I've got a '74 Honda XL100 that I've recently put an SL125 engine in as a replacement for the XL100 engine, but I was wondering, what would be the biggest engine size I could fit into it? I know you could fit an XR200 engine in and an XL230, but is there anything else that would fit?
Hi everyone, First time poster long time listener. I picked up a 1977 xl100 project for my wife this week and my intention is to turn make it a strictly off road bike. No lights, kick only just the absolute minimum. The bike as it stands is "missing" its wiring harness as well as it's rec/reg, fuse box, battery tray and more. Assuming that the components I have work(coil, stator, contact breaker), I need to know: -will I need a battery -what other components would I need and or can I do away with. -is a custom wiring harness something a wiring NOOB could build -is there a custom wiring resource
I have a 1974/1975 Honda XL100 and I'm considering buying a larger engine for it. I was told that an XR200 would fit, and also I read somewhere online that an XL230 would as well. 230 is about the largest engine size that would fit an XL100 frame that I've heard of. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum but have already been able to find a massive amount of great info. I figured I'd start a thread on my new project, a '74 XL100. I don't have much experience with working on bikes, so I hope I can get input from those with more knowledge than myself. I picked this little beast up locally for a very affordable price. The previous owner painted the frame, frame and tank etc years ago but it has been sitting for at least 4 years unused. It seems mostly complete but not running, however engine isn't seized and compression seems ok. It most noticeably needs an exhaust, clutch and throttle cable (existing one very worn), a carb slide, rear indicators, new tyres and a points cover. It looks like the wheels have some corrosion, particularly the front, so will need to find a set somewhere. I've ordered the new cables and a carb rebuild kit and a battery (I know I don't need one to kick over the bike though). I'm also looking for an affordable workshop manual. It seems as though the K0 XL is very similar to the late SL100, so might just grab an SL manual for now as they seem easier to find. So anyway, here is a photo of it. I hope to get riding sooner rather than later! Starting to figure out my plan of attack.
