'm not super knowledgeable about wrenching on the bike I've just been kinda teaching myself. Idk if I fcked something up or if the rim is bent need some help here. Also we have a ride planned for this weekend would it be safe 2 ride it with the wobble or would I just be damaging it even worse . Thanks In advance for the help
  19. Hi everyone. I'm considering buying a Ktm 150. I’m wondering what some have done to make a 150sx a woods/single track bike. The xc and xcws seem impossible to find (at least up here in Canada) the ktm 150sx is also a fair bit cheaper then an xc. I've heard a weighted fly wheel might not be the greatest idea on the 150s, so what have you done?
  20. Good day! I received my 300 upgrade kit to turn my 2015 250XC into a 300XC and carefully going through the upgrade process. I bought the official KTM 300XC upgrade kit and it comes with pretty much everything excluding instructions. I'm about ready to put the jug over the new piston and noticed there are 2 hex screws (m6x30) that I have no idea where they should go or if they're just extras. They are the same size as the 4 screws that hold the exhaust control flap cover in place and the spring hangers for the tuned pipe. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  21. I recently bought a 2003 and tore the carb down just so I knew what it had for jetting. I found a 178 main, 48 pilot, and NOZG needle on 2nd clip from top. (Bike has totally stock exhaust and riding is about sea level). The 48 pilot caught my eye as I thought it should have been more like a 42 and was wondering if this is correct? Also what is the best needle to use and on what clip? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
  22. Had my bike tapped out on pavement then she locked right up, held the clutch, came to a stop, loaded her up, top end looks perfect. Trying to find the next best bottom end to OEM standards.. I didn’t expect anything of this kind of nature but here we are and I believe it’s only the bottom bearing on my rod, Hope I can get some suggestions on getting parts and also is there any suggestions for tools (crankcase splitter, flywheel puller, bearing and seal driver) as I’m on my way to Edmonton tomorrow for a break the bank kind of day, any opinions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!
  23. I am doing my first top end on this bike, (2008 KTM 200 XC) as I do the top end, is there anything else I should check or take a look at while I have the bike/engine stripped down. First time ever I have done a top end, I have all the tools and gauges needed to do the top end. I have done a fair amount of learning and research. Such as "X dimension" and what not.
  24. Hi there everyone!! Ive got a problem...I’ve got a 2009 ktm 200 xcw that doesn’t have a frame. Everything else on the bike is or was working like it should and what not but the frame is gone, and in need of a new one... So here’s the problem. I found a frame off of a 2008 150 sx and it’s the only frame I can find relatively similar, nothing on eBay or anything. So would it work? And if not what bikes and frames would work? I found this page that had all this info on it when I searched the part number. But then I was told that other years not on that list would work too? So if you could help me out that would be great!! I know the 200 chassis shared a lot of similarities with a lot of the other small bore smokers. But I just need to know if the 2008 150 frame would work for a complete transfer over. And if not what would work? Other than what’s on the list unless that’s all that does? Thanks in advance:)
  25. Hi All, I just bought a 2011 300 XC with gnarly pipe and fmf scilencer. Its my first two stroke and I'm loving it so far. I'm currently working out some jetting issues and I am pretty close to getting it dialed in for my elevation. I am wondering about the air screw adjustment on this bike... I don't seem to be able to lean the air screw enough to get the thing to act lean (almost stall) when I crack the throttle? I have it backed out 3 turns and it won't go any further. I do notice that when I screw it in it acts more rich to the point of bogging at about 1.5 turns in or so. It has a 35 pilot in it. Is this an indication of float level being too high? For the most part I seem to be running pretty rich and have dropped to a 160 MJ and the L needle dropped all the way. Its running great at this setting with only a tiny stutter at about 1/8" of throttle when cruising down the road at moderate speed. Dropping the needle to the 1st position helped this tremendously but it is still there. I'm unsure if this is a two stroke phenomena or not? The settings I'm at seem to be two notches lower than the stock chart and one jet lower. Its pretty dang good but I have some spooge coming down the exhaust still which is surprising considering I should be on the lean side of things I would think... I am at 5000' and about 70 degrees. Can anyone lend some insight?
