  1. Hi guys ive got a big problem. ive had a 07 ktm 250 xcf for a while and it has worked great for me. Ive always kept up with maintenance and keeping it in good shape. But my problem is, someone recently bought it from me and he is saying it is losing a lot of oil through some big black overflow tube. I have no idea what overflow tube this could be. I changed the oil pretty recently before I sold it, I didn't follow the proper procedure of running the bike for 5 minutes then changing the oil. But I forgot and changed the oil while it was still cold. Does anyone have any ideas?

  3. I've done a little bit of searching and I can't seem to find a reliable source for the stock sprocket set up for my bike, 2008 KTM 250 XC-F. I bought it second hand with 13/50 which was great to learn with, lots of torque to the rear wheel and it lugs well with the 280cc Big Bore kit. My issue now is that I am beginning to advance in my riding skill and constantly find myself needing more speed. I top out at about 38-40 mph and in hare scrambles (straight open sections) and even on big MX tracks (XL double features) I need more speed at times. I am open to suggestions about what works for others but would also like to know what came stock on this bike. Thanks y'all! Mark
  4. Hey guys, New owner of a 2013 XCF 450. I was curious if anyone here has any experience with fly wheel weights or clutch weights? This bike is primarily used for tight single track and I'm in the process of plating the bike. I don't do any MX and I won't be doing a ton of desert/Cali single track. The reason why I'm interested in a clutch or flywheel is to combat flameout and stalling on the trails. I do a lot of riding with my wife and young kids. I'm often the caboose and I hardly ever go past third gear while riding with them (which is a majority of my riding these days). They all go pretty slow. Which means I'm mostly idling and riding the clutch. I've done some research into both weighted flywheels and clutches and it seems like a good solution. For the WFF is seems like the Steahly product is the only one available for my year, but I'm not sold on the epoxy cure. KTM/Husky makes a bolt on Clutch weight that seems much more sturdy. Because I'm getting the bike plated, I don't really want to change the gearing. Unless someone can offer some additional input. I've researched this option the least. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences?
  5. hi, im weighing up between a ktm 450 sxf and a ktm 250 sx, im a veteran rider been riding for 20 + years and was wondering what bike would have more low to mid power? Archie
  6. hi all, just wondering i've narrowed it down to these 2 ktm 450 xc f and a honda 450 rx both 2019 all i really need is low to mid power just want to know which one has more low to mid, thanks Archie
  7. Hey all, I have a question regarding two KTM's. I have two 08 450's. I have a XCF 450 and a XCRW 450. I love the suspension on the XCF and want to dial the XCRW in to match it. I ride endurocross and trails with this bike. Do you know how much difference there is between the design of the forks and shocks on the two bikes? I can't tell any difference between the shocks but I notice the top of the forks have a slight difference (see pictures). Springs have obviously been changed between the two bikes but I'm wondering if I can just swap forks and shocks. Thanks, mpuvdd
  8. i was just wondering what are all the differences between the KTM 250sxf and 250xcf? Im new to ktm so i dont know too much about them but i heard the gearing is different. i ride track and trail and could use some input on these bikes thanks.
  9. I have a 2007 KTM Xcf-w 250. The radiator cap is slowly weeping coolent when running. It's a 1.8 psi cap. Should I replace it with another 1.8 or can I go with a 2.0 or 2.1 psi cap?
  10. Im looking at ordering aftermarket plastics for my 2009 XC-F. I am curious if there is any differences between the SX and the XC-F plastics besides the gas tank?? Would SX plastics fit my XC-F??
  11. Hello everyone just looking for a new bike between a ktm 450 xcf or sx and a ktm 300 xc which one would go harder??
  12. I have a 2011 xcf 250 and haven't had any troubles. We took a little break from riding then as we got back on the bikes I went to use my rear brake and the pedal was stiff. I slammed it down and it un-stiffened So I thought it was fine. Next corner I barely touch the pedal and it locked the rear tire and got stuck down. I had to kick the lever back up and then it worked fine the rest of the day. Why would this of happened?
  13. I have a 2011 ktm xcf 250 that is fuel injected, and it runs like a champ. After doing some tight trails and the bike gets hot it will bog a little on the low end, and it won’t idle. If I pull the cold start knob out it idles, but if that isn’t pulled out it won’t idle. I already tried replacing the fuel pump and filter but that didn’t seem to change anything. What should I do?
