  1. Please help! I recently bought a Yz250f and have not been able to start it, it Has spark, but there are many issues with the carby which I wanna rule out before I leap into a rebuild, ( I want to avoid a rebuild if possible as I’m low on cash). The carby at the moment is a complete mess so the usual steps to fixing it might not work. So here’s the deal with the carb: - It’s leaking fuel from overflow ( really fast! ) and when I mean really fast, I mean it emptied my fuel tank in 2 mins. - It has a slow leak coming from somewhere under the float bowl - the air fuel screw is not adjusted correctly - I don’t know if the electrics work on it either - I don’t even know if it’s shooting fuel into the cylinder or not, as after kicking it a couple times and it’s not starting I remove the spark plug and it’s still dry. ( I tried putting fuel directly into cylinder from the spark plug hole but the bike still wouldn’t start) okay so I know it’s a lot but I’m not expecting anyone to answer every single question themselves. If each person could tackle whatever problem they know it would help heaps. Also just want to know what Order to fix things in as I can’t do air fuel until the bike is running and it won’t run unless I stop the leaking and get it to spray fuel into the cylinder. And buying a new carby is not an option ( I’ve got $40 to my name atm). Please help guys thanks.
  2. Evening all, I have a 2011 YZ450 with a WR box and weighted flywheel, the bike has been taking in recently and fully serviced including shimming; the clutch has been looked at an is all within spec. The problem I'm experiencing is after about 10 minutes of riding whenever I hold in the clutch the bike dies, any ideas? Thanks Brad
  3. Hi everyone im trying to find a spare rear wheel for my 2008 yz450f, ive heard 06-09 yz450f all fit one another, is there any one yamaha wheels that will fit my 08? i tried looking it up online & im receiving different information. -Thanks
  4. they just announce the first position, i am interested to read their december issue .
  5. Hi there, can anybody help a newbie with a KYB fork question. Got a second hand KYB forks and are lost, they ned to be overhauled but I can`t identify the year. According the previus owner they where used on a YZ250 2 or 4 stroke? nor the year or if they belongst to that bike. They appear to be closed cartridge type, means they have to be at least 2005 or newer. All help appreciated!
  6. Whats up everyone I'm pretty new to the forum so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct spot.Either way I need some help! what year kickstart levers will fit my 2007 yz450f. I got away with a Kim lever off a 525 exc but now I'm looking online and can't find much but one option for 130$ I'm seeing a lot of options for 2011 levers around 75$ and they look nicer with a blue instead of silver. Does anyone know what size the spline is? what other years I could possibly use? thanks in advance. On another note my oil filter housing bolt is stripped like most I see are dealing with. I have googled away and cannot seem to find where to order that bolt.
  7. Hi, I'm looking to buy either a yz125 or yz250 upgrading from a yz85. I'm 16 years old, i'm 6'2" and weigh about 145lbs. I'm upgrading from the yz85 because the frame is too small and I've outgrown it, plus its a little weak. I would like to get a yz250, but they are pretty pricey and my budget tops out about $1500. I found a good deal on a 2009 yz125 ($1300), but I'm wondering if there isn't enough power? I'm not really going to be racing, I might go to the local track for practice every once in a while, but nothing crazy. What do you guys think? yz125 enough power for a 145lbs teenager? Or is the yz250 the better option because of the 125's lack of bottom end power (i'm used to this with the 85)? Thanks!
  8. Fun solo ride before the recent Northern Cali storm, lots of fun good conditions
  9. Hi all, I am new to the board and this is my first post. I have found a lot of info on the earlier model YZ/WR gear swaps fo get a taller and wider gear ratio in a Yz450. I just bought a 2017 YZ450F and I am converting to a supermoto. I will be riding mainly on the street and would like to get a wider gear ratio. Can you swap gears front he later model (2017ish) WR450’s to the Yz450’s? Or would I have swap the entire transmission? I would like to swap 1st, 4th & 5th ideally. Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
  10. I am looking at 2009 Honda CRF450R , clean bike, seems to be well maintained. Only thing that is bothering me is that these bikes seem to have some problems, fuel mapping, decompression pin, If someone could provide insight on their experiences with these bikes please? There is also a 2014 yamaha for sale at the same dealership and from the research I have done on them they are good bikes, but this one was definitely used, plastics have some scrapes, stock exhaust has some dents, but it has all the mods someone who at least knew what they where doing, better sprockets and handle bars and levers
  11. I just bought a 2009 yz450f and I need to lower it. I'm about 5'5". Anyone have any ideas? I know about shaving the seat down, which I plan to do, but I don't think that will be enough.
  12. So the title says it all, I asked this question a few days ago ( my initial post from a few days ago )before I narrowed it down. So it seems that if I take the spark plug out and put a tad bid of gas into the hole it starts up first kick and I can go through the whole throttle range and it doesn't bog or anything. If I wait about 10minutes and try to start it again, nothing not even a budge. Is there something particular that could be clogged? Or is my ECU bad for some reason?
