  1. i purchased a yz 85 last year and 2nd gear would slip into neutral so i tore apart the engine and put new gears in and it works now but 2nd gears power band is very choppy and won’t stay in the power band i’ll be riding in the power band and then it will fall out of the power and and then go back in all the sudden anyone know what’s wrong?

  3. Hey y'all! Just recently bought a 2016 yz250f with 27 original hours, it came with a GYTR tuner and has a full yoshimura rs-4 exhaust, I was wondering what would be a good way to remap it for someone who races 250 beginner/250D I'm new to racing the bike is amazing but just would like to calm it down a little as of right now, old owner was the father of a friend of mine and stated the bikes already mapped for its rs-4 exhaust and I do not wanna mess anything up as it runs flawless but would just like to calm it down on the bottom end of things.
  4. So I’m looking to get my first 2 stroke since my 05 Yz250f died. I will be doing all trail riding with no track. I am an intermediate rider, 17 years old, 5’11”, 160lbs. The ktm is 2800 and the yz is 3200. The ktm has less than 10 hours on new top end and yz has about 12.5 on a new top end. Also the ktm has a recluse clutch. Please let me know what your experiences with these bikes are, and your recommendations. Thanks!

  9. Hi there I have a brand new 2018 yz 85 and it has not been starting as of late. It will fire up for a second but then when u try to give it some gas it will bog out and stall while in neutral. The spark plugs won't even last a week in my bike is there something i need too and how can i get it to start. Thank you!!

