    Fork break in?

    Just replaced my entire suspension and the forks are very stiff even when loosened all the way. I was wondering if the forks just needed to be ridden on to break them in.

    Yz125 jug

    How can i fix this? Why is this happening when everything else if fine? Took it to a machine shop guy said 100 in labor to do sleeve and he said he didnt know if they made sleeves but they do. Im considering on buying a brandnew cylinder but lots of money didnt know if cylinder could be fixed or this will happen again. Heres the piston, then top of jug has chips taken out 30-50 thousandths

  5. 2009 YZF250 - Ex Dixon bike with the wet sump conversion. Stuck a bunch of quality hours on this thing the other weekend doing some enduro practice. Didn't skip a beat! Changed out the oil and filter, putoline - 850ml with filter change as recommended by someone off the dixon facebook page. Fresh airfilter. Didn't start it for a few days after the oil change as was late at night after service, warmed it up at trackside this weekend with no issues to get the oil flowing, checked pressure by removing the bolt, all fine... Killed it. Came back to the bike about 15 mins later started fine, rode literally about 100m (wasn't hanging around but not going mad) and she just died under load, instant death. I believe it locked up, hard to recall. Didn't feel right either-way, i've had bikes flame out on me (CRF450) and this was a bit different. Bike started OK afterwards, I sat there with it on idle for about 10 seconds, all good, gave it some throttle and it just came to an abrupt stop again, almost made a squeak when it stopped. Rolled back to pits, checked oil filter, was fully soaked, everything looked fine, rads weren't exactly hot but i'd only been riding for a short period, head was pretty hot to touch, crank didn't seem that hot - but then again i've never touched an engine after 4 minutes of running so I've no idea what sort of temp it should be haha. Bike started again fine after little inspection, idled OK. Sounded sweet, no rattles or bangs. Started to give it some throttle, rolling the revs and it just came to a screeching stop again. Kicked it in anger and it hasn't started again since. Gave it a little strip down last night, took valve cover off, all looks normal, valves are in spec still, took the carb off and had a look down the inlet, small little bits of something foreign in there and the tiniest of metal slivers sitting ontop of one of the valves. (By this point i'd already dropped oil and filter for inspection, nothing that looked out of place) Now the bike kicks over OK. Its never had the strongest of compression on kick, but its been a while since i've had a 250F. it does 'get hard' at certain points but its pretty easy to kick through these hard points normally just body weight will do it. Can any of you advise on moving forwards, i'm going to remove head and cylinder for inspection but i've never dug this deep into an engine before haha! Any thoughts or tips on things to look out for? Bike has a spark I should add, not that this really felt like a lack of ignition.
  6. Please help! I recently bought a Yz250f and have not been able to start it, it Has spark, but there are many issues with the carby which I wanna rule out before I leap into a rebuild, ( I want to avoid a rebuild if possible as I’m low on cash). The carby at the moment is a complete mess so the usual steps to fixing it might not work. So here’s the deal with the carb: - It’s leaking fuel from overflow ( really fast! ) and when I mean really fast, I mean it emptied my fuel tank in 2 mins. - It has a slow leak coming from somewhere under the float bowl - the air fuel screw is not adjusted correctly - I don’t know if the electrics work on it either - I don’t even know if it’s shooting fuel into the cylinder or not, as after kicking it a couple times and it’s not starting I remove the spark plug and it’s still dry. ( I tried putting fuel directly into cylinder from the spark plug hole but the bike still wouldn’t start) okay so I know it’s a lot but I’m not expecting anyone to answer every single question themselves. If each person could tackle whatever problem they know it would help heaps. Also just want to know what Order to fix things in as I can’t do air fuel until the bike is running and it won’t run unless I stop the leaking and get it to spray fuel into the cylinder. And buying a new carby is not an option ( I’ve got $40 to my name atm). Please help guys thanks.

  8. My rm125 leaks gas when sitting there on the stand with gas off. I've tried cleaning carb to make sure no dirt or anything! Please help! Also my kickstarter is tight when pulling out?