  13. Rebuilding a 2006 yz450f motor. Got it together with new vertex oil seals. Vertex sends 8 seals in the package and I’ve used 7 of the 8. I can only find 7 seals in the manual/partzilla drawings as well. I’m lost as to where the last seal goes or if it’s thrown in the pack to fit another style motor. No company offers any support so this forum is my last resort. Listed below are the seals I have used. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 1-Shift lever shaft seal 2-water pump shaft seals 1-kick start shaft seal 1-sprocket shaft seal 1-crankshaft deal 1-clutch shaft seal
  14. I have a 2008 YZ450F with a stock header pipe and Pro Circuit T-4 Slip-On Exhaust. I'm 99% sure the slip on is shot because its loud as hell and when I take it off and shake it it rattles. I would repack it but the screws are all stripped ect. Anyways I've gone over the carb multiple times and I've got it running pretty well. The only issue I have with the bike is that it sputters and pops around 1/2 throttle when I hold it there. When I give it full throttle from any RPM it runs great or when I give it about 3/4 throttle it spins up like a top to redline. Initially the popping and sputtering was way worse I made the situation better by moving the pilot jet up in a few sizes from a 45 (stock) to a 62. The issue has gotten way better since then but I'm not super sure what to do from here. Should I keep moving my pilot jet up in size because that's a pretty large jump right? I tried changing my needle clip position but that didn't help much if anything it just made starting it worse and little to no impact on the ride. Any input on this would be helpful. I don't want to buy other slip on. Also as for the rest of the carb I'm very sure everything else in it is what it needs to be at. I've replaced all the gaskets and O-rings cleaned all the jets, valve holes ect. fixed the accelerator pump timing. I just thinks its strange that my pilot jet size is going so far from the stock 45, but all symptoms point to the bike running lean.
  15. Will my 04 YZ450F exhaust fit and work on my brothers 05 WR450F? He is afraid of a little noise and wants my stock pipe. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  16. I recently rebuilt my 06 yz450. Top end valves springs valves seals. That was about a month ago. And I just put in a new spark plug and the bike idled high while riding. So I would let off the throttle and it would go or if in neutral rev high. Now I took everything apart the whole top end and everything looks good. Put it all back together and now the bike barely has any compression and will not start. Carb is clean just took it fully apart. Also the rev limiter is slow not rapid like normal... Just need some help ??
  17. Hello, I need to get a new front tire "have a paddle on the back of course" Usually I just throw any knobby on the front but after looking i found a few front tires "made for sand." i will post them below. https://www.motosport.com/bridgestone-battlecross-x10-front-tire?variant[BGS0033]=BGS0033-X001-Y001 https://www.motosport.com/michelin-starcross-sand-5-front-tire?variant[MIC004G]=MIC004G-X001-Y001 Has anyone tried these tires in the dunes? are they worth it? or does it not even make a difference & just throw whatever on the front? Also what tire pressure are you running in the front & rear in the dunes? been trying to mix it up seeing what i like best. Usually around 9-10 lbs. Have a 450. -thanks
  18. hey always here reading but this is my first post, i have a yz450 2009 model. clutch lever works fine cable isnt ripped or anything however when i pull it in the clutch is still disengaged, i opened the cover and found that only one plate was moving so i removed the basket and lightly filed down the groves put it back together and all the plates seemed to be moving together. Pulled the clutch in and moved the back wheel and it felt like it was dragging.started the bike up next day put it into first gear and it jerked. Took the cover back off and pulled the clutch in and not all the clutch plates are moving again. what could the issue be? the clutch and friction plates aren't worn, nothings broken. i can upload pictures or videos if needed. TIA
  19. I have a 2012 YZ450 and i did a much needed deep cleaning with a pressure washer and it started fine and ran i put it in the garage and started to polish it for pictures and cleaned and oiled the air filter and let it sit over night like usual and then the next morning i changed the oil and rode it up and down my alley way to warm it up and get it circulated and as i came back to my garage to talk to my neighbor i shut it off while i was moving with the clutch in and as it shut off i heard a odd noise and didn't think too much about it at the time and when i went to start it again,i had found out that my kick starter was not going past half way and the top half had no compression and i tried putting it in gear and moving it but all i got was some metallic noises from the inside of the cylinder and so i put it back in my garage and took the clutch and clutch basket out and there didn't seem to be anything wrong on that side so i took the magneto cover off and removed my flywheel and made sure the key was there and nothing was abnormal i put the flywheel back on and was torquing it down and i had the rear wheel locked up and it would still spin and the flywheel would turn with force and the timing chain would move a link and make a crack/ metallic noise, not sure what is was but i got the flywheel torqued and somehow the crank and everything was moving and i could kick it normally but still not even trying to start. i proceed to take the plug out and made sure it got spark and it did, the plug was a little darker black then normal and it was bone dry so i put it back in and tried to start it,still no luck..So i have come to you guys in need of some help or advice.Any help is much appreciated -TE

  22. I have a 2005 WR450 with need of tlc in the gear dept. Does anyone know if any other year WR has the same shifter forks and indeed if any YZ shifter forks will work. I have seen some 06 YZ shifter forks, which look just like the 05 WR ones, except they have a different part no. and different numbers cast on them, The WR has 5BE4, and the same looking YZ has 5BE5. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers
  23. just curious if anyone has ridden both the new and last gen yz450 and how different they REALLY are. i can read reviews all day but theyre all from professional mx racers that probably pick up on little things id never notice. selling my ktm, pretty set on getting me a new yz, my price range is around 4k so that puts me in the range of buying a 2010-2013 yz450. however im being told from a few guys who ride these that i really need to save and spring for a 2014+, the cheapest 2014 i could find was $5000. are the 14's really that much better? should i save and go for one of those? My main actual question is with that same money could i make a 2013 the same or even better? What ever one i decide on ill probably do the same to either for aftermaket parts, exhaust, tuner, fly wheel weight and a lowering link in the rear. Ive ridden a 2015, which is what sold me on one, i loved it! i just dont wanna be disappointed if i get the early gen. either way will be better around the track then my ktm exc! lol, but man that electric start is soo nice
  24. I am looking at a 09 YZ450 on craigslist. Its for sale for 1800 but it as a cracked case. Ill upload the pictures later but I am wondering it it can be fixed. It is cracked right where the clutch cable goes into the clutch.
  25. Hey guys! I have a 2007 YZ450F and it will not start no matter what I do. I have kicked it so many times a blew a hole in my shoe. I have also tried to bump start it.