  14. Hi, I recently bought a 2009 KTM 250 XC-F. Everything is great about it, although I am having a minor issue with the clutch. So I start up the bike, let it idle for a minute or so to get everything up to temperature, pull and hold in the clutch...shift into first...and...*jolt forward*...*stall* I have peeked inside the oil cap and the clutch operates fine (obviously when the bike isn't running). So I then have to start up the bike again and let it idle longer. I have found that it takes almost 2-3 minutes, sometimes i give it a 1/4 throttle to get things going faster. After enough time I shift into first, still get a little jolt, but engine continues to run like the clutch finally separated from the plate. But after this everything is flawless, clutch operates perfect. It's just with a cold engine, the clutch doesn't work. Is this normal and I have just never been told this?? I find it annoying how I have to sit there for 3 minutes or so just letting the engine idle before the bike can even move. Thanks for any info, Dean
  15. Hey fellas, I’m new to the forum, but have been browsing various threads for some time now. I tried to find some threads that were similar to my situation, but like most posters, mine of course feels unique. I have been looking to buy a dirtbike after a long season of on/off riding (twice-four times a year). I’m 21yo, 5’11”, weighing 195 corn-fed pounds with no gear on. My budget is around $4000, and I will be riding primarily on atv trails and logging roads, as well as exploring smaller mx tracks and single tracks. I also would love to start fostering some mechanic skills. I started riding when I was 13 and worked my way up to feeling comfortable on a Husqvarna wr125 and a crf250x around the age of 16, but that was 5 years ago. Occasionally I go riding with some buddies that have an extra crf230, which is fun, but the suspension bottoms out if I hit a dust pile the right way. But enough background… There is a good deal nearby on a 2011 KTM 350 xcf that looks brand new and comes with some extras (air filters, tires, etc.), and I’ve been seriously considering purchasing it. I feel like if I put a 7oz flywheel weight and G2 throttle tamer on it, it could take enough punch away for me not to launch myself into a tree, ditch, or another person. HOWEVER, I also don’t want to make a $4000 mistake on a bike that scares me every time I ride it. The dirtbike market in my area is surprisingly slim, so I’ve been having some trouble finding the appropriate bike. So instead of buying a new crf230 (the only new bike near my budget), and modding it until its what I need (which will put me way over budget), Id like to see if this ktm will be right for me. I like the idea of a super light bike that has room for me to grow, but I don't wanna hate the bike until I'm skilled enough to ride it well. I appreciate any direction you guys could give me directly or by pointing me to another thread, thank you!

  17. Hey guys, I was washing my bike the other day and noticed this hole by the oil plug? What is it? Is there supposed to be a plug here or is it supposed to be like this? I've looked everywhere and haven't been able to find anything. 2008 KTM 450 XCF
  18. I have a 2013 450 XC-F with a seized piston. I am going to be doing engine work and would like to convert the bike into a street/supermoto. I was wondering how hard it would be to add a 6th gear to the motor while I'm in there? Sorry if there is a write up located somewhere, I searched but I couldn't find it. Also, what other modifications should I do to the bike in order to make it smoother on the road?
  19. Hi! I just sold a ktm 125 sx and am ready to get another bike and am wanting to get something that suits where I ride and my hieght and weight better. I am a girl I way 130 and am 5'1" I would say I'm intermediate rider and have mostly ridden on bikes that I can't really touch the ground on so I usually use trees or little hills to start and stop, before the 125 sx I was on a 250sxf. I mostly ride on trails in the woods but I do also enjoy going to the track occasionally to play around, the next bike I get I am also wanting to make it street legal just run small errands around town. There are a few bikes I am considering. The main bike I am considering is the ktm 150xc. I was also thinking about the Honda crf150r but I feel that might be a bit small to ride out on a street anywhere. And I also like the husquarvana te250. If you have any knowledge about these bikes or have any suggestions for a bike that would fit what I want to do with it that would be awesome. All that being said I do understand with turning any dirtbike street legal can be a challenge and I am also willing to work on lowering a bigger bike to fit my hieght better through a low seat and suspension adjustments but I'm not really wanting anything much bigger than a 250. Thanks for reading!!!! And any help is very appreciated!!!
  20. I have a 2007 xcf 250 that I recently took apart, I went as far a splitting the cases because my gearbox was locking up (no damage to the gears but turns out there were pieces of metal caught in the gears). I put the whole thing back together and now I have a huge problem, when shifting, it wont stop at 1st gear, it will continue to shift down to sixth gear, restarting the shift sequence from the top. No idea what it is, I really need help.