Hey TT, I know there's endless topics on YZ250/ two stroke tuning in general but I have not been able to find one that helps me get my 09 YZ250 set up for my riding style and where I ride so I'm here asking for help. I got this bike around 1.5 years ago and have not known how to set it up properly. I know no one can give me a perfect set up but I'd like a good starting setup to work from and tweak to perfection. Throughout this time I've had this bike, its always been covering the bottom of the entire silencer and dripping all over the swing arm and rims with oil. Also, the joint between silencer and expansion pipe has oil around it too but I've heard I have to close the gap a little to squeeze the silencer a little tighter and stop the leakage there. I don't have too much experience messing with carbs but I've messed around with previous two strokes and tuned them a little better. I change the oil on my bike after 15-20 hours on it and clean and oil the air filter after almost every ride. The sparkplugs never last me more than a few months but recently have been lasting me no more than a few weeks. With the excess oil from the pipe and spark plug fouling you can see why I need to set my bike up to stop this. The bike: Completely stock with V-Force 3 Reeds and a FMF Shorty silencer. Usually running around 32:1 premix with 91 pump fuel because I prefer to keep it well lubricated instead of running rich. Riding: I ride enduro in Ontario, Canada. So mostly single track and some fire roads but nothing close to MX and not a lot of time wide open. Therefore, probably mostly 1/4-1/2 or 1/4-3/4 throttle range. Where I ride: Usually 0-500' above sea level. With temperatures ranging from around 15-35 degrees Celsius (55-95 Fahrenheit). If anyone can give me a setup to go from, that would be very much appreciated. Even multiple set ups for different temperature ranges or any suggestions would be much appreciated.   11. In august I had bought a 1995 YZ 125 for exactly $480. Two days prior I had sold my '05 TTR-125E for $780. the YZ had a blown top end and he had told me it was because he ran a spark plug that was too long and that was the reason for seizure. I tore it apart and half of the piston was completely melted, the rings were melted into the piston head however there was no obvious damage done to the topside of the piston.... liar. I tore the bike as soon as I got it, starting with gas tank, then radiators, then cylinder head - when I pulled it the cylinder was smooth and piston still moved freely within the cylinder. did some measuring and inspecting and decided to buy a wiseco piston kit with the piston - 54.50mm + new rings and Athena gaskets + exhaust header springs. I also bought a 600 grit sandstone hone and stuck it in a wireless drill and went to town on the cyilnder, I'm not sure why people always send out their top ends to get honed. it was so easy. While waiting for slowco to send me their kit I began removing all of the god awful ugly plastics, and began restoring them with a hard surface stripping gel I picked up at walmart. also the plug that was in the bike when I got it was the NGK B9EG, which is what I run right now, double liar.. I don't know what else to say, im bad at thumper talk. enjoy the pics. comments welcome
  12. I have been riding dirt bikes for a little less than a year and I always ride trails and enduro. I have a crf250x right now and want to get a two stroke to go with it, should I get a Ktm 250 mxc? Or should i go with a yz 250 or cr 250? I've heard good and bad things about all of these bikes, and I need some help making a decision.   13. I have a 2011 yz450f the bike idles, but as soon as you give it gas it shuts off. had the valves checked and there in spec, the injector cleaned, and put new fluids in it everything is normal. Think it has to do with the FI system. It is hard to start also. I have replaced the fuel pump in the gas tank. "didn't change anything" any help would be great!
  14. Hey, I have a question. But first let me tell you that I am new to dirt biking, so I don't know anything. I purchased a 2001 YZ 125 in October and the seller said that he just changed the Piston and Clutch. I took it out in Gorman (OHV Riding Area) and like I said I am new, so I kept stalling the bike because I was learning and just let go of the clutch. But then when my dad got on, he said it is my fault for just letting go of the clutch lever, but also the clutch plates are a little bad. I can start the bike, let the clutch out 90%, and ride. Like shouldn't it start to move when I am half way of letting go of the clutch lever? I've seen videos of people holding their clutch lever half way and are moving 10-15mph. I can ride it perfectly fine now... But just wondering, what's wrong with it?
  15. Please help! I recently bought a Yz250f and have not been able to start it, it Has spark, but there are many issues with the carby which I wanna rule out before I leap into a rebuild, ( I want to avoid a rebuild if possible as I’m low on cash). The carby at the moment is a complete mess so the usual steps to fixing it might not work. So here’s the deal with the carb: - It’s leaking fuel from overflow ( really fast! ) and when I mean really fast, I mean it emptied my fuel tank in 2 mins. - It has a slow leak coming from somewhere under the float bowl - the air fuel screw is not adjusted correctly - I don’t know if the electrics work on it either - I don’t even know if it’s shooting fuel into the cylinder or not, as after kicking it a couple times and it’s not starting I remove the spark plug and it’s still dry. ( I tried putting fuel directly into cylinder from the spark plug hole but the bike still wouldn’t start) okay so I know it’s a lot but I’m not expecting anyone to answer every single question themselves. If each person could tackle whatever problem they know it would help heaps. Also just want to know what Order to fix things in as I can’t do air fuel until the bike is running and it won’t run unless I stop the leaking and get it to spray fuel into the cylinder. And buying a new carby is not an option ( I’ve got $40 to my name atm). Please help guys thanks.
  16. Can anyone tell me how much my 2008 YZ250 if worth. Bike is in good running condition with nothing missing. Good tires etc. Has some wear as any 2008 would but is still a good bike. I dont see many of these years available on the market. This is the only half-way good pic i have at the moment.

I have a 2003 yz125, it’s excessively dripping oil out of the silencer and where it meets the exhaust, there’s a lot of oil, it’s throwing out huge amounts of smoke and starting to foul out plugs. I’ve already replaced the clutch side seal (I’m almost positive it’s coming from the transmission oil) and repacked the exhaust. After that it seemed to stop or at least slowed down. After sitting for a couple months I changed the transmission oil once again and started it up, I let it warm up and didn’t feel like it had the normal amount of power and kinda bogged down, we revved the hell out of it and it cleared up and felt normal. We loaded up and drove out the the desert and I started it with the choke on and let it idle, after about a minute it died and wouldn’t turn over at all. We came back home and took out the spark plug and it was fouled replaced it and it ran again. The next day the same thing happened. Any thoughts on what I should do? The engine was recently rebuilt and I only use it for trail riding and run about a 40:1 ratio. Thanks