    Yz250F won’t start

    I bought a YZ250F yesterday and the previous owner said apparently it runs but they weren’t strong enough to kick it. I couldn’t kick while there so I took their word for it and bought it. I’ve been trying to get it to fire all day today, there are 2 chokes and I’m unsure if the air mixture is correct, so would be nice to know what I should do, it’s hard to adjust the air screw when the bike won’t even run. I noticed the spark is kinda low, I don’t know if it’s normally supposed to be like that or not. I can see a blue spark but it is very small and crappy, I’ve had thumpstars that generated stronger spark, I changed the plug it’s still the same, so maybe could be an electrical problem, the only ground connection I could find was for the ignition lead which I filed down to bare metal so I’m pretty sure that connection is good. Anything else I’m missing? It’s very hard to kick and I can feel the compression out of the exhaust so I don’t think compression is the issue.Just wanna know what I should do, haven’t owned a yz before so I could be not using the choke right or something.   10. I picked this bike up barley running. It would only roll start and when with was running it was popping a lot and would hardly idle (had to blip the throttle to keep it alive). At this time it was missing the air boot clamp to the carb and the hot start contraption on the carb was broken off in the carb. since then: New Intake valves (I did not cut them in) shimmed with in spec new top end gaskets carb rebuild kit (main jet: 160 pilot jet 45 currenty. also tried a series of combinations with 160, 165, and 42,45, 48) adjusted float level (with out weight of float on spring) and put a clamp on the air intake boot. now when I start it (mj:160 and pj:45) runs okay on choke dies when I take it off. When I had the mj165 and pj48 ran perfect on choke and idled fine with out choke but then died when giving it throttle. Process with fuel and air screw i used (the fuel screw i believe on the bottom of the carb bowl start woith 1.5 turns out and slowly work my way out to 2.5 turns out; while the screw on the side controlling the throttle i start with all the way in and work my way out) I am at 2100 feet above see level. Main problem still: will only run on choke with bigger jets and worse idling with smalller jets and more popping. If someone could point me in a direction I would greatly appreciate it! This bike is driving me insane
  11. Hi guys. I am looking at purchasing a new yzf. Im deciding between the 2018 and 2019. 2019 has loads of changes. Will they be very noticeable? should i just get a 18 now or wait for a 19. What do yous think.

    Unknown 426 Parts

    Hi everyone, I was putting my 02 Yzf426 bottom end back together when I noticed this little washer type thing. I am wondering if it even goes to my bike or if it was just on my desk. If it is a piece of my bike, does anyone know where it goes? In addition I found these 2 black water pump seal looking things and I was wondering about those as well. Thanks everyone.

    2013 yz450f help

    So I went trail riding last week on my 450 and by the time I got home I'm ready to sell it. But maybe I can get some enlightenment here. The bike will not hold a line to save its life. I didn't know which way it was going to go at any given moment. It feels like the front tire isn't even touching the ground. I've got the new Dunlop on the front I think it's a 52? At times when I corner hard and at high speed it feels pretty good. But at slow speeds all it would do is cross rut and wouldn't stay put. I rode my brothers stock rmz and absolutely felt planted and confident about steering. Any help is appreciated. I bleed blue but this is game changer if I can't figure it out. Thanks for your time and input.

  17. Hi all, Im a little bit smaller of a rider about 5`2 or 5`3 110 pounds. I feel ive outgrown my crf150rb and am looking to go to a a 250 next spring. Whats the slimmest/smallest 250f out there. Ive almost entirely ruled out a Yamaha because i went to a dealer to look at them and they feel and look so much bigger than all the other 250s. Kawasaki seems like its a smaller slimmer skinnier bike but the Suzuki doesn't look bad either. Ktms seem huge to me and really haven't looked at hondas yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   18. I have a 05 KTM 450exc electric starter/kick starter. Just recently upgraded. NEW: Big Bore 525cc Kit (WILL HAVE IT BREAK IN), battery, spark plug, oil, oil filter, air filter, cam chain, Carburetor rebuild kit, gear lever, fork seals, radiator fan kit, starter wires, top end Wiesco Piston & rings, bottom end is still good as new no problems. Moto tires and Zero hours since rebuild. Now let me tell you how my KTM 450 became a 525cc. My mechanic sent out my cylinder to be re-plated and when it was sent back to the shop my mechanic realize that it was a big bore kit which was a 525cc something that I never asked for. So my mechanic called me and said, "I have some good news but it depends on how you view it because it may not be so good to you." So I said, whats up, what happen, and he said the good news is that your cylinder came back but the people sent me the wrong size and I don't know how that could have happen. There's no extra charge to you so take this as a free kit". I just said hell yeah go ahead and install it. And he went on to say just make sure that you break it in real good but slow because if not doing it right you could mess up your bottom end." So I'm asking you guys how can I break in this new big bore kit without messing up my bottom end?
  19. Hey guys I just bought a bike last night. So the seller said the bike will turn on but then die. We didn't try it because it was really late at night and it was raining (seat was wet). But he said if you bump start it, it will turn on and ride. So what do you think the problem is? I just want to make sure it runs... I probably won't be able to bump start it till Saturday (rain)... It's a four stroke, and I know absolutely nothing about them. Thanks.
  20. Going to buy either a 2004 kx250f or 2004 yz250f. Just looking to get some opinions. They are each going for $2100 (Canadian). Only reason I am skeptical on kx250f is 2004 was its first year of production. I don't race competitivly but I do ride the track and trails weekly with buddys. Thoughts?
  21. In case you haven't seen the recurrence of woods riders destroying their wrists while riding with wrap around handguards here's a photo of a member who did such. Now, since we know this can happen with wrap arounds, what are the consequences of flag style? How often, if it all, do users smash their fingers? What's the best pair of flag style handguards, for woods specifically. DirtbikeChannel on youtube said that the Cycra rebounds are a lot stiffer than most flag style, is that true? What are some stiffer style flag hand guards looking to avoid breaking my wrists and fingers.