  19. Hey guys, so recently I've noticed that my front pro circuit suspension is stiffer than hell. So I read on it and it said that sometimes it's because the front wheel is misaligned and the forks will not sit right. So I put the bike on a stand bled the suspension and got the axle nut loose and the pinch bolts, and every body said to push the suspension down or even press the brakes a few times to help align the wheel. I made sure to tighten the axle then tightened the pinch bolts. But when I tried to push the suspension down while everything was loose it barely moves at all because it's so stiff. I even tried putting the bike on the stand and turning the clickers counter clockwise to soften them up but they were out of adjustment. What do I Do? How do you guys realign the wheel? I've got a riding trip coming up soon and need as much help as I can get. I'll try to add a link to video I found of a bike doing the same thing.
  20. Hey Guys - Yesterday while washing her I noticed the reservoir window on the front master cylinder has a bunch of little spider cracks on it. Does anyone know if this is just a plastic cover over a thicker plastic piece or is this the only barrier between the fluid and the outside world? if this is the only barrier it is reasonable to believe its letting small amounts of Air into the reservoir? Also anyone out their have any suggestions for aftermarket caliper and master cylinder?? Figure if the cracks are letting small amounts of AIR in the master then i need to replace it so id rather just upgrade.. I have been trying to up the stopping power of my front brake on my YZ and i'm still not happy with it. I really want rock solid throw you over the bars power with an easy pull but cant seem to find it. I have already upgraded to a oversize rotor, Galfer stainless line w/ CR style conversion, New EBC Pads and fresh fluid from Motul Right now for steep drops or ravines i'm literally having to squeeze the lever as hard as i can to get it to hold tight Any advice is appreciated
  21. Well guys, I officially pulled the trigger!!!! I have been looking for a bike non stop on craigslist for about a year now....I just CANT justify spending 7k on a brand new machine. About 3 months ago I bought a project bike for 500 bucks and realized it was gonna cost way more to fix it than the bake was worth...it was a 2001 Yz125.....so I resold it, didn't lose any money on it, and kept looking....Well last week, I FOUND A GEM THAT I JUST COULDN'T PASS UP!!!!Went and picked this puppy up today for 3,500.00 bucks. 2015 Yz125. Dad bought it for his kid 2 years ago, who rode it for 6 months around his neighborhood, broke his wrist, and then never touched it again. Has about 40-50 hours on it I was told. What do you guys think??????
  22. Hi I’m 15 and I’m from Ireland. I can’t decide what bike to buy. I have no experience on dirt bikes(only small road bikes). I have been riding quads with about 10 years and I’m looking for a change. I can’t decide what to get a yz 125 or 85 since I’m only 5 4 and 55 kg. I have a lot of experience on quads so I’m not afraid of speed and power but I really don’t know much about bikes. Any advice would be appreciated .
  23. Should I buy a 2002 YZ426f OR a 2009 CRF250R? The YZ has alot of extras and looks to be in pretty good shape, the owner used it alot, but took care of it. The CRF is in EXCELLENT condition and looks great Both bikes are for sale at about $1500, but i should be able to talk it down a bit I'm having a difficult time deciding between the two, I'd be sacrificing power for age and vice versa, idk any insight would be helpful.   24. My bike has been running noticibly hot latley, then I noticed my coolant was low. This is the first time I've had to change coolant on my Yz450f and I'm not sure what I should go with. I have some Preston 50/50 lying around, but I'm not sure how safe that is for my bike. I've heard good things about engine ice and water wetter, but I want something that is available locally. Also, I live in south Florida where it is always hot, so I don't need a coolant that goes very low below freezing. Thanks for the help.
  25. so i have a 1990 yz80 and it wont kick start when it is cold so i have to bump start it but when it is warm it kick starts first or second kick. It will bump start the first push but no kick starting. CAN YOU HELP ME!
